It was our first time at Sorella. We had a great time celebrating my birthday at Sorrel last year, we were excited to try Sorella with my family visiting from out of town for our engagement dinner. We made reservations for 5 at 8:15pm, but weren't seated until almost 9pm. That was the only hiccup for the rest of the night. The food came out promptly, our waiter was kind and made us feel welcomed, and the ambiance was very San Francisco, which is exactly what I wanted to share with my folks visiting from out of town.

Every cocktail and dish is thoughtfully crafted. There are a lot of complex and surprising flavors that work in perfect harmony. It’s incredibly delicious! The wait staff is attentive but never too much. It’s a nice, casually upscale dining experience that’s both intimate and romantic. Simply put, this is one of my new favorite restaurants and I can’t wait to return!

A lovely dining experience, quiet vibe but no means dull and a varied menu with some interesting takes. My pasta in wine sauce with beaf on top was outstanding. The vongole was a bit dry and needed more olive oil and clams but it wasn’t terrible. Perhaps something more traditional there to go with the more adventurous would have been better. Everything else was exceptional—so nice to have another great Italian restaurant in the city

Incredible. We eat all over the country. Sorella was one of our favorite Italian restaurants. We tried most of the pasta dishes and each one was better than the next. You highly recommend this restaurant. It certainly is one of the best in San Francisco.

I had a pork chop that was prepared beautifully exactly, as described only a little over-salted. The beef tenderloin that my partner had was also beautifully prepared and exceptionally good. The cocktails were tiny, but extremely flavorful. We had a lovely server named Zelda that took fabulous care of us, and was also extremely attentive and accommodating with some of our guests that had specific requests. They even took care in noticing we were celebrating two birthdays, and brought beautifully prepared small pastry desserts that I would’ve ordered on my own they were so delicious. We will definitely be back!

I simply love this restaurant. Great food, good location and terrific service. Everyone is so friendly and professional! Keep up the great work! The tomato salad and various pasta are fresh, interesting and tasty. Everyone checked on me several times because my friend was late getting to the restaurant.

This was my first time here and it was fantastic. I had great recommendations from my server, then I had even better wine recommendations from the somme that was there (and she was super fun), and then I met what turned out to be the owner and had a good chat with him. The place is fun, great food, good atmosphere, and I will go back for sure!

Our dinner was very good but we weren’t totally blown away. Perhaps expectations were too high. The tomato pasta was excellent. The noodles with short rib were delicious but very rich (great for sharing).

Staff was very attentive! On top of their game! We never needed anything. They were friendly and were professional! (What a difference from the normal service with an attitude) We were celebrating a birthday and thanks to everyone we had a great experience! Even when we told our waiter that we had a cake at home he brought to the table a bowl with delicious cookies and a candle.

Sorella is a beautiful, modern style restaurant. The food is exceptional! This is Italian food taken to the top level. There is a full bar and the cocktails are great. We started with the basic greens salad, and the dressing was delicious. Then we had the heirloom tomato salad, and this was totally unique. The whole plate was covered with slices of tomatoes with other ingredients like anchovies. Now that was really delicious. The meatballs are not to be missed. Oh, I would go back for just the meatballs and bring an Italian roll. Maybe they should have an Italian roll to make a meatball hero. And we had the artichoke appetizer which was artichoke made into a ball and deep fried. They come with a sauce and these are superb. We had the homemade pasta which was like a fettuccini with a beef sauce. Again this was Italian food taken to the top level. The flavors are so delicious. You want to eat slowly to savor each bite, but it’s so delicious you can’t wait for another bite. And the branzino fish dish was perfect. We finally had the Hangar steak, and the meat was perfectly cooked. Could we have a better meal? No. Could we pay a little less? Maybe that is wishful thinking. Overall, Sorella is a destination point, and it is a packed restaurant. We definitely will be back for more.
