I went into Sorella with high expectations (it is after all the sister restaurant of a Michelin starred restaurant). Unfortunately, the experience fell flat. Despite disclosing that I was celebrating my wedding anniversary, I received nothing more than a congratulatory statement. Though a complimentary drink/bite/appetizer is not required, it is a differentiating token that some restaurants of this caliber offer. Still, this is not why I rated this place so poorly. The reason for this was the food. Each plate I tasted lacked seasoning and complexity. The tartar dish was bland and could have benefited from some citrus and spice to highlight the fish. Their version of lasagna was also plain. It had al dente pasta, was not properly seasoned, and was simply served over a tomato sauce. It would have benefited from some herbs. I was very disappointed because I wanted to love the food and experience but both left me feeling like I overpaid for a poor meal. Now I'm unlikely to return or to recommend.
Terrific reinvention of this space! Menu appeals more broadly to both younger, hip diners & the “older generation” who seek less rich preparations for digestive ease. Some of the flavors & textures were the kind of delicious delights, from savory winter soup, to crab salad, pork chop, pasta (!) to dessert (yay for semifreddo!) and the cocktails & wines. Welcome back to this terrific address with all new awesome food & terrific service.

The best affordable Italian restaurant in SF. Great value, authentic end professionally managed by someone who has been running for three decades a legendary two Michelin star restaurant like Aquerello.
Amazing food! Amazing dining experience! We sat at the bar, ordered a bottle, then proceeded to order. For dinner we ordered, Budino added black truffles, Kingfish Crudo, striped bass, bucatini, Dungeness Crespelle and broccolini. Sorella did not disappoint. Very fun and lively atmosphere, friendly bartenders and host.
Overall decent food. Very good osso bucco and nice antipasti. Bucatini was a little overdone, which was too bad. Ambiance is a little too bright - lighting a tad unpleasant.

such an amazing addition to Polk Street. Fantastic all around. Fun cocktails, amazing aps (anchovy toast was to die for), pumpkin pasta!!! GO GO GO
this is our 3rd visit. no ice tea; had to ask for hot water,tea bag and ice. they nicely complied. appetizer crudo was o,k. could have been better with some creativity; the sea bass with clams was a miserly portion and the broth totally unremarkable. the olive oil cake et al was a solid b.. for 100.00 this was a poor value as no ingredients or prep cost were justifyable for the cost. we dine out 6 nights a week and given our experience and the limited menu we will wait 6 mos to see if things improve

I was tempted by every single item on the menu. We had the focaccia, 2 pastas, and a pork chop. All were to die for. I can’t wait to come back and try more things!
Overall an excellent meal. The only miss was inattentive service. It took an inordinate amount of time to be seated even though I had reservations. The waiter had me on the pay no mind list for good parts of the evening, only coming over to take my initial drink order after about 5 minutes after being seated. An even longer time to take my food order. Fortunately the quality of the food made up for that. I had the pork meatballs, caviar, pork ragu, and the lamb ossibuco. The cocktails and wine were great, The Quintessential and Chiara Condello respectively. Dessert was the Bourbon Chocolate Caramel Semifreddo accompanied by a Villa Pillo Vin Santo del Chianti.

The food was really great and the dessert was probably one of the best we’ve had in a long time! I absolutely recommend trying the chocolate Budino if you want to experience a real treat!

This was our first visit to Sorella and we already have a reservation to return in a few weeks. The food and service were outstanding. We were able to sit in a booth and were very comfortable. The banquette looked a little "close".
Had a few antipasti; budino was good, the rest was okay. Ordered 4 primi, portions were appetizer sizes. They were good, but not outstanding. Pricey as well. Pork chop was very good, juicy and tender. The caponata and salsa verde accompaniment was good too. I understand everything is expensive nowadays, but if you charge that much for pasta, at least give more than just 4 bites. Not recommending to friends.
Had amazing meal, food was delicious, melt in your mouth pasta, best broccoli I’ve ever had. Cocktails were special, service was excellent. Will be back!!! Have to try everything on the menu!

The exceptional food and service you would expect from the team at Acquarello. Highly recommend the Dry-Aged Beef Timballo, Warm Parmesan Budino and Dungeness Crab Salad. Looking forward to returning!

We ordered the chicory winter salad (amazing!), the kingfish crudo (very good), the fennel pollen (good), and the bucatini (super disappointing). The server was very nice but didn’t get in on us enough. The staff definitely seemed to need training on best practices. They were more concerned with setting new tables no one was even being seated at then they were filling our water glasses (we did this ourselves every time) and checking in to see if we needed anything. This place has potential but they definitely need to step up!
The food was outstanding. The Pig terrine was very flavorful and almost light for a terrine. The chard pasta was a surprise in that the chard was incorporated in the dumpling dough which made it very light in texture but big on flavor. It was to die for good! The Timballo was also very good with a nice tomato sauce. The truffle budino was also very good and a nice portion size, small enough to not be a heavy dish despite having cream in it. It had wonderful crunchy accoutrements that were a great contrast to the budino. I can’t recommend the pork chop enough. It was fabulous, perfectly cooked and I think brined so incredibly moist. The vegetables that accompanied the pork were perfect. For such a newly opened restaurant, things worked very smoothly. The staff was helpful and quite entertaining! We will be back!

This place was AMAZING! The food is delicious and subversive. The atmosphere is immaculate- it feels very NYC and glam. Couldn’t recommend enough.
Highly recommend Sorella! Cocktails are outstanding - The Fratello, Sorella Sour, and Quintessential. The Pumpkin minsetrone is rich but light and packs wonderful fall flavor. The parmesan Budino is a must in the antipasti section, along with the pig head terrine. Gramigna and Timaballo shine from the pastas, but the star of the show was the Lamb Osso Buco with heirloom polenta. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
I went with 2 friends and we ended the night with Amari flights for each of us. We let them choose and they brought us 9 different Amari's to work our way through (They have ~40 to choose from).

Wonderful dining experience, All the way from delicious cocktails to the antipasti to the pastas to the mains. Awesome bar snacks too. Our server was very knowledgeable about all of the food and walked us through descriptions of all the pastas.
