The original Sorbillo in Napoli via del Tribunali since 1935 still stands today and nearby, in the original house of his aunt, Gino opened “The House of Pizza,” a meeting place for the soul and cult of the city, devoted to his family, pizza and Naples.
excellent quality food
One of our must stops every time we are in the city. The closest pizza we have ever tasted to Naples
This was our first visit to Sorbillo, but it will not be our last. We live fairly close and I can’t believe we’ve never eaten there before.
We began with two starters: the ricotta-stuffed zucchini flowers and the escarole. Both were generous servings and delicious. We especially enjoyed the escarole because we had never had it prepared with the olives, capers, and anchovies before.
We then had the Naduja pizza and the squid ink linguine with seafood. The pizza was perfect: a very soft crust and wonderfully spicy toppings. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the seafood was delicious.
We will definitely be back!
Our server, Anastasia, was so lovely! The food was excellent. Highly recommend the escarole and the pizza Liguria with pesto.
Una buona pizza napoletana finalmente anche a New York.
Burrata e porcini come antipasto e babà come desert, ci tornerò presto
Unfortunately we didn’t like the pizza.
Authentic. Excellent. Delicious. We had a great time, the staff is very attentive and great suggestions on wine. We loved our pizzas. And we’re still talking about the dinner the day after.
Pizza was good, but gets a little soggy in the center, Gnocchi could be a little more fluffy & tasty (was dense)
Out of tiramisu at 1PM
Invece...
Real authentic Neapolitan pizza! Go there for the real deal!
One of our favorite pizza places in the city. The dough is light and fluffy. Never greasy. Service is always super nice. Wish I they had a cider option but other than that it’s great.
Cibo ottimo..smembrava di essere a Napoli!
Authentic Neapolitan Pizza, attentive service and Italian vibe. Try the Baba' for dessert!
Great food, friendly staff, not overly crowded so we could actually hear one another.
I love this place, it’s in a good area, staff is amazing and the food rocks. Can’t complain.
I’m gluten free so I was a bit disappointed at the fact they don’t serve gluten free pizza only pasta. I had an amazing pizza in Naples Italy and assumed the NY location will have it as well. Other than that the food and service was great!
Food and service is amazing. Our favorite Italian place in NYC
My boyfriend and I love margherita pizza and this place blew us away! They were very accommodating as well when we asked for more basil. The staff will also seat you bases on the occasion which I think was great!
In NYC to romp around and decided to give this GEM on Bowery st a go. Food was amazing. Tried the fried pizza special along with the the carbonara pasta dish. Prefect. Price was right too!!! Staff was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Definitely a go to place.
Really tasty pizza and high quality ingredients make this one of the better pizza options in a city full of them.
Wonderful service and delicious food!
Always is a pleasure to be in that restaurant that mostly transport me to Italy, the food, the place, the ambience, the service always overall and the best...
They charged us 20% tip in our check!
Food is excellent -- probably the one of the best pizza places I've had in the city. The service on the other hand is quite poor. We had to ask for water twice, service was remarkably slow and we had to flag down our waiter for anything (ordering, dessert, check, water, water). The restaurant was not even packed enough to warrant the lack of appropriate service (Monday night, half the restaurant full). The dessert was also excellent though.
Best pizza in NYC. My friend and I ordered 2 pies, the prosciutto pie and the margherita con bufala mozzarella pie. Both were unbelievable. Great service.
We were happy to eat here after a trip to Naples, where Sorbillo got started. I thought the pizza with Buffalo Mozz. was very good. We also had a salad, and the Tiri Miso, which was most excellent. My only complaint was a large table of folks close by had too much to drink and I just couldn't hear anymore. It was a nice time out. Wait staff and management were great.
The bottom part and the border was somewhat burnt and it affected the taste itself. Someone used to the original Sorbillo in Naples spots this instantly. I don't know whether it was just a case, because of excessive oven temperature, or lack of know how. All the rest was definitely good and is a benchmark in North America, though for such a price I expect the oven temperature to be correct.
Having just returned from Italy, it was lovely to be in this very Italian pizza restaurant. Their attention and care with the food reminded me of what I love about Italy, and overall I was impressed. The food was also excellent. The only very small things were: The happy hour wine was $7, which felt a little steep (given that I just got back from Italy and excellent wines were $5-6); and that one of the waiters kept trying to take our dishes away before we were done eating them, but I think he was trying to be overly helpful, and I don't fault him for that. The staff was very friendly and I would recommend the place.
This is the best most authentically Italian pizza in NY
Best Italian style pizza in nyc. Big name Pizzeria from Napoli. For some reason the restaurant is a little empty. Its strange that you can walk in on a Friday night.
Sconsigliato e deludente
Eravamo in quattro persone e sono state servite solo 3 pizze.
A great spot for Italian pizza in the city but 38$ for a pizza and a beer is way overpriced.
best Neopolitan pizza in NYC
After coming back from Italy, I was craving authentic Italian food and an authentic experience, all of which you get when you go to Sorbillo! I 100% recommend it.
Has gone downhill. The pizza is really good, but the service was extremely slow, the waiters wouldn't stop checking up on us without much coordination amongst themselves, and the place was nearly empty
Mai successo in altri ristoranti. PESSIMO comportamento!
I am an italian living in NY and have been to the original sorbillo in Naples. This is nothing like it. Also the food is very Americanized.
I had the saltimbocca alla romana. The real saltimbocca is veil it has no mushrooms and no cream. Call it chicken with mushrooms or something else, but not saltimbocca.
Also the frittatina di pasta which is a typical Neapolitan street food, was very dry.
I like Sorbillo in Naples and will keep on going there when in Italy, and if I want Americanized Italian food I will go to the many so called Italian restaurants in NY.
The staff was very efficient and nice.
