No servers for allocated tables - had 5 different people come over and ask if we wanted to order a drink (after having ordered it); same with desert. When paying, we were handed the cheque and the waiter stood there for us to pay immediately (while we were in the middle of a conversation). Very awkward.

Menu very limited for main courses (pizza was my only option really). The pino wine was sold out so had to get a glass of sav blanc by tap (9 euro), crazy prices! Wouldn’t return

Building still under partial construction. Service poor, they tried to seat us at a tiny temporary table between 2 larger tables even though we booked 2 weeks in advance and there were plenty of window seats free. The servers (multiple, not specific to one) manner was poor, abrupt & I engaged.
The risotto & chips were extremely salty but the brownie & coffee were very good.
No bathrooms on restaurant level. The bathrooms are superbly decorated but a terrible smell from them once you hit the hall.
Disappointing experience overall. Hopefully will improve once they get established.

Both times I’ve eaten here the mains were really nice all be it a sparse selection. However the deserts are practically uneatable, the brownie is both tasteless and dry with a side of what can only be described as sawdust. The cheesecake could have bounced if I wanted to, not enough sauce altogether disappointing. The waitress seemed uninterested and a lot of them seemed as if is was their first time working in a restaurant. In general nice food overpriced cocktails and awful deserts don’t think I’d go back.

Lots of teething problems. I won’t rush back. Brunch menu is very limited at the weekend - especially for a vegetarian. Staff need a lot more training but overall were nice and polite. Will go back in the new year and try dinner instead

We had a gorgeous breakfast. Lovely food, room and staff.
We’ll be back for brunch or dinner as soon as we can get a reservation (and COVID allows!) .

Stunning looking. Bill was rudely dropped on table after 45mins post asking for desert menu by another waiter. Lunch brunch menu basic, small and over priced bar pizzas which were cheap. All food not hot enough and plates cold. Possibly teething issues as they get up to speed. Wine over priced. Decor is stunning with nice high ceilings and lovely booths by window with view of city. Our waitress was prob one of the best there, attentive with personality, others looked lost, welcome upstairs was poor/non existent.

Unfortunately not what I expected. The atmosphere and location are great but the restaurant has big issues - we were very early for breakfast and they welcomed us saying that there wasn't any type of juice.
Then after we ordered the waitress came back saying they had no tea except for the classic breakfast one.

Quality of food was average, pancakes are good but nothing amazing (with the competition of a pancake master just in front of them) and the mushroom & spinach toast was also not really something you remember.

Prices are exagerated, for those prices you would expect top quality not such average one.
You're still in time to either replace chefs or train them properly.

The experience is worth just for the location and view of Cork but you just do it once.

Service was really poor - a full time job trying to get the attention of staff, although our waitress was lovely. Also it is very disruptive not having toilets on the same floor as the restaurant- especially when one of your friends is disabled!

Worst service I have ever experienced in cork. Was told the bar was closed when we ordered tea after our main meal only to have tables beside us served drink 20 minutes later!
Main course took an hour to come and the table had no water.
We complained and were told people had pre ordered drink even though we were never offered that option.
Food is mediocre and very expensive.
View is not great either

Food was nice & tasty, good selection & great presentation.
Staff were poor. Had to ask for water for the table, dessert menu & bill multiple times. They were sometimes just busy chatting amongst themselves. Mask wearing was questionable among staff, senior staff pulled mask from face when they were speaking to others, defeating the purpose of the mask!
It was FREEZING, we were sat next to the door to the balcony area, where there was contractors working, they were popping in & out so it was a very cold spot.
It was nice to visit, I would recommend a visit but honestly it didn’t live up to the hype! I was underwhelmed!

Gorgeous lunch at Cork's newest restaurant and only rooftop bar. I had the fish n chips. Possibly one of the nicest fish n chips I've had in a long time with a lovely tempura. Extremely satisfying without the heavy feeling of other offerings. Of course, the setting is gorgeous with views of Cork City and some stunning interiors. It felt like being in the Ivy in London.
Only qualm would be the price. I think they may need to lower their prices a bit as we enter recession.

Practically no COVID-19 prevention measures.
A table for 4 was filled right next to our table for 2 (less than a metre away and no screen), and equally as close to the table for 2 on the other side of them.
Cos salad was pathetic.
Parmesan fries were a mix of soggy and uncooked.
Pizza was good.
Americano coffee was good, but flat white coffee was basically a white coffee - maybe barista could revisit the training manual for what a flat white should be like.
Took ages to been seen to pay the bill.
Setting is nice but was so far away from the windows that I can’t comment on the view of Cork.
Don’t plan on going back.

Having booked 2 weeks in advance, I was so looking forward to having breakfast here.

The whole experience was a joke. The staff were very visibly not covid compliant which is very unsettling during a pandemic.

- Chefs weren’t wearing masks or gloves, talking over the plates with waitresses, handling food with bare hands and then wiping their hands on a dirty cloth hanging from their belt
(unhygenic)
- Sauce left open on the counter where several builders walked beside with no masks on.
- waiter scraping food from dirty plates into a bin right behind me and then straight away picked up coffees to bring to a table. (No hand washing or even sanitising after handling bins and food waste)
- waitress had her hair down and leaned over my food. Her thumbs were stuck right in the bowl where the food was.
- hair in the sugar bowl and milk left out on table (unhygenic)
- noise level is was irritating as the kitchen is open (blenders and scraping plates)
- expensive for poor quality food.
- eggs were undercooked.
- pancakes were chewy and dense.

Overall such a disappointing experience. €40 for two people to have a sub-par breakfast. Hopefully they can figure out these issues because the venue itself is beautiful. Just disappointing seeing a new business decide to open during a pandemic and clearly not care about customer safety.

Menu was small. Misleading. I ordered “ squid and prawn SALAD” it was basically calamari and fried prawns with A hand full of leaves that can’t be advertised as a salad and €17 was cheeky for essentially a starter. Service was lovely staff very nice and attentive. Still very much like a building site but I understand it is only newly open. If menu improves I will return. Thanks.

We were delighted to be the first birthday party in Sophies cork on Monday. For my sister's 30th. Our hostess Gigi (hope I spell correctly) was extremely helpful and our server Vicky was superb. Both couldn't have been more helpful. The food was outstanding and beautifully presented. And as 2 of our party are veggies, they were both delighted with the options also available to them. Overall a perfect experience and will 100% be returning as much as possible to Sophies @ The Dean 👍👍👍👍💞. Marc C

Had the opportunity to get lunch on Monday 14th December here, at 12:30. There was some minor construction going on around the hotel and restaurant, but nothing too intrusive. The decor was lovely, and the view over Cork city were stunning. A few bits and pieces on the menu weren't available because of a hectic breakfast, but our waitress was very apologetic and and very helpful when it came to any questions about the food. Another vegetarian/vegan option would be nice, but the pasta was tasty and my partner had high praise for the beef. Overall, I'm excited to see where Sophie's is going and would definitely return and recommend to others. Best of luck!

We had lunch on Monday, host sat us at a table near the wall when there was lots of booths free! Staff were like headless chickens. Our waitress placed my partners cutlery down on his napkin and when she saw his knife was dirty she quickly turned it over so he wouldn’t see. The barman was slurping the fruit for cocktails whilst taking on and off his mask between bites. Service was slow and looked as if no one knew what they were doing. The host threw the bill at us , no question of another drink, dessert tea or coffee. The restaurant was quiet, no music not a sign of Christmas.
With not many opportunities to dine out these days this was a disappointment. Food was nice.

A bit chaotic, but given they had just opened, that’s to be expected! All servers were so lovely and genuine. Keep that tone and authenticity, once the first few weeks pass everyone will find their feet and understand the flow of the restaurant!
Had the pancakes (divine) and a v good Americano. €4 for a tiny orange juice is a bit steep but that’s the faint of the brand, never the staff. Pricey in general but it’sa great view
