We are hosting A Bourbon Tasting Dinner May 16 , 2019
Mexican Once de Mayo Dinner 2019, 3 course, RESERVATION ONLY
Sontuosa means sumptuous! Ernesto Guzman is bringing flavors from Mexico, Italy, France and America to the main line in a comfortable BYOB eatery.
Delicious food, good service.
Always an excellent experience. Well managed and creative wonderful food.
We had fabulous dinner at Sontuosa! Food was delicious and the service was outstanding! Will definitely recommend to friends!
Yes, really love this place. it has become our go to place for dinner out and we bring friends as often as possible. Great food, great warmth and hospitality, great value and easy to park!
Great food, great service, warm and fun atmosphere.
Thanks, Martin, these words are exactly what we are striving to accomplish!
Fun night (owners so friendly!!) and very good food! Pizza was great!! Loved the ambiance and feel of the place! We’ll definitely be back!
Thank you so much for your support and kind words!
The branzino was the fish special and it was delicious! The price wasn't listed but definitely higher than other entrees. It was worth whatever the cost but it helps when the server offers the price and not make the customer awkwardly ask the price. I also understand when a place has a liquor license, they often charge a corking fee when you bring your own wine. However when a restaurant proudly advertises BYOB and then charges a $5 corking fee for screw top bottle, you feel a little taken advantage. Overall I liked this restaurant and will be back for special occasions.
We appreciate your review of us. We will instruct the servers to announce the entree fees which are $26-$45. Daily fresh catch is always $32. so it runs in the middle, it should have been offered without asking, I apologize for that. We address our fee as a Convenience Fee for providing stemware, coolers , recycling, etc . We don't generate any revenue on beverages, we don't believe we should filter the costs into our menu because it seems unfair to those that don't indulge to pay for others
Dinner with friends was good. My "bronzino" was the thinnest I've ever seen, but other food was great.
A bit pricey for a neighborhood restaurant and the corkage fee is always a bit of "is this really necessary?"
Thank you for taking your time to write a review, we appreciate your views. In regards to a small filet I must say that I didn't see it or I would have addressed it with the kitchen had I known at the time. In a spot that's prime and loads of free parking our overhead is a big nut, we try our best to keep reasonable menu prices without sacrificing high quality ingredients. We also consider a Convenience Fee reasonable to provide stemware, recycle plus occasional emergency visits for accidents.
Everything was outstanding! Unique menu, great decor, fantastic food, wonderful service. Can't wait to go back!
Wow, Thanks, Tom! We are trying so hard to give every guest a rating like your experience!
I would have loved to give this restaurant more stars, but our experience was that the kitchen could not keep up with the customers. We waited over 30 minutes AFTER finishing our apps and the delivery of the entree. At one point, the hostess, unsolicited by us, told us that our entries were being plated now and would be out soon...then it was an additional 12 minutes before we received our entrees. It was a long night...
Yes, we had a cook leave 15 minutes before service and two floor gals were out with fevers...Timing was off, no doubt. I did the best I could to address guests so that you didn't feel ignored, I went on information that the kitchen gave me. I apologize and can only hope you try us again.
Food was very good but we had to wait extremely long to get food
Donna, you are spot on about timing. We had a line cook leave abruptly because his father was hospitalized and we just weren't able to replace him. I apologize and I'd like to invite you back. Please let me know when you'd like to come and I'll make sure to take care of you. Mary
Great BYOB - delicious food- had pasta with seafood, grilled calamari and lamb chops- fresh!
Thanks for your kind words, Ingrid!
We really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was excellent. There was a neighborly vibe to it as well.
Felt that they were a little burned out or overwhelmed by the time we arrived. We had a table for 8 and it seemed to throw them off a bit
Overwhelmed is accurate. A reservation of 13 came 40 minutes late for a rehearsal dinner on top of our sous chef calling out because of a stomach bug. On top of the timing issue, one of our waitresses became unable to handle the urgency. I apologize for the delay between courses for your party of eight. Please contact me so that I may rectify your experience. I'd be happy to "gift" you for a proper experience.
We were four persons dining for the first time here. We all enjoyed the experience. The menu was versatile and user friendly. The choices were several in each category but not overwhelming.
All the preparation was well done. DELICIOUS salad with beets and goat cheese. Also very good classic pizza. I only had one reservation for not giving it 5*...the soup was slightly watery(soup of the day, lentils escarole) and there were no salt and peper shakers on the table.
The service was excellent(Bria).
We have already determined it's a go-back-to kinda place!
A great hidden gem in the center of Bryn Mawr.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere lovely for a neighborhood restaurant.
This was our first time eating at this restaurant. The food was very good. We had the shrimp/polenta and grilled calamari appetizers. We also had the pasta special, Ox tail Paccheri. This pasta dish was so good, I had to share it with my family. My wife and son shared one of the pizza and it was very enjoyable. The service was a bit slower than we expected. We were a bit pressed for time because we were going to a 7pm movie around the corner. They seemed a bit understaffed for a Saturday night that quickly got very busy. We will try to come again.
Great service, great food
Another great meal at sontuaso
Excellent as usual.
Excellent meal by both! The service was great. There was a good buzz! Will be back!
Friday evening, our first visit could not have been more enjoyable. When a restaurant has diners enter through the spotless kitchen, guided on the outside of the separating counter, it's a bold move.
Artichoke and Ceasar were both great openings, the snapper and steak entrees were examples of well crafted plates. Presentations were interesting, flavor and textural combinations were different and delicious. Entree prices hover around $30, expect a tab of about $90 for two appetizers and two entrees, with a $5 corkage. Even on a Friday night, the husband and wife owners both made a point of introducing themselves to diners. Highly recommended for the reasonably sophisticate palate.
The food is delicious. The seafood is purchased fresh every morning. The owners (Ernesto and Mary) will treat you as if you are sitting in your own kitchen. Put this BYOB on your short list for weekdays and weekends. You can't get more sumptuos food and great service anywhere else on the mainline. ENJOY;)
They are trying very hard and are interested in doing well, I will go back and my own wine list is better than most restaurants
We had the fixed price Valentine's Day menu which offered three dishes (appetizer, entree, dessert). I had the mushroom flatbread, the surf & turf, and the chocolate torte. My husband had the oysters Rockefeller, the bouillabaisse, and the lemon custard. Every dish was delightful and a true treat for the tastebuds. The cuisine is traditional European but with a personal twist. There is something unique to the flavor. The dining area is a large room, but feels cozy due to the lighting and the furnishings.
Horrible experience. Owner was rude and dismissive. Food was sub par. Charged for extra bread request. Will never go back here and will tell everyone I know what a terrible meal my party of three experienced
The salad and appetizer that was ordered , was just that, a salad and an appetizer. The mussels are always served with grilled bread on the bowl. We serve bread as a courtesy, not as a meal or a filler. Extra bread is an uncharge, there is a cost to providing it. Your artichoke was properly prepared and presented, as the menu states. When the owner explained to you the traditional way to eat an artichoke you appeared to take offense , we apologize for that, it was not his intent.
I don’t really write reviews unless something is deserved of it. I dined here last night . I have also eaten here multiple times. Ernesto and Mary always make you feel like they are cooking for you personally. The food is always fresh. They care that you like what they are making for you. I have eaten here with a friend who has an allergy to onions. Ernesto has just taken care of their needs and made something from scratch. Desserts are amazing and home made.
Overall, I love eating here. The food is fresh. The service is excellent and they care about you as people. They don’t look at you like a number and they have to turn the table and kick you out. They look at you as you are hopefully enjoying your meal as you would like too. That’s another reason I love eating here.
I highly recommend the food, experience and overall attention to the dining experience that you will receive when you eat here.
It’s worth it a try if you haven’t gone and worth it to keep going back. Sanutuosa is an awesome place to dine.
A wonderful birthday dinner celebration for our son. Delicious food, excellent service, would highly recommend to family and friends. Thank you!
Great! Delicious dinner. Great service.
I was really looking forward to trying this, was hoping for a great, new local restaurant. Service was all over the place - we were sitting next to the kitchen and the entire time, the servers and hostess were totally confused about where dishes were supposed to go, whose they were, etc. We waited AN HOUR for our entrees, and the food was not worth the wait. To make matters worse, the kitchen kept burning bread (?) on the grill so the room smelled like a campfire, so much so that I had to walk out because my eyes were burning. Such a disappointment.
We arrived at 6:30 and by 8 was not served our dinner.
Thank you for taking the time to post, I apologize for such a bad experience. We had 4 staff out because of the flu. I remember you and your husband and tried my best .I'd like to send you a gift certificate for you to use for a future visit. Please call and ask for me and I'll take care of it for you. Mary
Food came out wrong. They had to redo, and by the time it came back, the others had long finished.
May be ok for a lunch.
In a tough night Mary was great!
Thanks, Luis, it was a very tough night. The flu struck several staff members and we did the best we could under very tough circumstances. I truly appreciate your support!
Flavors! Frequently we like to come to Sontuosa for comfort pasta. Yet hands-down, the fish dishes are always superbly prepared. Tonight I started with grilled shrimp on a frisé bed with aoli starter, followed by a main of bronzino on a bed of green beans and mashed potatoes. The mashed was just enough to plate the presentation, the green beans were alienated and the fish, smothered with a prep of green olives, roasted grape tomatoes and well, I’m not entirely sure about the other components that topped the fish, I just dug in. It was delicious.
Thank you so much Clemence, for your wonderful review! We are so happy that you understand how a simple menu can please the palette with such complex flavors! We look forward to seeing you again!
A wonderful night out with the girls. Great food and charming service! A must try!
Maryanne, thanks for taking the time to post a nice review! Ernesto and I strive to make it a pleasing experience for all of our guests.
I’ve been dining at Sontuosa since it first opened, almost two years ago, and I’ve never been disappointed. However, our four-course New Years Eve meal still managed to exceed all our expectations. My husband proclaimed it the best meal he’d ever had, and I would agree. From the wonderful, subtle aroma of the escargot, before I even tasted these perfectly cooked delicacies, through to dessert, I didn’t leave one morsel on my plate. And even though the popularity of this cozy restaurant is growing, owner Ernesto and his wife Mary never fail to say a few words to each customer. Getting to the point, though, where you need to book early, especially for their special events.
The food at Sontuosa is always wonderful - fresh and homemade, creative and delicious. This visit we had grilled bronzino with a lovely light lemon sauce and tortellini with pancetta sauce. All terrific.
Mussels were inedible. Capuchin o came with curdled milk on top! Can’t go back.
I always like Sontousa. The food is very good and it's a BYOB which saves money.
