The Sons of Essex menu is a reflection of the diverse melting pot of cultures within the Lower East Side. The old school 'Bowery Boys' atmosphere and 'Gangs of New York' vibe pay homage to the history of the Lower East Side, fusing a traditional american comfort food menu with a range of spices fromView Private Dining Details

Exception excellent good... service and staff friendly and professional....5 Big Stars to the establishment...Our group had a great time together dining....See you all soon
Couldn't of had a better evening ! The food was enjoyable and the music kept me rocking the entire time I was there. It was a great way to start my friends bday off. Special shout out to our server Alexis. She was super cute and extremely nice and even spiced up the birthday song for my friend. I will be back for sure.
The woman who seated us was very rude and told us our party of four was not big enough to sit at the booth. Moments later a party of three was seated into the same we were denied. Other than this our actual waitress was good and it is a fun environment with good music and decent food
Ambience great, awful food.
Dry fried chicken, tough lobster roll, lemony avo toast and vinegar/onion heavy salad.
sadly was the worst meal I can remember in nyc for almost $250 for two.
Everything was nice however drinks were light and a little to sweet
Good food in a nice atmosphere with friendly staff!
Met with family & friends.
Overall really terrific food and service. Highly recommended
I loved everything about the restaurant ❤️. The shrimp Mac and cheese was awesome, drinks were good and the music was up to date which made it fun .
So I don’t know if I just happened to be have been there on off day it was mediocre at best. Went for brunch , was underwhelmed by the food. their signature dishes Were unimpressive. Service felt nonexistent. The DJ played good music. It was very chill and relax & Casual. If you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere this is the place to go but like I said the food wasn’t anything special and I probably won’t be returning.
Celebrated my husband's birthday during brunch. Had a great time, excellent DJ that played old school hip hop. Will definitely recommend.
I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and we loved it, the drinks were good and of course the food was delicious. The ambiance was a little noisy for a conversation but its good for dinner anyway and a night out.
Amazing food, great drinks, great waitress! I loved it.
Son’s of Essex was everything we expected. The food was awesome and so was the service!! Definitely will come back!
Great vibe and good food. However the tables are extremely small and sharing appetizers with a friend I thought something was gonna fall off the table. If you love hip hop music you’ll love this place. Awesome music 👌🏽
One of the cutest places with pretty decent food, great ambiance, and amazing craft cocktails.
Nice location, Great music,Great Service, Good Comfort Food. Real Trendy Spot.Extremely Popular. Go on a week night, Crowded on the weekend's!!
Great food..great drinks and amazing music. Felt like I was back in the 90s
Great spot for a fun date night and for groups celebrating a special occasion.
Our waiter was great! Loved his hair and super attentive all night! The food was out of this world. Loved the bacon mac & cheese and the pork sliders. Would absolutely go back for the food, drinks, and dope music. I met up with a friend from college and the dj was playing all of college day songs. We were pretty happy to say the least!
Great place for a girls evening/ brunch out! The service was amazing and music was on point.
Great food + great service. The DJ was awesome! I will definitely be back. Thanks for making my birthday a memorable one.
Enjoyed the food and music the waitress Alexis is great
We came here for the Saturday brunch and had a great time. Everything was good, from the music to the food!
Great hip-hop speak easy vibes. The food was amazing. Prices were not outrageous
Fun local place. Limited menu.
Very loud music at the end of the night
Always a good time. The DJ is awesome.
Great food, cool vibe, pounding back-beat of rap, attentive wait staff...what's not to love? Staying in lower east side and looking for a place to eat. No reservation so we had to take a chance. Based on reviews and location we decided to go to Sons of Essex and it was a great decision. Highly recommended!
Friday evening at 7:30pm, was seated immediately. Our waiter, Alejandro was attentive and always nearby. Portions sizes for appetizers we're a bit on the large side, hence the 'for sharing' category. Cocktails were delicious, and you'll easily find yourself having more than one. Truffle Mac and cheese with lobster, lobster rolls (deconstructed), scallops, truffle fries, were all delicious. The music was at a decent level before 10pm. It got quite loud after, (we did have to yell a little to be heard), so keep that in mind. My one complaint, the birthday dessert, at $56, the cones were empty. It made a very lovely presentation, but for that price, I would have preferred if they were not simply four empty ice cream cones, turned upside down. Overall, pleasant experience.
Our waitress had an attitude and we had to keep on asking her for things.
What a place!!!! An amazing place. The service was great! Drinks were tasty and finally the food was fresh and delicious. Let's not forget the music was a killer!!! DJ was perfect!
Heard about the brunch scene here, decided to make a dinner reservation for myself and a few friends; and Sons of Essex did not disappoint. Food Great. Drinks Great. Music Great. Vibes Great. Employees Super Friendly. Will be back for Sure!
The food never disappoints. It's a new go to for me.
I've barely gotten my voice back after screaming through dinner. I understand wanting to set an energy level with music, but a restaurant does not need to mimic the musical stylings or volume of a spin class. The food was decent once it came, but one of my party's meals didn't come out for a long while, so the rest of our meals cooled as we waited.
Great! Amazing place.
This place was recommended by a friend and we are so glad that we went. Music was old school hip hop. The food and drinks were fantastic. After our meal the restaurant turned into a club and we danced the night away. We will def. come back and recommend to anyone that is visiting NY.
Loved the food and the atmosphere - will definitely go back.
Great food, service and ambience. Will be back again soon.
This one of my favorite brunch locations. Good music, service and food.
