I ordered French toast and chicken instead of the chicken and waffles but the chicken had no flavor and we we didn’t find out until the bill came that the drink we ordered was not bottomless despite the set up of the menu.
The waitress was in a bad mood. She did even say hi to us
Great DJ and drinks! The food and service was good, too.
Was just the atmosphere I was looking for for my birthday brunch, had a lot of fun with my friends eating, drinking and dancing. You only have 2 hours for the table and it did take a little while for mine to get our menus and food, but we ended up staying for almost 3 hours, if not more, so it made up for the lost time. The food is average, nothing special, so you go more for the atmosphere rather than the food. Overall had a really great time!
I’d recommend this place over & over again! From the moment I walked in, the music was bomb. Food was good. Good vibes all around. Loved the diverse crowd
Best brunch in NYC! DJ was playing the best hip hop & R&B. The crowd was beautiful and vibrant. Great food and excellent service.
The music and vibe were perfect! I can’t wait to come back!
Will definitely recomend this to friends who likes rnb song and would not mind loud music, the music is really cool , food is good and service is great.
Great atmosphere... nice hip hop music .. great customer service.. staff catered to our needs and wAnts
Came for Brunch on a Sunday. Food was decent, mimosas were as expected, and the playlist was awesome. The overall experience was good, and I would recommend this restaurant to friends. I felt like it was a slow morning overall though. Everything just felt average when my expectations were high. I look forward to coming back and giving the lunch and dinner menus a try
Very friendly staff and food was amazing.
I definitely recommend the Birthday parade! If you are a lot of people or there are bigger people in your party ask for a table in advance not a booth. The parking was easy to find on the street and one block over was municipal parking. They were accommodating if you call and you know your beyond the 20 mins grace period they figure it out. Beware kitchen closes at 10pm although they are open significantly later; so don’t book reservation after 8:45pm or arrive later than 9pm. The food was good although not many options so look before you go because they ran out of the Salmon; so many of us had to go with our second choice. The macaroni and cheese is the best dish on the menu, they have 5 different versions we had plain. So good one of my guests ordered one to go.
Great food and ambience. Hip-hop music was perfect. No complaints at all. Love this place.
I would definitely recommend Sons Of Essex. The food and drinks were excellent. Music was great too bad we left when DJ arrived. But overall no complaints.
I have been here for happy hour & Sunday Brunch. Great music and food. Must try the truffle Mac n cheese !!!
If you want to go to a very high energy brunch where the music is great then come here. The staff was super friendly and attentive.
I’ve been here multiple times and it’s always been a bit for me. Sometimes it can get loud but for most of the time, it gets the job done
Fun brunch environment. A must go if you like fried chicken and drink specials with a live dj. Highly recommend for big groups/special occasions
Sons of Essex was cool for brunch if I would’ve known it was an unlimited boozy brunch I would’ve have gone though. The website is a bit misleading! Also the food could’ve been warmer but DJ was lit!
While the servers were friendly and nice, the food was average and it was extremely loud could not have conversation at the table. Wouldn’t go back.
This place is a hip hop brunch place. Very cool, delicious, but super loud. I went with family (teenagers) for brunch and we couldn’t hear each other at all.
Perfect spot to celebrate a bday. Food & drinks are great. Music is lively. Then DJ comes on around 10/10:30. Kitchen closes and this place gets very crowded. Nice crowd.
Food was very good and the Dj was amazing. We had a blast!
love this place. 5 stars for customer service, music, and food. Always have a good time when we go here
Group of friends and I were visiting from Chicago for the weekend and went on a Sunday for brunch. The music was great, food was pretty tasty, and the ambiance was lively. Our waitress was nice but the staff seemed like they were in a hurry to get us to leave our table. Some guy kept trying to take plates away when we weren’t done, and my friend asked the waitress for a small dessert for my bday and she did a little eye roll. Besides that we had a lot of fun!
The this place is awesome. I loved the food, service and crowd.
A really fun place - very loud, great people watching and the perfect place for a birthday etc.
Great atmosphere, old school hip hop music did not disappoint. They offer a limited menu for brunch, but the food was awesome!!!
The staff were very friendly and polite. Food was good value for money. And loved the vibe of the place!
So unimpressed with the burger. It just...wasn't good. And the "truffle" fries were nary even a trace of truffle. The server was overeager but her timing was all wrong, asking us if we wanted another drink when we had an almost full current drink and asking us how everything was a second after we got our food (and not returning once we actually tasted it). Someone else swooped in to take my husband's plate away literally as he was finishing his last bite. I guess they wanted us out of there quickly!
I used to love this place and was really disappointed by this experience.
A awesome spot great music
Our waitress, Emme, was so professional and treated us like a wedding planner. Every aspect of the time spent there was first class
The place was first class and the atmosphere truly exciting. That , and good food and drink, we could not ask for anything more
Great Sunday brunch. Try the lobster eggs Benedict.
