This place is always delicious!
We picked Son's Addition as a late Valentine's Day dinner because who needs social norms. We went on a Saturday, making reservations a few days before with ease. We were excited by the online menu, and the pricing felt quite reasonable, so we came with high expectations. We were not disappointed. We ordered the Bacon Kimchi Deviled Eggs, which were delicious, but slightly too salty for both of our taste. Our host and server were thoughtful, attentive, and friendly in the extreme. Next came the Bone Marrow, which was absolutely incredible. The dishes were spaced out well and the meal had a nice flow to it. The ambiance in the restaurant was quite pleasant... excellent for a date. The music was a little loud at times but overall the volume was pleasant. Our third dish was the Poached Chicken and Crispy Skin... which was an explosion of different and distinct flavors. It was intense and absolutely delicious. 10/10 would order again. Very intriguing flavor combinations. We finished our meal with the Broiled Yellowtail Collar. This was my favorite dish of the meal by far. The flavor of the fish and the accompanying tastes to complement were perfectly executed. For dessert, we ordered the Apple Huckleberry Crumble. It was a dessert made in heaven, and I would go back just for that. It was the perfect way to cap off a delicious meal. One starter, three small plates, and a dessert was the perfect amount of food for a pair to leave full. This is an excellent, affordable place to eat, and is wonderful for a romantic night out. Staff is friendly and service is expert. The only hiccup was when my partner asked for no cilantro or as little as possible, as the menu was generally heavy on cilantro. The first dish was customized to order, but the no cilantro request was lost in translation for the following dishes. Despite this, we had a wonderful evening and appreciate the restaurant and its staff very much. Great dinner spot.
Went for Valentine's Day. Tasting menu was amazing. Service superb. Wonderful experience.
Good brunch spot - overall yummy. Took reservations which is awesome.
Avocado toast very citrus-y and good. Waffles were good.
Biscuits were very good - want more fruit compote!
Breakfast sandwich too salty (and I love salt).
We all enjoyed the food and the service!
Though it was restaurant week, they also had the full menu available which was what we went for...
Nice space and delicious food!
I was very excited to dine at Son's Addition, as I'd heard great reviews and had wanted to go for a long time. The food was great, but the service was absolutely terrible. All appetizers were taken from our table with half the food still on them - this is after telling the wait staff twice that we were still working. I assumed they were rushing the plates off because our entrees were ready - no, we then waited 20 minutes until our food came. We ordered a bottle of wine, a red which was served to us quite warm. Not the end of the world, but I asked if they could chill the bottle for a few minutes. They completely forgot about the bottle, asking us if we'd like to order more wine 3 times throughout the dinner. Really took away from the great food experience, certainly not worth the price.
I ate here twice over a ten day period...I found them due to Restaurant Week...had never heard of the restaurant and after checking out the menu for Restaurant Week decided to go and loved it...went back a week later again and it is now on our regular list of places in the Mission.....great food, attentive staff, a bit loud after 7pm but manageable by going earlier! Thanks!
Excellent all the way around!
I had dinner at Son's Addition during SF Restaurant Week and was disappointed to see that the prix fixe menu did not highlight their best known dishes. The best dish I had all evening was an espresso shot-sized cup of roasted squash and pumpkin soup that was given to each customer participating in SF Restaurant week.
For my first course, I had the broccoli that was roasted perfectly and each bite was full of flavor. I highly suggest the restaurant adding this to their menu as it would be big hit. I chose the ribollita for my second course because it was the only pescatarian friendly option and do not recommend this. I'm glad this isn't on their dinner menu. It was bland and mushy all around, even the croutons that were supposed to add a different texture. I was excited for my third course - toasted coconut flan for dessert. I always love a silky smooth, and jiggly flan. If this is the flan you like, I'd stay away from this one.
Great ambience and service. Delicious food and wine pairings!
Great food, but seemed understaffed for Sunday brunch. We were seated for nearly 10 minutes before we got menus. Took the server another five minutes to make it to our table. Once the food was ordered, all was well. Very flavorful and well prepared.
What a gem! We really liked son’s addition. The food was really delicious and the bar tender was really helpful. Only minus point for not having our table available even if we made reservations we decided to sit at the bar instead.
Came here for the restaurant week menu with some friends... very accommodating service. They were about 30 minutes late for our reservation, but comp'd us some starters and also kept checking in with us to apologize and make sure we were okay. We got it, things happen, and the service and hospitality was very much appreciated. As for the food, broccoli and ribbolita were delicious. Sourdough bread was good as well as a small bite at the beginning. Deviled eggs, as others have reviewed, are delicious, but have fish sauce, so beware vegetarians. Two in our group got the chocolate sea salt cookies and devoured them, actions speak louder than words.
The food quality was fresh and clean and the flavors were distinguishable. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back.
Hamburger & fries were terrific but restaurant week menu was disappointing, considering that the hamburger was less than half of the total & one of the two desserts was a cookie.
The food was perfect and the ambiance was a bonus! Would definitely recommend 10 out of 10!
This is the standard we compare other restaurants to. In terms of value and sheer deliciousness it can't be beat.
Here for the first time during restaurant week...fabulous menu but more importantly the food was amazing. Fresh, innovative and delicious. The Roasted Broccoli and Friends and the Ribolitta were wonderful!!! Nice staff, good but slightly slow service (to be fair they were really busy)....a new place on my go to list!
Loved Son’s Addition. The food was delicious and surprisingly affordable for the quality. Service was fabulous and the ambiance was great. We’ll definitely be back.
Friday evening in the mission, delicious food. Our favorites, brussel sprouts, arugula salad and the pork. The apple crisp was so good. The service was authentic and smooth .
It was fantastic and an awesome way to end our vacation in the USA. Food was great as was the ambience, staff and your generosity. Many thanks from two New Zealand travellers xx
Tasty food, sparkling serving, neighborhood gem. I really enjoyed the bone marrow and the Brussel sprouts.
Delicious creative cuisine and attentive service. Beautiful room and fantastic music.
Great value for the experience
Brussels sprouts were very good.
Food was overly salty for my preference. Their toast had a strong bacon flavor even though they claimed not to use bacon fat when toasting it. (Tough for vegetarian diners) Servers were pleasant and it had a nice ambiance for friends get together.
The chicken and waffle were the best I ever had. We were seated next to a couple with an unruly child and she spoiled our entire dining experience. The service was a bit slow...but I would come back.
Brunch was amazing
This restaurant is underrated and is a true gem. We ordered chicken and waffles and I had the scramble. Both were awesome!
We will definitely be back.
Best discovery of 2019
The food was delicious! Perfectly cooked octopus, poached chicken, best bone marrow I’ve tasted (most places over-salt it; at Son’s Addition it was perfectly seasoned), great chicken liver mousse. Apparently they make their own authentic kimchi and pickles - absolute delight. The bartender / waitress, Anne makes great wine-based cocktails and was flexible to accommodate “less sweet” (vermouth + champagne + tiny bit of ginger syrup is now my favorite combo!)
One of my favorite restaurants in SF. Healthy and delicious. The service was outstanding!
Food and drinks were all good but not amazing. The burger was a little too salty and the fries did not taste fresh. We ordered some small plates as well - I would recommend the beet panzanella salad - they are a good choice if you don't want to eat just one flavour. They have wine and beer, fairly limited menu, but you can definitely find something you'll like. Service was okay and overall I wasn't disappointed but I think there are better places to eat in the Mission.
Delicious brunch and outstanding service. We had been there for dinner before and also loved it, but the brunch was a real treat.
Everything was delicious! Definitely coming back!!!
We showed late for our reservsation late and had limited time to eat as we were going to a show. They were very accomodating and pleasant with an expedited service. They did everything to make sure we still hada a great time. The food was excellent. Full of unusual and different flavors very tastefully done. The atmosphere was energetic and fun but not too loud. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Second time there and the food is always great.
This place is my new favorite. Great food and friendly staff with a casual atmosphere but these tastes are more what you would expect in fine dining. The soups are divine.
Always consistently good. Always feel welcome. One of my favorite 10 restaurants in SF
The hash was pretty good. The seasonal scramble was very tasty. Great for after peak hours at the weekend. On sunday go after 1pm, avoid crowds
From beginning to end it was FAN-TAS-TIC!! Great EVERYTHING!!!
We first ordered green tea and a latte. The latte was cold and sent it back. We then ordered the BBLT (eggs benedict with bacon) and the burger. The BBLT came out cold. The bacon was dry and overcooked. Wife had the burger and liked it.
Wonderful, delicious and creative food . What a gem!
