We have been going to Sonora for probably 7 years. They have always had great cocktails (mango mojitos yum) and a creative pan-Latin menu with lots of neat small plates. Sadly Sonora has been on a downhill decline for the past couple of years. The drinks are still good (they stopped using the sugarcane stirrer which is too bad) but the menu and food has really slipped. Many of the signature small plates are gone (miss all of the great taco options) and the entrees toggle between overly complex/overly engineered or just bland/blah. They have set up a nice outdoor space for COVID dining with heaters etc. It has been a slow steady decline - we still pop in occasionally - mostly for the cocktails - but always hoping to see them righting the ship and getting back in track.
Was there on Friday and loved the live jazz duo. I have missed live music 🎶 so it was lovely to be surprised by this treat. Service was attentive and food was delicious. Only flaw was the featured appetizer which was supposed to be a octopus shrimp calamari cerviche in mango sauce. It came with no octopus. When brought to server’s attention they provided separate bowl of octopus cerviche. Food was cooked exquisitely. Little pricey but you get what you pay for. Was hard to navigate getting there - in middle of small residential community. Not near river which was what I originally searched for.
Yumola! Great food and drinks. A lot of options and fair price
The food was good, the appetizers were very good, however, the meat in the Paella was very dry. The camerones had scallops in them which wasn't mentioned on the menu (I'm not a fan of scallops). The waitress told me after I had left them on this dish that I could've asked for more shrimp. Too late! Also the menu on their website had more dinner options than what was offered to me. The service was severely lacking it took 20 minute just to get our drinks. Lastly, if you're going to eat here, stay downstairs, upstairs is not appealing.
The food was really good here. Atmosphere is adorable.
Awesome ! It was our first meal out since the start of COVID. I had been dreaming of the red sangria and of the cervechi. As usual, Sonora did not disappoint!
Fabulous night out with my fully vaccinated husband.
Can’t wait to repeat it on a weekly basis
Frequent diner. One of our go to places
A gem for sure, and so close to home we are so lucky to have this wonderful place in our backyard. They go above and beyond with there COVID protocol, and the food is always so so good. Always a beautiful evening. Many thanks to all.
Absolutely loved this place, Everything was great.
Very good quality of the food and outstanding service.
Amazing food and service.. Took my parents and they loved it too...
Great, innovative menu. Delicious food and excellent service. And the chef was a gentleman who helped me put on my coat!
Food and drinks were delicious. Great outdoor seating area. Nice staff. Excellent place for a date night.
This is one of our favorite restaurants - the food is always creatively prepared and presented. Halibut with enchiladas was terrific; calamari salad was excellent. Wines and drinks are great. The service is very friendly and helpful.
We eat at Sonora when in the area and make it a special occasion!
Feels so good to be eating at Sonora. We felt super safe the whole time, they have the plexiglass which is great! Loved sharing tapas and the empanadas were oh so good !! This place is amazing.
I came here with my boyfriend for date night. We love coming here because we can share a lot of tapas. We shared the coconut shrimp, guacamole, quinoa empanadas and squash tacos. For mains we got the salmon and the lomo. The staff was friendly and professional. I felt very safe while dining here which is a huge plus.
An amazing date night. The food, service and ambiance were amazing. We walked in to hear live jazz music and beautiful decor! The food was OUTSTANDING- we had the guac, churrasco and seafood paella & cheesecake for dessert. The service was amazing- the staff truly worked as a team- they noticed everything (i.e. when my water was low, when my bowl with shells was full, even when I dropped my napkin). Everyone was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations. We cannot wait to go back!
We felt very safe- there was plexi-glass dividing the tables and bottles of hand sanitizer on each table. Every one was wearing a mask.
Bad service. Food was not good.
Sonora is reliably delicious and had enough variety that we can eat here regularly and never get bored. In this time when so many restaurants have suffered I am so glad that Sonora has figured out a way to come back strong and continue to serve this inventive cuisine.
Great atmosphere, good food. Love the place. Very clean and intimate
Beautifully prepared food, friendly service and welcoming ambiance.
Excellent all the way around. Food was delicious. Presentation of dishes superb
As always, excellent service & delicious varied menu. Perfect ambiance & safely following Covid protocols.
Thank you to the owners and staff of Sonora for a great meal. You’ve done a great job dealing with the regulations mandating distance and all the rest of the rules you must operate under, and still are providing your wonderful food, drink, and the full Sonora experience. We look forward to coming back again soon.
Good social distancing
They take care
Went for Valentine’s Day where the menu was prix fixed which they did not notify us about beforehand. Service was extremely slow for only a moderately busy night. Ordered a steak that came out RAW and had to send it back. Waited another 30 minutes for them to bring out our dessert which was not satisfying at all. Got out of there as quickly as I can and stayed for about double the length than I would have liked to. I still want to return because tapas is what we went for, but then again I have such a bad taste in my mouth from that night that I think they lost my business instead
Great food, drinks and service....Can't wait to return!
Excellent service, we had one main waitress but people always attending to the table when we needed some thing. Excellent food at a good value.
the restaurant was very cold i saw a couple of guests asked to be moved to the bar area because the dining room was very cold
the food was not impressive at all we had dinner at 730pm and there dinner special of sea bass fillet with cauliflower mash was already not available.
so they waitress said they can do the same with salmon but we asked for the rasberry sauce on the side it came on the food, we did not send it back because we were cold and did not want to wait for another order to be made,
then we asked for gingerale and were told the machine doesnt work we can only have coke in a can . or drinks that are not fruit flavored
then when we ordered the churros they were not crispy and semi raw in the inside.
i had only gone to this restaurant once before and enjoyed it. but now i will not go back there are to many restaurants in westchester and CT to go to
My husband and I love Sonora! The food is amazing, the service is great and we have gotten to know the staff so well. We love sitting at the bar to chit chat with the bartender, it’s always a great time when we go. The only thing I have to say is certain dishes you don’t get a lot for what you pay for. If it wasn’t so expensive I’d be a regular once a week at the bar with my hubby. Besides that this is a 5 star restaurant and I highly recommend going. ❤️
Was an excellent experience but indoor dining needs to come back. Would have made it even better.
The food here is delicious and the service is awesome. I always recommend coming here when dining out
Really happy to be back at one of my favorite restaurants. They have a nice tent setup with heaters that kept us cozy. All the staff was wearing masks the entire time, it felt safe and clean. The food was delicious, ordered every type of empanada and the guacamole, superb!!!
We were never called to inform us that only outdoor dining was available. One of the people in our party was 86 years old and would never have consented to outdoor dining. Furthermore, there were only 2 heaters for the area and one ran out of propane before we arrived. It wasn't until about thee quarters of the way through the meal that someone finally brought out another tank of propane.
Food was delicious. We had the restaurant week menu with paella and it was a great value. The service was awesome too. The only thing we didn’t like was the cheesecake. Get the churros instead.
Food was very good. Service was very slow, but could be because we were seated outside.
most pleasant evening on the back patio among four tables spaciously placed, with a heater; the Restaurant Week menu was tasty, including the ceviche appetizer and the paella and short rib entrees, definitely save room for the churros for dessert and tasty cocktails and sangria, there is a small parking lot on the side of the building.
Great experience! Our servers were great.
The menu for restaurant week was excellent and diverse. We each ordered something different and each dish was great. The service, however, was terrible. there were only 4-5 tables when we arrived. In fact, we booked an earlier time so we could get in and out. Our waiter took 10 minutes after seating us to bring us a menu. It took another 10 minutes for him to take a drink order, another 10 to bring the drink, another 10 to take the food order, etc. etc. So, three people at 6:30 . . . .it took u over 2 hours to get out of the restaurant on a Tuesday . . . . I come from a restaurant family, in the business for 40 years. I almost never stiff the waiter, but we left no tip. We gave it all on the side the to the bus person who ran back and forth to help us. The food was phenomenal, but we wouldn't go back.
I had never been to Sonora before but was very happy I went. All the food was delicious. We started with the guacamole which was made fresh and was very good. We then shared a beet salad which was also fresh and very good. I had the vegetable paella which had wonderful flavor -it was really good.
The apple cider sangria was amazing. We also had the cinnamon leche cheesecake. Everything from start to finish was really great.
