The place was extremely crowded and noisy I didn’t like the fact that although we had a reservation for the main dining area they sat us in the bar area were tables were more like for first come first serve basis Tables were not dressed with tablecloth and noise was extreme They had a violin and guitar playing right at the entrance making people to stand next to we were seated while they wait to be seated
We asked our server multiple times for the wine list and never arrived We had to ask a different server for a pitch of sangria so that we had something to drink with our dinner
It was difficult to enjoy the food when you had so much going on around you and people watching what you were eating and making comments
What I find it surprising is why the owner seeing that the place was fully booked decided not to open the second floor dinning but pushed people to seat outside around 8 pm when the weather was in the mid 40’s
Hopefully and next time he can make better choices, so that customers can leave pleased.
Had a wonderful birthday celebration at Sonora! Originally started off in the bar (great Happy Hour) and liked our bartender, Mauricio, so much we stayed and added items off the main menu. Mauricio was personable and extremely helpful when ordering. Food was delicious as was the wine! Definitely coming back!
Loved it! Can't wait to go back. Food was excellent, service was perfect. Very friendly and comfortable. Good for a date night or group of friends.
Always a pleasure, and always new items on the menu. Still innovative after decades.
Food was delicious. Waiter was knowledgeable about menu. Loved it!
Sonora is always a pleasure; for the ambiance, friendly competent service and their selection of delicious morsels with exceptionally good and varied dishes.
Great dinner so many healthy options. Drinks were fun and different.
Fantastic meal. One of the best I've had in a very long time. There is nothing that's not exceptional from the service to the food. The presentation is beautiful, the portions more than adequate and quality is excellent. A must restaurant.
Great time for my business meeting. Hosted global employees and everyone was impressed. Delicious food and drinks.
Tasty food, Ceviche, guacomole dips, croquettes all good. Highly recommend if you like Tapas...
Great Food and ingredients, friendly staff, chef/owner greets all customers
Delightful dinner with Latin flavors. Nice ambiance and Good Pisco Sours! Everything we sampled was delicious. Appetizers included Guacamole, Shrimp Ceviche, Grilled Octopus, Grilled Skirt Steak w/sauce & greens on flatbread. Main course was flavorful & perfectly cooked: Branzino, Seafood Paella, and Beef Short Ribs. Dessert was equally yummy: Churros with both Chocolate & Raspberry Sauces, Wonderful Chocolate Mousse type dessert. I look forward to our next visit to try different items on the menu.
We made a reservation for 8:00pm and arrived on time. Several others who had also made reservations were also waiting. We waited for 30 minutes for a table and while the hostess' apologized, the wait seemed excessive given that we had made a reservation. Service was not great- wrong wine brought, a long wait for one of our tapas dishes. While the wait and service were disappointing, the food was good. Sadly, the overall experience colored our impression of the restaurant.
We have been to Sonora many times over the years and this was the first time it was disappointing. Menu had changed and the dishes were uneven. Some were very good and others not.
Always great. Even better with new menu that is so vegetarian friendly for my husband and me. Loved the eggplant meatballs and Tacos de Setas. Always the best cocktails and best service. Thanks!
Went for my 46th bday with parents and GF and we were all really impressed with the whole experience. I am vegetarian and they and awesome side menu for these options , but also a host of creative but not too creative dishes.... great drinks, and there was a even tango demonstration while we were eating and it was lovely and non-intrusive. Check special events and I would totally book a group here who is willing to go a bit off the beat and path for most Westchester restaurants. There is outdoor seating with heat lamps and separate bar area with cute seating as well.
Def we will all go back and pass on the local super trendy young places !!!
Wonderful dining, service outstanding. We were disappointed in our table, we felt the table was in the way for everyone entering the dining room. We made this reservation early in the week not at all last minute to be seated in such a bad table.
Family dinner out. Food was good. Service was a little disorganized but all servers were gracious and helpful. Valet parking available. We will return.
Could not have been a better experience. Food and service was excellent !
I hadn't been to Sonoro in several years and when a friend suggested it I wasn't at all hesitant. It was as good as I remembered, if not better. We both will be back very soon!
Haven’t been for years and was blown away with everything way above average
Coming back soon
Excellent food and service
Out for a friends birthday. Had a great time as usual. Great food ,drinks and staff. Never a disappointment when I dine here. Going back again for an anniversary brunch. Cant wait.
Excellent meal. The guacamole was tremendous and the entrees cooked perfectly. The bar drinks weren't as strong as we liked, but they were good. Overall, a worthwhile evening was had by all.
We found this place by accident, and fell in love with it. We go out of our way to done here! Great food!
My go-to spot for tapas! This place has the best guacamole and tapas. We ordered coconut shrimp, empanadas and tacos. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The whole vibe of the restaurant is really great. I definitely recommend the mojitos!
We tried the restaurant because we were headed to a concert at the Capitol thtr.
Very creative takes on appetizers,particularly.
VERY well made, potent cocktails. Very fairly priced happy hour drinks and snacks
Enjoyed a pleasant evening .Food and drinks outstanding. Friendly staff, clean, very accomodating. Going back again for co workers birthday.Delish!
Amazing dining, cocktails and service
Great place, different kinds of Latino food, high end ingredients and presentation, attentive staff, cool interior design, good drinks
Delicious and CREATIVE pan-Latino/ Nuevo Latino food. You will not be disappointed.
We were there early before the crowds came; it was difficult to follow a conversation as the noise level was quite high, even before the crowds arrived later on. The food was quite good but a bit pricey.
Four of us enjoyed dinner before a concert on a Wednesday night. We ordered margaritas from the happy hour menu and a number of small plates including ceviche, octopus, short rib tacos, lobster tacos and guacamole. All of it was delicious and very fresh. Would highly recommend this place for couples and small groups.
Delicious food, nice vibe, friendly service. We will return!
Delicious good, great atmosphere and lovely staff.
I have been coming to Sonora for a few years now and I am never disappointed. Chef Palomino changes up his menu regularly while still keeping classics. A few vegan options have been added that are delicious.
My date and I split the vegan quesadillas, coconut shrimp, guacamole, lobster quesadillas and the kale salad.
Everythig was 10/10
Two of us had margaritas, and shared an $18 lobster quesadilla "small plate", $32 seafood paella, and coffee/cafe con leche.
I would go back for the many other Argentinian, Peruvian, Mexican and other latin dishes that also looked delicious.
The grilled bread and a warm seasoned tomato salsa (described oddly as chimichurri), and lobster quesadillas were excellent. The gorgeous looking paella included Chorizo, clams, mussels, jumbo shrimp and half a lobster. The rice in the Paella could have been less soupy (I prefer the crusty bits on the bottom of the cast iron pan) and the rice, chorizo & shellfish could have been more seasoned, even by Spanish standards.
The service - host, server, owner or manager, was exceptionally gracious and attentive. The server advised us, correctly, that the Paella was big enough for two.
The atmosphere is upscale though it's in what seems to be a working class residential neighborhood. There's parking onsite and on the street.
My wife and I loved the overall brunch experience and hope to return for dinner. We would like to commend the chef for a great meal and loved the jazz musicians. Music was great and not loud. Looking forward to our next meal there. The decor made it Avery comfortable experience. Hope to return soon.
We have been to Sonora many times in the past and enjoyed great evenings. This time, the server was very agressive to get orders in but awful around timing. We had to ask repeatedly for the drinks and food to be brought to us. He was very rushed and totally absent most of the time. It was unpleasant to try to flag him down constantly. The food when it came was fine. Some items were quite good and others subpar. Overall, it was a big let down and not a super fun evening with family as planned. I am not sure why things are so off this past Saturday. I brought visiting family and am very disappointed by the experience.
Will definitely come back.. goat cheese croquets were AWESOME
Food was good, service could have been better
