Wow oh wow. Service perfect...friendly and efficient. Food to die for...coconut shrimp app was awesome. I had shrimp and scallops in a potato nest with sauce which was so delicious. Others at our table had equally delicious steak, etc...you cannot go wrong. Dessert was shared...blueberry cobbler which tasted like something your grandmother would make. Highly recommend!!
Great food...very creative. That said, I was expecting the seafood to have the burnt, crisp rice (soccarat), but it didn't. Still tasty but not what I expected. Others in our party found the food delicious, but the service, while pleasant, was a bit lacking. Must have asked three times for another pitcher of sangria, but it never came. It was a very busy Saturday night...so somewhat understandable. Will definitely try again.
Good but not as good as it was. The noise levels are crazy.
The food was delicious and visually appealing as well. Warm, friendly environment, and they never rush you through your meal. Lovely evening!
We are long time visitors to Sonora. We were a bit surprised at the latest menu, finding the choices greatly reduced and many of our favorite dishes no longer offered.
Disappointing! Do not like the new menu, it’s more limited. They took away the small plates I enjoyed.
My drink(Margarita) was served in a small glass, filled with ice and lime slices. Charging $12 for this was criminal!
The noise tonight was ear shattering. To make matters worse there was a saxophone & bass fiddle adding to the cacophony of sounds.
Used to enjoy this place very much.
Hope when I return (in the distance future), Raphael & Omar have returned it to its former glory.
Two top ordering a variety of tapas. All were delicious and they went out of their way to make us an off menu item that had been on the menu during a previous visit. Highly recommend.
Everything was great except for our server. Grumpy from the start and unprofessional. I will definitely return as the food was so good and hope that we will get someone else.
Great menu, service and ambiance. Paella is something not be to missed.
We are regulars and have never been disappointed. As usual everything was very good again.
This was our second visit to Sonora. The food and service are very good. We had a great time and love the Red Sangria. Only negative is prices have gone up and it is a bit pricey for the area they are in.
I enjoyed the beet salad and the skirt steak tacos. Guacamole is made table side and is outstanding! Margaritas are excellent!
I had been wanting to try Sonora for quite some time as per the good reviews. The opportunity cane when we scouted a local restaurant open for Christmas Day dinner. I had told my son we could have Pisco sours, the national drink of Peru. They said they were out of pisco. So, I asked for caipirinhas, the national drink of Brazil. None available! So, this is a restaurant serving food/drink from those countries and Latin American countries and they “ran out” of both ?
Very disappointing. Me son order Mezcal. None of that either. On to the food... best appetizer out of three was the coconut shrimp. Meat tacos were mostly portobello mushrooms which lacked seasoning and we didn’t even want to finish. We ordered the salmon which was the best part of the meal. Passed on desserts. Service was very good but otherwise unsatisfying.
Had a beautiful Christmas dinner here. Ordered from the holiday prix fixe. Everything was totally delicious, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. The staff, from the hostess through all servers and attendants, were warm, attentive, welcoming. In some restaurants, holiday menus and service can be disappointing, but not at Sonora. We were brought water, bread with a spread, and had drink orders taken within a minute or two of being seated. We then enjoyed a leisurely meal, savoring each dish and our relaxing time together. A delightful experience.
Dined as a party of 4, second time to the restaurant. We unfortunately were underwhelmed by the food both times. Overall the food on the menu is pretty heavy and options for anything light and fresh were obsolete. The special ceviche for the night was mixed with coconut cream/milk - I thought I'd give it a try but it was a big miss. It was gloopy and didn't look remotely appetizing. It was also pre-mixed and therefore you could not remove the onions. A true ceviche is made to order, fresh, and light. Not pre-mixed and sitting for hours. The crispy calamari salad had what tasted like a generic sweet and sour sauce. Guacamole for $18 was disappointing - it was bland and a miserable portion given the price. Paella rice had no crunch to it and was also bland. Cocktails here were all just mediocre. Service was okay but felt rushed, no one seemed to know what kind of spirits were available and they had no list for me to look at (despite the decor of hundreds of bottles all over the restaurant).
We generally love this place. The food is fantastic! Our main server was fantastic, but he had a helper that wasn’t great. She would reach in front of us to sweep the crumbs, didn’t smile ever and didn’t bring beverages when requested.
However, it was Christmas Eve and they were very busy,so we will chalk it up to that.
Overall, it is a wonderful place to go.
Sonora is ALWAYS excellent! The food is fantastic and the service is superb! We highly recommend this restaurant!
Always excellent dining experience
Service ambience food are always the finest in the town
We were pleasantly surprised when we returned to Sonora after taking a hiatus for a year. (Their menu had changed and what I liked was no longer on there.). Not sure if there is a new chef, but the menu had changed for the better, and the branzino with the risotto was back on the menu. From start to finish the meal was a success. We had the coconut shrimp appetizer with 4 big well coated hot shrimp. Followed by their beet, goat cheese salad. I had the branzino and my husband had the salmon. Both excellent with good sides. The service, as usual, was good with friendly attentive wait staff. Will put it back on our list of Westchester restaurants.
I was initially very disappointed by the menu changes. In spite of the absence of tapas, the two friends I brought loved the food and ordered fish. As a vegetarian I had fewer options, but my choice was acceptable. Tasty but too limited in options.
We had to stand for more than 5 minutes before being seated because the staff were having a meeting. That meeting should have taken place earlier because we had reservations and were on time.
I checked my down jacket. When I handed the hostess the ticket and tip, she handed me some other woman’s mink jacket. Major screw up.
Excellent and delicious variety of creative Latin-American cuisine. Order a bunch of the tapas plates for the full experience.
Great service. Great food. Great flavor paella wonderful. STeak was a bit tough but very flavorful
Excellent service and great food in the best Restaurant in Port Chester and surrounding areas. I love when a restaurant is so consistently good whether you are sharing some appetizers with friends or having a special occasion dinner. Will be back frequently 👍
Photo of my Cuban Churrasco with the quail egg over brown rice. Loved it 👏
Great brunch with awesome live jazz. My friend and I split the french toast which was delicious!! I enjoyed the avocado toast and my friend had the three meat skillet. We will definitely be back.
terrific food. our server Angelica was very knowledgeable and nice
Yummy ceviche and specials
I love Sonora! This place is always a winner. They have really great vegetarian options without compromising flavor. The service is friendly and never pushy which is refreshing. Oh and don' t even get me started on the mojitos- I cant never get enough of them!!!
As always delicious. Sonora never disappoints
Once again we had a great dinner at Sonora. The scallops and shrimp entre with ravioli was sooo delicious. The sauce made it special. Great service and friendly advice on selections.
Excellent food. Good service. We go there frequently.
Great meal can’t wait to return
Good food and great service
Went to Sonora before a show at the Capitol Theater. Had a lovely dinner. We tasted a number of their small plates, one of the larger dishes, and had dessert. We also had enjoyed some cocktails from the bar. The food items were all nicely prepared and attractively composed, and the staff was kind and attentive. The drinks, too, were mixed with care to accommodate our preference for a less sweet taste. We were there early so it felt like we had a number of team members looking after us, which made the service really excellent. Would definitely consider going back to Sonora the next time we're in Port Chester.
We had not being here for several years. One time we had a bad experience and decided not to come back.
For restaurant week this Fall, we decided to give it another chance and we really loved it. We brought friends and family and have been here 3 times in less than 6 weeks. The food is Latin fusion so dishes are not necessarily from the counties they're named after, but that doesn't matter because everything we've had was very good. I think chef Palomino is very good and imaginative.
Tapas: guacamole was great but a bit pricey; ceviche, quesadilla de langosta, coconut shrimp etc. Main dishes: Paella (I think it's more Latin Paella than Spanish but it was great, it reminded me of the one my mother made in Colombia), Branzino, Lomo Saltado, Short ribs, churrasco (a little dry)- all very good. The service is excellent. We will be back soon.
Food is excellent! Had the Branzino...really good. The guacamole is so tasty and fresh. The only downside are the acoustics. I bit noisy for my tastes. But excellent food and service.
We loved this place! Very friendly service, delicious, authentic, unpretentious. Can't wait to return..
As usual, everything was great again. We are regulars and we have never been disappointed.
We took a family group of 8 recently for a pre-Theatre dinner. The atmosphere is lovely, Antonio and his serving team were wonderfully attentive, and the food was hot and delicious. Will definitely return when in the area!
The Salmon was over cooked and salty, it was overpriced for such a small portion . The Paella was very salty and the Lomo dish beside from the meat everything else tasted very bland. The place uses good quality ingredients but it needs a good chef.
