Sonoma Wine Garden - Santa Monica Ratings and Reviews
We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated just as quickly. The service was excellent but the food is ok , not worth the price. I would go again for the ambiance not necessarily for the food. However, it was brunch and I have not tried everything on the menu so this is loosely based off of the eggs Benedict, and the chicken and waffles my boyfriend had. Other than that cool spot!!
Sitting outside with overhead heaters was comfortable. We shared an apple and mesclun salad which was delicious. Started with dates from the appetizers list. We always get those. Then split the Bolognese. A greeat meal. Waiter attentive without being intrusive. Will be back.
Arrived as a family for a late evening dinner. Ambience was good and the welcome was warm. Experience was let down by a waiter who clearly was having a bad night, or perhaps a chip on his shoulder for Australians.
Food was okay but my truffle pizza lacked much in the way of truffle flavour. Others enjoyed their food.
I would visit again, but hope for a different waiter.
We were incensed when he also built in an 18% tip without asking. He clearly felt he wasn't going to get one otherwise.
Ambiance and live music was a plus but the food was mediocre. We had the truffle and mushroom pizza which was fantastic but also had the gnocchi and sent it badk as it was missing ingredients that were listed on the menu and even when it was brought back still wasn't great. Mentioned it to the server and he was very nice about it but just felt more could have been done. Would go back for ambiance but not so much the food.
We love Sonoma wine garden, we live in San Diego and every time we come to LA we go to Sonoma wine garden in Santa Monica . Food is great and atmosphere is wonderful . We have had some friend's come with us and they love it , we will recommend this restaurant to any one.
They had speial wine selections, but were out of half of them. We both had to send our drinks back, I had a very dry martini, that I wasn't dry at all (i could taste the vermouth), and my friend had a cosmopolitan that was all wrong. At that point, they ran out if the gin I liked, so I had to go with another one. The food was okay. The bacon covered dates were dry, the meatballs average and the Tuna Traktir just average.
Our waiter made a mistake on my boyfriend’s order and we ended up getting a dish brought to us that we didn’t order (side of spinach) and it was very tasty! What my boyfriend ordered was the swordfish, turns out, it is not one of their better dishes so I’m glad we didn’t get it. Instead, he and I shared the SWG cheeseburger and it was sooooo gooood! We also had truffle fries which were amazing as well😄
We entertained friends from the East Coast and this was a great choice. We were there for brunch last Sunday. The atmosphere was very LA and the food delicious. Don't let the address fool you, you have to take an elevator but then the view and outdoors terrace is fantastic.
Bad service. Very slow and not much attention from the staff. Waited for almost an hour to get drinks for everyone in the party. Food was okay, but for what the charge you there, you can get a better food and definitely better service somewhere else. The only plus was sitting on the patio.
I've never had more awful service or hospitality. Our food took an hour to come out, and came out cold. One of the people in our group still had to wait another 15 minutes for their food. After speaking to two separate managers five times, we still weren't appropriately taken care of. Will never go back.
This was one of the best brunches I've ever had! Our waiter, Rain (or Reign), was beyond friendly and attentive. He kept the bottomless mimosas flowing, unlike other restaurants I've been to for bottomless. The entire energy of the restaurants and patrons was so uplifting. It was probably the best birthday brunch I've ever had! I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for every (adult) occasion! :)
The service was impeccable, but we were seated in a booth that had too much sun hitting the table. The servers did attempt to move us and placed an awning over us, but the awning was very short so the sun was a nuisance again.
I have been to Sonoma Wine Garden many times for get-togethers with friends and for business meals. It has the perfect atmosphere for these occasions, but can get very loud at times with music and people chatter on the weekends.
The ease of parking and the rooftop experience with a view is always nice in SoCal. As for the food, it is decent, but nothing to cry home about.
This was my second time eating at Sonoma Wine Garden and its even better than I remember it. The live music with a violinist made the evening even more elegant. Bacon wrap dates, to mussell, oysters, ricotta pizza, to pastas and strawberry cheesecake was wonderful crafted and flavored. The evening sky under the stars and an a view of the ocean is the perfect dinning experience in Santa Monica.
Was sat sandwiched in between two large parties, with literally 1 foot separating us from a large, noisy party. Can't believe they'd actually consider sitting someone there. Our table was constantly bumped into because of how tight it was.
Food was ok, small portions. Overpriced.
Waitress was friendly.
Host staff was unwelcoming. Only gave us one menu. Never said a word.
Will never return and will recommend our friends so the same.
Food and environment are really good. Servers are friendly and attentive, but unpolished in proper delivery of the food - appetizers served to one person but the other has to wait, then one entree comes without the other, etc. That's my only complaint. If you can overlook that, the food and decor are quite nice.
A great selection of wines. Girls night out dinner and a movie.
The appetizer of seared tuna with cucumbers and a Moroccan sauce was light and tasty. We shared a kale salad and the salmon over a bed of couscous. Both were delicious and fresh for a light fare summer meal outdoors on their patio.
I paid $24 for a bunch of cooked pasta smeared in red sauce they call it "bolognese" no beef whatsoever.
All the manager could do is to waive the charge for the sangria which I was very happy with.
Big rip off for the quality of food and quantity.
Moreover they charge a Santa Monica health tax which we didn't pay. Supposedly they run a very socialist business and think I should pay their servers for their health insurance. Not stepping in this restaurant anymore. There are too many other choices thankfully
