Awesome happy hour deals and good wine selection. The food is good but not anything special. The wine is the real attraction and especially affordable during their daily happy hours!
It feels like you are having a small dinner at friend’s house. I love this place.
There was a party in the same room so it did get quite loud and hard to talk but it leveled out a but so it was better then. I enjoyed my visit and will be returning and making another reservation. Thank you so much for the great service.
Great place to make memories!
Cozy and delicious wines and food.
Location is very convenient.
I will keeping going to celebrate life with others.
Nice place house wine is perfect pizza delicious service excellent
We’ve been to Sonoma Wine Bar a number of times on visits to Houston. Great wine list and good food. It is always a favorite.
Nice place to relax and enjoy a bottle of wine and refreshing appetizers.
Wine was great, food was delicious. Enjoyed a great lunch and would definitely recommend Sonoma to others.
Wonderful little place. Tables were a little small for our taste. Well informed server. Was able to give good information about our wine choices. The deviled eggs!! A must try. Hopefully more Malbec choices will be available on our return trip.
We returned to Sonoma for the third time because of its proximity to The Music Box Theater. As we've experienced each time, the food was great and the service was half-assed. One member of our party didn't get his food when everyone else did, and the server (who didn't bother to write anything down) didn't even apologize when he pointed out that his food hadn't come. One member of our party ordered the spinach-artichoke dip, which was delicious, but comes with four small slices of bread. As soon as the order came, he asked the server, "Can we get some more bread?" She said yes, but never brought any more bread. (The same thing happened on a previous visit when one member of our party ordered a cheese board that came with about eight crackers and four tiny slices of bread. He asked for more bread or crackers, which never came.)
For the second time, the $20 bottle of Garnacha on the happy hour menu wasn't available. When it happened on a previous visit, they offered a slightly better bottle of wine at the happy hour price. This time, the server took this as an opportunity to upsell us a more expensive bottle of wine. (Hint: If you're not going to stock the wine that's listed on your happy hour menu, maybe it's time to reprint the menu.)
I went here for date night with my husband and I'm so glad we did. Food and wine we're all great. Service was impeccable!
Decent food, but overpriced, and both of our visits, the service has been spotty. The farmhouse cheese board was $35 and included four small pieces of cheese, about a teaspoon of each of four or five garnishes, three or four small slices of bread, and about eight crackers. The proportions were all wrong, so we ran out of bread, crackers, and the best of the garnishes (an onion marmalade kind of thing) long before anything else. We asked for more bread or crackers, but they never showed up.
The ambiance is strange—the waitstaff serve attitude as if they're in a fine-dining establishment, not a strip-center happy hour wine bar. Our table along the back wall was so dark that we had to use our phones to read the menu, and the place was so noisy that it was difficult to hear what people on the other side of the table were saying.
I would have given this a higher rating on the Ambiance, however, the noise level was so high the four of us could barely hear ourselves speak. Otherwise, the food and service was outstanding and I would definitely go again!
Cute place! The server was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful with pairings!
The crab cake was the best I have ever had! We will go back.
While our server was really nice I did feel we waited a while (more than 20 mins) after being seated for service. For a quiet weekday night when there were not a lot of patrons it seemmed like a long wait.
The restaurant/bar is very quaint and quiet with a very comfortable ambiance. The service was terrific and the food was glorious!
We have been dining and enjoying wine at this location since it opened. This now is the second time in a row where we visited this location and were very disappointed. There were 5 of us, the pizzas were ordered at the same time and came out 15 minutes apart. The first pizza was way over cooked and the other lacked any flavor at all. The wine pours were supposedly 7 oz. but they only filled just under a third of each glass. We ordered baked Bree and it was served Luke warm.
We will try the Studewood location but will most likely not visit the Kirby location again. Our previous visit resulted in this location being out of 2-3 types of beers and all pizza dough.
We are very disappointed as Sonoma used to be a great place to go, with so many other choices now available giving it several chances seems to be enough. I hope the management utilizes this feedback to improve and regain the reputation once owned.
Sonoma is a relief from unwanted loud music and tables cheek by jowl. The menu selections are great and the wines by the glass are a good value.
Excellent wines by the glass and terrific personal size pizza options, pleasant seating outside in front although obviously Richmond is not a quiet street. Our server was quite knowledgeable about the wines. Bonus: We walked there from our new apartment home at Avenue Grove.
Great place for a relaxing glass of wine and food. Food is great but really geared to relaxed eating with shared plates. Lots of small bites and cheese trays. Pizzas are very good.
Great food and great service.
Our food was fabulous. The wine was good. Our waitress was polite and very helpful. The only negative experience was with the manager. She was the one to seat us and seemed a bit snippy and unwelcoming. Our waitress would have made a better manager. This is the first negative experience that I have had with Sonoma. Great place to meet for wine and light meal.
Sonoma is our favorite wine bar! We wish there was one in Katy. We go as often as we can for date night when we are in town.
We absolute loved it! Had the steak and duck beast, both were wonderful! Save room for the Soufle
Friendly staff. Moderate prices. Parking can be a challenge if you get there later in the evening.
The tasting manager was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the selection. He was also very patient with those who weren’t to familiar with what they preferred.
Great wine bar with snacks to keep your night going
We made a reservation, but they tried to sit us by the door. It was a cold, rainy night and they had the door open. We left.
Our table of 6 had enjoyable night in the back room. Even with other big tables it was quiet enough to talk. (I had asked them to turn down the music and they happily complied). Food was good. We ordered all kinds of appetizers for sharing. Wine, of course, was all good. I would have liked more choices for rose but other than that everyone was happy. Service by staff was very friendly. Will eat there again
We enjoyed our dinner at Sonoma. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The wait staff was attentive without being overbearing. The waiter suggested some options for our wine choices. This is a nice restaurant for a quiet, romantic dinner or just to try some new wines. We have recommended Sonoma to several friends.
Wonderful team of staff who provide exceptional service. We dined outdoors and enjoyed the night air, great wine & delicious food!!
Everything was superb. In addition to the wine, make sure you try the pizza and sliders. It was the best I've ever had!
Great food, reasonable price, nice atmosphere and friendly service. I’d go back and recommend to others.
We had a wonderful time. Great service and excellent food.
Wine recommendation was spot on. As this was a Monday night the crowd was light. Although there were two servers in duty we had trouble getting their attention after the snack was served. They were too busy talking to each other. Sonoma is still a great place and I will come back. Just hope management works on the customer service.
When I got there they said they did not accept these Open Table reservations. Also, they were really busy which was fine since they were having a rose special, but they were severely understaffed and the food was disgusting. Also, to note, they do not offer gluten free pizza options. Given the area, Upper Kirby, it would be beneficial to them if they offered dietary friendly options.
Loves this place! We came here for my wife's birthday. Perfect place for wine flights and cheese! Plus the guy that was playing music was awesome!
It's an OK place to get some wine, but we waited over 20 minutes after getting a table to get service. They don't have a good wine by the glass selection. it's a big selection, but mostly bottles. There are much better places to go in the area.
Such a cute place and reasonably priced! Awesome service with outstanding food.
