Sonoma Wine Bar & Restaurant - Heights
Love everything about Sonoma. We host many team meetings here. The food and service is top notch
Always a great spot
Gotta say that this is, by far, my most favorite restaurant in Houston. The waitstaff is fun, knowledgeable, attentive and helpful. The food is outstanding. We love the cheese, pickles and jam (and have gone to their distributor for those items for home). The wine is really, really good. The flights are reasonably priced.
We live more than 35 miles from The Heights location, but go in regularly for our date-night. And, we always hope to get Jose as our waiter. He's brilliant.
I really like Sonoma in the Heights. This was my second time there and first time sitting outside. Service was a little slower sitting outside, but overall I really enjoyed it.
great patio on the 2nd floor. WE moved Dave our server, very personable and we never had to ask twice for food or wine.
Asked waiter simple question, and was given snarky remarks instead of simply answering questions or offering useful input. Made it seem as if he were too busy for even a basic interaction with us. I understand Saturday nights are busy, but as a member of the service industry myself, it seemed a bit unnecessary to make even a quick and simple question about the menu seem trivial and bothersome. We will not be visiting here again. Other Sonoma locations have far, far better customer service even at maximum capacity, as well as an eagerness to enlighten clientele with information on menu and wines.
Nice ambiance, good food, roof top bar, great location, wonderful wine selection. They graciously seated us in a little alcove with one 4-top table, which reduced the noise was & very beneficial to a person in our party who is very hard of hearing. We'll be back.
After an hour (literally) the host asked us to hurry along as someone was waiting for a table. Yes, we’d reserved ours.
This was a last minute pick for a birthday dinner. The service was awesome, and what we ate was extremely good. The only negative is that they ran out of pizza, which was what we had been looking forward to. Another time, perhaps.
Second time here, we will continue to eat here. Portions are outstanding for the price. They have a great wine list, offer to go discounts on bottles and offer wine flights. Our server Daniel was fantastic!
Menu was different than what was advertised. Food took an hour to get out. They ran out of steaks and nothing was offered to make up for all the mistakes that were made. This was our first Valentine’s Day dinner.
Food and drinks were great. Food took too long to get.
Lovely wine spot. I came for my birthday with a few friends to taste some wines during the happy hour. We all ordered snacks and a couple extra bottles. Everyone had a great time and no one had to wait for seating.
I was a little disappointed with the girl at the bar because she would not allow my wife to order the flight at the happy hour rate, she came in right at 6 PM and she ordered it 5 minutes past 6 becuase she was greeting a friend at the bar, sometimes might be wiser to bend the rule and please a customer and that customer might come bach another day because of the service however, the lady manager was very nice to give us a complementary happy hour flight, we really liked the gesture from the manager and made us feel great so we will certainly be back at Sonoma.
I had an amazing time. Our server Stephon was great and very knowledgeable about the wines. He made our first experience a great one! The ambiance was amazing, the food was delicious and our entire experience was wonderful! My wife and I are pleased and will definitely come back again.
Sonoma is always my go to for delicious wine selections and a solid cheese and charcuterie board. Can’t be beat. Love this ambience for a girls catch up night or a date!
I would like to give 5 stars for the overall experience. Unfortunately, the hostess/waitress initially seemed uninterested when we arrived. She did eventually perk up when we said we were buying a bottle of champagne and asked for recommendations. Her recommendation was spot on!
My go to place for informal business meals. Wine and food are great, as well as the service!
Nice menu options and the wines were all good as well. The portions are huge for the price. The cheese was served cold...which was confusing. Cheese should be at room temperature. The crab cake was the best dish that we ordered, I would go back just for that. We ordered the crab cake, pumpkin lobster soup, meatballs and short ribs. Too many potatoes with the short rib, it was not necessary at all.
Very nice wine selection with interesting tastings to choose from. Service is usually good but can be very slow at times even when the restaurant is not crowded.
Excellent upstairs patio. Felt like a cozy restaurant with excellent food! Superb meat and cheese board.
Bar server was a bit grim.. she needs to be more friendly
Best pizza by far!! Only thing I would like is the service to b little better. Went in on a Sunday evening around 640
, waiter set us down and just left for about 10 min before anyone came by. We decided to leave to the bar when we finally got to place our order. Other then the service or lack of service this place is not a bad spot
Cannot wait to go back! From the fun wine & charcuterie selections, to the tantalizing dinner menu options, to their outstanding knowledgeable and accommodating service, this place checks all the boxes. I havnt even even mentioned how cute the bar area / fireplace seating area is, and general ambience. So fun and charming, and next time if it’s not 40 degrees out, I definitely want to check out the rooftop! Another huge plus in my book. One note about James, he was super friendly and thoughtful. When I ordered dessert around 10:30/10:45pm, he let me know that he thought that were out of it earlier but he’d check if the kitchen could whip me up a fresh batch ... we’re talking the Apple / pear crisp that’s probably usually made in huge sheet pans bc it takes a while to bake ... but he made an effort to offer and check on this for me, and huge kuddos to the kitchen and management if this is their standard policy, because sure enough they were out but they made me an individual cast iron sized serving for me!!! At 11pm!! Fresh to order!!! Who does that?? Super impressed and appreciative for this above and beyond effort by all parties. This was just the icing, he truly was so pleasant and helpful with recommending wines and flights and food items, and helped make our first time at Sonoma (and our anniversary!) so wonderful. I will be back!!! Great for girls night wine & cheese, date night, or even with a few friends!
Wasn’t a particularly busy time, but the kitchen seemed to struggle with timeliness, even to prepare non-cooked items. Otherwise, it was a good experience.
The restaurant was quiet for a Saturday afternoon, but we enjoyed being 2 of the 6 customers. Service was genuine and kind, however, they were out of the food items we'd ordered, so we had to select something different. The food was good and at a reasonable price.
Jose, our Server was awesome. Beet salad and pizza were were fantastic. A very nice woman stopped by to see how everything tasted. My online reservation worked and my table wa ready when I arrived 25 minutes early. Prices on the food and wine were very reasonable. Have to say, service was superb!!!! Everything from initial greeting, to explanation of specials, wine recommendations, pre-bussing, Mis en Plas (not sure of the spelling) was spot on. Even the task of keeping my water glass full was performed well. My only criticism, the table was a bit small, we were sitting at one of the small round tables. Otherwise, great marks all the way around.
This was a wonderfully quiet, romantic restaurant with a very creative menu and amazing wine list. A great place to take someone special in your life for an evening with a cozy setting, great food and an atmosphere made for couples who want to enjoy each other's company with fine food and drink. Highly recommended.
Food was wonderful service was perfection!
I expected a few more Sonoma Valley wines on the list based on the name but otherwise 0 complaints!
I must say, we were told about Sonoma by a friend and I am so glad!!! We aren’t big drinkers but when we went , we tasted the food and were hooked! From the manager Steven to the bar tender to our waiter, everything was exceptional!! Kudos to he chef, best steak and sauce we have ever tasted!! This is our second time going! Our first was with friends and we had to go back for our anniversary! Every aspect of Sonoma is amazing!
Amazing service and perfect for date night!
It was great, but it took a while to get our food (35 minutes)
Food was great and the wine flights were fun. Good value and excellent service. I like this place and recommend it for a casual night out to eat small plates and do wine flights.
Absolutely great as always. Our waiter was James and he is very knowledgable about all of their wines. He took great care of us, I would highly recommend him and Sonoma to anyone!
Holly was an excellent waitress. She was very helpful yet giving the space for the group to enjoy themselves. Steak night is also a GREAT value! I will need to go back to try it out!
This place is great, the service, food and wine are outstanding.... highly recommend it!!!
Just seat at the bar and enjoy a good glass of wine and some good plates. I love the baked brie.
Very great spot For a date night we really
Enjoyed the champagne tasting flight
Saturday night dinner with wife and friends. Small Plate items are quite generous and suitable as a main course.
Had excellent service from Wallace. He served us a large, tasty crab cake to share for an appetizer followed by juicy steak night steaks. Great value for delicious food and excellent service!
