   Friendly service haven’t been to sondes for a long time went on steak night excellent value for money will definitely try other nights and will be back on the steak night excellent value

   Went for the steak deal, food was good. One of two steaks was undercooked however was not too bothered, tenderstem broccoli was very salty and not nice unfortunately. Service was so slow, 2 hours for two courses. Had to get waitresses attention every time to order new course etc. One portion of chips was not delivered to us before letting waitress know around 30 minutes later.

   We booked a two course Sunday lunch for three at 12.45 and between us had the mushrooms, the tempura prawns, the carvery and the rib eye steak. The food was faultless; high quality produce, fresh, tasty, tender with good textures, hot and well presented. Our waitress was exceptionally helpful and attentive. There was no delay and the timing (between carvery and a la carte) was perfect. The place is beautiful. Our table was spacious, it felt upmarket, warm and cosy. We had a leisurely meal and were not rushed. I was pleasantly surprised to leave with a bill including drinks for under £90. Experiences this good in a picture postcard setting don't happen often, or by accident. In London this would have cost £90 per head. Impressed and I will definitely return.

   Overall a good carvery, we were almost the last sitting which did show in our choices of veg and sauces

   Carvery was up to usual high standard but Swede was well cooked but was warm not piping hot like rest of the vegetables. Probably not the most popular vegetable so not replaced as didn't get consumed.

   Food fantastic, service really bad . 45 kins to get a drink I had finished my meal. Then half an hour for someone to take our dessert order. Not good. Thank God the carvery was so good this is what saved the meal.

    We went for Easter Sunday and had the Carvery which was delicious. Fabulous service. Would definitely recommend.
