We had the corn & cod fritters which were very good! Excellent duck and ricotta dumpling entrees! Would definitely recommend and go back again.
The ambiance when we arrived included disturbingly loud thumping music. We were concerned that we would not be able to stay, but after asking the manager to lower the volume, he was able to turn down the speaker near our table which made it much better and bearable. The food was delicious with unusual preparations.
Loved the baked eggs, the smoked beet tartare, and the aperol spritz. The service was excellent and they catered to our dietary needs. Also, it was my friends b-day and she was given a complimentary glass of champagne and a small chocolate dessert with happy birthday written in chocolate on the plate.
I really enjoyed sitting outside on the patio, the food and service were excellent
What a great spot! I've been here for dinner, drinks, and brunch and my meals have been wonderful every single time. I love the decor and ambiance as well! I highly recommend the avocado toast (it's different and better than other avocado toasts I've had), the coconut-almond butter beignet, the Nutella pop tart, and the eggs Benedict.
Everything here was great and I can’t imagine anything I would change.
It’s a bright and airy space that is large (as high as wide, it seemed) yet still felt cozy.
Our server, Enrico, could not have been more pleasant. Attentive but didn’t hover.
The food was wonderful. The Gooey Butter Coffee Cake is as decadent as it sounds. My friend had the potato and duck skillet, which, besides being beautiful to look at was beautiful to eat. I had the Chicken and Fraffle. So yummy.
Given the Gold Coast location, you’d think it would be pricey, but it’s not.
Julie came by towards the end to check in on us and we couldn’t help but be gushy with praise.
Definitely recommend this place and can’t wait to go back.
Somerset was the perfect choice for my friend’s birthday celebration. The place itself is gorgeous, the food was amazing, but the service is what really made it. Without asking they printed out a personalized menu for my friend (with a happy birthday message), brought her a complimentary glass of champagne, and finished it off with cake with a candle. Can’t say enough wonderful things about our brunch- thank you!!
It really was amazing. Perfect dinner.
Excellent kale and brussel sprout salad ( I added salmon) LOVED it
my friends had the skirt steak and chicken sandwich and loved as well.
too hot for outside which was a pity as the patio is amazing-had a table right by open kitchen that wasn't the greatest but definitely a great lunch spot!
Santa Monica vibe in Chicago. Great location, good wine selection.
Very nice neighborhood restaurant for delicious dining and exceptional service!
Can't wait to go back.....
It was great. Service could have been better I e more coffee and cream
Dinner got off to a bad start as it was taking a long time for appetizer to arrive. Found out waiter forgot
to order. Recommended Halibut for my dinner & it was excellent so he redeemed himself. Décor is unique
with retro country club atmosphere. Dining room is conversation friendly but you can expect a lot of street noise for outdoor seating.
We had the best time! Our server was great, she did a wonderful job of coursing our meal and facilitated a great al fresco dining experience!
Our dinner was good and so was the atmosphere. Some portions--particularly the scallops were very small.
The kale and Brussel sprout salad was excellent. The challenge was the wine list. The roses were a weird selection and after trying three nothing was good. There should be a good Cote de Provence on the list--the house rose from Provence is poor and there are so many drinkable ones out there. It is a waste. The French whites were also a challenge. We were able to find a Chardonnay we liked. The wine list could use an update with more good quality people pleasing wines--and same goes for by the glass.
Ordered several dishes to share amongst 3 diners. We sent one dish back, a crudités with hummus and green goddess dressing . It tasted terrible; we had barely touched it. Our server said he apologized but never offered to order something else. For us . We were charged for a dish we barely touched , spent $110 for lunch and left hungry. Despite living across the street and very much enjoyed the patio, it seems like a terrible idea to return in the near term.
My group sat outside on a gorgeous summer night and the ambience was just amazing. The server was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and when I told him about my dairy allergy, he advised me in every item I ordered offering suggestions and knowing what would be a problem without even asking. Food was also great! Tried lots of appetizers for the table and everyone absolutely raved about their meal. Will definitely be going back again!
Enjoyed sitting outside and had very good food. I would absolutely go back. Loved the tagliatelle with mushroom bolognese and of course the Fried chicken for which the chef is known.
I have been waiting to try this place for awhile, I went for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Their brunch menu is quite large and has a lot of good options. The granola could have had a bit more fruit for $12 but overall the experience was good. Still a little pricey but fun for a special occasion. The venue itself is really cool, I sat on the patio.
I LOVED it at Somerset. The vibe is so cool - very 60s Mad Men esque. It’s great. The food was phenomenal - pastries were SO good. I went for brunch and it is hands down one of my favorite brunch spots. I’d highly recommend and Caroline, our server, was so great. The duck and egg hash was excellent, the pastries (specifically pop tart) were to die for, and the homemade English muffin with preserves was awesome. Definitely make a trip there!
We went for brunch Sunday before we left Chicago. To be fair to Somerset we need to go again earlier in our trip. Food choices were unique and delicious. My only complaint was I felt hurried by our server, first to order drinks, then to order our food. It felt like he was in a hurry to turn our table- even though there were open tables available. Maybe he was having a hectic day. I had wanted a lovely brunch instead I felt like we had a quick breakfast. Eating outside was wonderful, felt like we were in California.
Excellent for celebrating a birthday! Amazing food, festive atmosphere, and welcoming service.
Sauces complement each entree so well. Perfect preparation of scallops and also duck breast. Try the corn and salt cod fritters, they are great with a martini. Potato articoke side is crispy and delicious. Fantastic service from Kaleb.
Enjoyed a patio table at lunchtime and had such great service! We were deep in conversation, and our server did an excellent job at providing our lunch without being invasive. We had flatbreads (delicious!) and signature drinks. I will definitely come back for a dinner.
Wonderful staff. Beautiful cuisine
We made a reservation for the Fourth of July and it was a great choice! Menu didn't have a lot of vegetarian options, but what they did have was absolutely delicious! We had the flatbread and it was kind of salty but really good nonetheless. We had the Ricotta Dumplings and was really fresh and delish. But when we tasted the Tagliatelle.... Mouth unhinged and dropped. It was out of this world, mind exploding delicious! It is definitely one of my favorite dishes so far in the Gold Coast area. We had a couple of cocktails as well. We had chosen the Pineapple and the Cosmopolitan and both were very refreshing. The service was outstanding and everybody we encountered was extremely nice. The environment was dark but I feel that it would look amazing in the daytime. The restaurant was skillfully designed with gold accents mid century furniture. First floor has a subtle distinction with its use of materials and levels, and unfortunately did not get to visit the second floor, But it looked like it had a killer neon sign. Overall, it was a great experience and will be back soon.
The service was so slow and the restaurant was not even crowded.
The last time I was there the service was so slow too. Not sure why they are experiencing that issue. Is not a new restaurant any more and the Boka Group has experience so this issues should never happen
Love this place every time! Modern Mid century decor that is gorgeous and the food is incredible! And great location
Staff was great, food was delicious
Food & service - Excellebt!!!
Excellent, fresh salads. Lovely ambience on outside patio. Service was great
Nice place for a Sunday brunch especially in this summer with World Cup game.
Great service and food.
The team from BOKA have done it again! My husband and I visited Somerset for the first time last week and had a fantastic dinner. Beginning with the bread service that is absolutely sinful! The rolls are sweet, airy and buttery with the perfect amount of salt sprinkled over the top.... mmmmm. The salt cod and corn fritters were very tasty but a little "light" on the corn in our opinion. Its a big "snack" so best if for a table of 4 vs 2 (if you are also having an appetizer). For appetizers I had the best squid ink pasta I have EVER had! Homemade pasta with plenty of squid and shrimp in a delicious light tomato/garlic sauce. (Next time I am going to order a full portion for my dinner). My husband had the asparagus and burrata salad with black garlic - fantastic!! Perfect combination of flavors (the black garlic is secret). On to the entrees, both were very good (Roast Duck and the Lamb Loin). No room for dessert... oh well more to look forward to next time! Cheers!
Been here twice. Both times very good. Excellent attentive staff. Both times meals were excellent. Last visit was anniversary. They made us feel special. Will go back.
Nothing really special, outdated furniture and tables
I enjoyed the Baked Eggs and the Apersol Spritzer for brunch.
Loved it! The food was so well presented and just delicious. The cocktails are incredible as well.
My duck was undercooked but the smoked beet tartare was delicious.
