Excellent seafood appetizers. Red snapper was delicious.
Really clean, fresh ambience with great food. Went here for a business dinner and didn't disappoint.
Great atmosphere, food and service. Service was fantastic from a personalized communication/additional food for a special occasion, but was overall relatively slow when getting the check. It didn’t really matter since we had a great time!
The food was phenomenal and the staff was friendly.
Service was great! The decor was lovely. The steak was great, as were the miners potatoes. The Cauliflower was good but a little greasy. The broccolini was cooked well but the char ruined the flavor. Burrata was a little watery and the cranberry was strong, but bread it came with was delicious.
Best part of the mean was sweet potato that comes with the steak.
Ashley waitress was sweet but drinks were unappealing. Virgin Bloody Mary was over priced and not palatable
Lobster croquettes very spicy sauce, heavily fried, dry. Skip them. Cheesecake brule fantastic
Service was spotty, my dish was not delivered as I had asked.
Appropriate space between tables to allow business conversation to occur!!
Food was delicious! Would highly recommend!! Be sure to make a reservation.
Schnitzel was absolutely uneatable. Brussel sprouts “highly recommended “ by wait staff tasted like an entire salt shaker added to this appetizer. Hamburger was tiny and quality on par with fast food. All in all maybe the worse meal our party of eight has ever had at a very high price for what you get. The $19 martini was a half A high ball glass. Ridiculous.
We loved Somerset when we dined there for New Years a few years back, and again for a couple of brunches but OMG something has gone wrong here.
Thanksgiving dinner was disappointing
We had so much fun, felt so elevated from the moment we walked in. The sommelier was on hand to tell us about the recommended pairings for our Thanksgiving meal and our server was enthusiastic and attentive. Cocktails were gorgeous.
In the heart of Rush Street area a pleasant surprise. Another Boka group winner. Kitchen is visible from seating area and the care taken with preparation and service shows. Located in the Viceroy Hotel, a restored art decco era building the restaurant has a great vibe outside and inside with its Davey Locker appointments. Highly recommended.
Absolutely delicious, worth every penny
Service was glacial slow. The waiter was rude. The Paul Hobbs cab was acidic for a $100 plus bottle of wine. The salmon was good but the sword fish was way, way overcooked. The broccolini was out on a bed alpo dog food.
Overall a very disappointing experience.
Celebrated on our Wedding Anniversary - the staff and our server David made us feel special! They welcomed us with a mini Champagne toast and treated us to the Pavlova dessert for two. The starters and mains were delicious and creative with ingredients and presentation. We will be back! Thanks
They have gone from quite good too out of this world outstanding. The spicy crab was fantastic the short ribs amazing. Would like to see if you more wine choices though.
One of my favorites. Food is always inventive and delicious. Service is top notch (as always).
Awesome ambience, accommodating staff. Nowhere else was able to host me and my friends for my birthday, even though i was trying to book way ahead and somerset came through
In downtown Chicago for work for one day / night and I’m so glad I decided to dine at Somerset. James was a very knowledgeable and delightful server. Highlights included the beet salad with chicory, the short ribs, swordfish and the lobster egg rolls. We had a wonderful seat facing the kitchen so we could watch all of the activity and beautiful dishes doing by. Would definitely dine here again.
Glad I tried I would go back and try again it’s in neighborhood
Overall it was good food and a good time. I do think the food was a little over priced for what it was. I got the gnocchi and it could have used a little more flavor but I could tell it was fresh and was good overall. Ambiance was nice and the staff was great.
Went to celebrate my friend last night. Service wasn’t great. Good taste was bad. Either too salty or way too sweet. Servers were all in hurry, grab our plant right away after seconds. Overall, disappointing with the price and quantity. Definitely not recommend to anyone who likes to enjoy the evening.
Lovely internationally inspired American cuisine in a gorgeous art deco setting. Great date night or celebration spot
We enjoyed our dinner at Somerset. Our server, Ashley, was wonderful and accommodating. The ambiance was nice, not very busy as we had dinner quite early. I enjoyed the seafood starters and entree, my husband’s steak was slightly over cooked but the flavor was sound. Will definitely return for drinks and appetizers again.
Usually love it here….but service was spotty…no spoon with coffee, appetizer served with entrees, food lukewarm, etc. Overall meh this time around.
their was a hair in the food and all he did was replace it, I was constantly searching for our waiter to refill my water,
One of those places where everything looks amazing but taste is subpar and while fine overall you leave feeling like you should have gone somewhere else at that price.
I liked Somerset, service was fantastic but the menu seemed limited and the wine list was too brief. It is a beautiful space, fun bar, I'll look forward to returning for outdoor seating, location is excellent.
I did not make a fuss about the extremely poor food in the restaurant because I thought it was pointless. However, both my guest and I left our entrees pushed away to the edge of the table after just two bites. This should have raised a red flag to the waiter, but he did not even question why we would leave our entrees basically untouched. About the food, I ordered a tuna tartare which arrived as a grey color (was it cooked?) with vinegar poured over it. My entree was red snapper that had the appearance of a pop tart and was also covered in vinegar. Both were inedible. I did order a side of extremely salty French fries, that were somewhat edible, so I was able to eat something. For $197 in two, one would expect to be able to eat edible food. At the close of our meal, I paid the bill and left a tip of $40 for the inexperienced waiter and wrote on the credit card slip “the food was rubbish and we would not be returning.” On a side note, when this restaurant first opened, it was excellent. Now it is nothing but nothing but glorified fast food at best, swimming in vinegar. I will not return. This is the worst meal I have had in Chicago in the past 15 years.
Food was excellent! Every dish better than the one we just finished.
Everything was absolutely excellent! Our food and our server were exceptional!
We had a great experience. Really enjoyed our evening visiting Somerset with family friends. Our server Ashley was amazing. She has such a positive energy! We will definitely return!
Indoor and outdoor ambience is BEAUTIFUL! Service was outstanding the and food even better! A Gold Coast must.
I live nearby, and I wish I could enjoy Somerset. But the menu is VERY limited, prices high for what it is, service slow. Not a good experience.
While the food is very good it is the team and staff that makes the dining experience so pleasurable. To a person they are kind and accommodating.
