Really nice ambience but horrible food. Very disapointed.
Love this chef. Some nice creative additions to the menu. Service was very attentive yet, relaxed & unobtrusive.
Great food and service
Great atmosphere in the Gold Coast! Food was fantastic!
Amazing atmosphere & amazing food!
We have not dined out in Chicago in a year. We chose to walk to Somerset for dinner. The atmosphere was wonderful and the food was delicious. Our server, McKenzie, was outstanding. It was almost if she magically appeared when we needed something. All in all a great dining experience!
We are so happy Somerset has reopened in our neighborhood.
Our birthday celebration was very nice and our server did light a candle onto our dessert, even though dessert was not complimentary. We were disappointed that the beet tartare is no longer on the menu- that was always our go to appetizer! Our fish dishes were very clean and both the salmon and halibut were excellent quality pieces of fish. We really loved the endive salad - delicious dressing! It just seemed our dining experience was a little less than what we had remembered but we will return. Best patio on the triangle!
There were 3 of us and the semi circle booths upstairs were perfect for our group.
Our waitress was not very warm, didn’t seem to know the menu and far from accommodating.
The food took at least an hour to come out and the wait time for a drink was conservatively 25 minutes.
We had great expectations after walking by so many times, but our experience was a disappointment. There was no acknowledgement for the wait as we sat and stare at a bare table for most of the night.
The only saving grace was the friendly gentlemen filling our waters. He gets a 5/5.
With the high prices charged comes high expectations and this was just a total let down.
Great setting and attentive staff. My drink was all ice, the flat bread was thin and overcooked, the chicken parmesan was overcooked and very dry. The worst meal I have had in many years!!
We had a horrible experience. The service was terrible, my chicken was not cooked all the way through.
really good food, not a brunch party - quiet and reserved.
Brunch was great. The patio was beautiful, the food was fantastic and the staff were attentive.
Boka left. New menu isn’t great. No standouts. Would not be back for dinner
Extremely beautiful space with delicious, light fare, perfect for a date. But better make it the third or fourth date because there are some long waiting times between service.
The food was over cooked. The cocktail I ordered was literally a glass filled to the top with crushed ice and 3 sips of a drink. It’s such a beautiful restaurant so I hope that the foods gets better.
Very expensive and tiny portions. Not worth it at all
I was really hoping to like this place. Met a friend, we were seated promptly, and it took about 10 minutes for the server to ask us about drinks. We ordered, and I ordered an appetizer- pretty standard. He then said ‘So, do you know what you want for the rest of your food? The chef needs to know now’. It was 7 pm, and we were told upfront we had the table for 90 minutes. Seemed like we were being rushed. The food was average. The drinks were average.
We sat outside with plenty of heaters. Service was very slow, 20 minutes before we had a drink.
What a wonderful experience. Sitting outside and facing the Lake and watching the people go by is just such a unique experience. Then, you add friendly service, good drinks, and even better food and you realize the beauty of Somerset. You feel like you are in your own world with the comforting music. We brought the dog and they did everything to keep her pleased. Go to Somerset, sit outside, and take a breath of the great atmosphere. You won't regret it.
The spicy crab with rice appetizer is an awesome dish. Great texture and taste. The food is quite good, but the location and setting is an oasis. Let yourself go.
Not impressed with the food by any means. It’s just not like the old Somerset.
Food was exceptional and service was very good. Will def go back again.
Caitlyn was amazing. Very attentive. Will always go back and see her!
The overall experience was very nice. The food and drink were exceptional, but we did let them know we were celebrating an anniversary and it wasn’t acknowledged. Our drinks also were forgotten.
Good service, pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed meal. Very nice bar areas, both inside & outside terrace.
Celebrating good friends belated birthday. Duck Congit was really good and reasonably priced
The appetizers (sashimi and lobster eggroll) were delicious! The cocktails were well sized and well-poured. The side dishes (Brussels and Fries) were also very good. So, naturally, we were excited for the main course. Unfortunately, whether it was in preparation or delivery to table, the pork chop was very dry and tasted overcooked—the sauce it came with helped but not much. The duck also suffered some dryness, despite nice flavors. It’s a shame that was the last thing we tasted at the end of what was otherwise a really good meal.
Serving time is slow and server ignored our request for ordering dessert
First time here and I can't wait to go back! Our server was fantastic and answered all our questions when we were undecided on what to order. Took her recommendations and we were not disappointed! The mushroom risotto was outstanding, better than any other I have had. My friend had the Miso Salmon and raved about how good the flavor was. We ended with a meringue dessert filled with lemon and blueberry, topped with blueberry "dust." It was magical. My only gripe is that the wine pour is week for the price of it. Other than that, highly recommend.
Our recent experience was very positive. Most importantly, our meals were
delicious, and served in a timely manner. Ambiance was great as we sat by the
window, and watched the world go by. Great social distancing, and Covid protocols.
The salmon latke starters were great, a real treat. But our cocktails were mediocre. One of our wine choices was a very pleasant surprise, the other ho-hum .Two of us ordered a pasta with calamari; the pasta shell was leathery and overpowering for the calamari (an angel hair might have worked). Desserts were ok, not great. Our server was really good even though he told us he was new.
Our waitress was great. We enjoyed the outdoor seating and the beautiful flowers. Tables were spaced appropriately. We loved the flatbread and Pinot Gris
Amazing food and service. I would highly recommend!
The tuna appetizer, while unique and tasty, is a bit overpriced compared to others in the neighborhood. Everybody was happy with their entrees. The biggest complaint about the service (everyone was VERY pleasant) related to the allocation on the check. There were 3 of us and I asked for my own check. We shared the tuna appetizer, but the entire thing was on my bill. We (two of us) decided to share an additional glass of wine, but the whole thing was on my bill. With this couple, no problem. But with some other people, I would have complained. And, it seemed unnecessary. If the restaurant wasn't able to allocate, we should have been told.
Everything was great-only wish when we were asked if wanted outdoor patio an said yes an saw tables available-why then we were put inside behind service area. It was a beautiful night an with a prior reservation felt like put on back burner. Overal though our server was amazing an food/wine was lovely.
There had been a miscommunication about the fixed price only menu. I had thought the regular brunch menu was being offered as well as the set price. Somerset has a very nice brunch menu. The set menu left a lot to be desired.
Overall fairly good experience; only issue is they made us eat an Easter prefix menu: items were hit or miss.
The Lamb was really good, but had a supplement to it; same w caviar eggs.
The dessert was really weak, they just gave us 3 small cookies, which we thought were small and not that great
We went for Easter Brunch and it was beyond amazing. Food blew us away! It was 10 out of 10, the chef is truly unreal. Thank you so much!
Beautiful place, sitting indoor or outdoor. Food was VERY expensive and not worth it in my opinion. Food was good, but didn’t blow my socks off and for the price we paid I expected it to be amazing. I ordered a Bloody Mary and it was so salty that I couldn’t drink it.. waste of $15. Other places out there that are just as pretty and cheaper.
The inside is very chic. The outside still had little green house you could sit inside and dine. Both the inside and outside the tables were socially distanced. The service was good. The food came out over fast but it took almost 15 mins to get our drinks. We all really enjoy the food but thought it was a little pricey. Overall 4 stars.
