Good service, pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed meal. Very nice bar areas, both inside & outside terrace.
Celebrating good friends belated birthday. Duck Congit was really good and reasonably priced
The appetizers (sashimi and lobster eggroll) were delicious! The cocktails were well sized and well-poured. The side dishes (Brussels and Fries) were also very good. So, naturally, we were excited for the main course. Unfortunately, whether it was in preparation or delivery to table, the pork chop was very dry and tasted overcooked—the sauce it came with helped but not much. The duck also suffered some dryness, despite nice flavors. It’s a shame that was the last thing we tasted at the end of what was otherwise a really good meal.
Serving time is slow and server ignored our request for ordering dessert
First time here and I can't wait to go back! Our server was fantastic and answered all our questions when we were undecided on what to order. Took her recommendations and we were not disappointed! The mushroom risotto was outstanding, better than any other I have had. My friend had the Miso Salmon and raved about how good the flavor was. We ended with a meringue dessert filled with lemon and blueberry, topped with blueberry "dust." It was magical. My only gripe is that the wine pour is week for the price of it. Other than that, highly recommend.
Our recent experience was very positive. Most importantly, our meals were
delicious, and served in a timely manner. Ambiance was great as we sat by the
window, and watched the world go by. Great social distancing, and Covid protocols.
The salmon latke starters were great, a real treat. But our cocktails were mediocre. One of our wine choices was a very pleasant surprise, the other ho-hum .Two of us ordered a pasta with calamari; the pasta shell was leathery and overpowering for the calamari (an angel hair might have worked). Desserts were ok, not great. Our server was really good even though he told us he was new.
Our waitress was great. We enjoyed the outdoor seating and the beautiful flowers. Tables were spaced appropriately. We loved the flatbread and Pinot Gris
Amazing food and service. I would highly recommend!
The tuna appetizer, while unique and tasty, is a bit overpriced compared to others in the neighborhood. Everybody was happy with their entrees. The biggest complaint about the service (everyone was VERY pleasant) related to the allocation on the check. There were 3 of us and I asked for my own check. We shared the tuna appetizer, but the entire thing was on my bill. We (two of us) decided to share an additional glass of wine, but the whole thing was on my bill. With this couple, no problem. But with some other people, I would have complained. And, it seemed unnecessary. If the restaurant wasn't able to allocate, we should have been told.
Everything was great-only wish when we were asked if wanted outdoor patio an said yes an saw tables available-why then we were put inside behind service area. It was a beautiful night an with a prior reservation felt like put on back burner. Overal though our server was amazing an food/wine was lovely.
There had been a miscommunication about the fixed price only menu. I had thought the regular brunch menu was being offered as well as the set price. Somerset has a very nice brunch menu. The set menu left a lot to be desired.
Overall fairly good experience; only issue is they made us eat an Easter prefix menu: items were hit or miss.
The Lamb was really good, but had a supplement to it; same w caviar eggs.
The dessert was really weak, they just gave us 3 small cookies, which we thought were small and not that great
We went for Easter Brunch and it was beyond amazing. Food blew us away! It was 10 out of 10, the chef is truly unreal. Thank you so much!
Easter brunch
Beautiful place, sitting indoor or outdoor. Food was VERY expensive and not worth it in my opinion. Food was good, but didn’t blow my socks off and for the price we paid I expected it to be amazing. I ordered a Bloody Mary and it was so salty that I couldn’t drink it.. waste of $15. Other places out there that are just as pretty and cheaper.
The inside is very chic. The outside still had little green house you could sit inside and dine. Both the inside and outside the tables were socially distanced. The service was good. The food came out over fast but it took almost 15 mins to get our drinks. We all really enjoy the food but thought it was a little pricey. Overall 4 stars.
We were definitely not blown away by the food. The menu says the fries are homemade, though it tasted and looked like pre-frozen cut fries. The cocktails were ok, but not great. The halibut was overcooked and didn’t taste very fresh. Overall the food was ok-ish, but for the prices they have, they need to step up their game. I don’t believe we will not be returning to Somerset, as there many other restaurants in Chicago that offer better quality food and cocktails. I would qualify this restaurant as a tourist trap, given the location and overall dining experience.
The tuna appetizer was very good; the pizza was not crispy tho.
Was very disappointed by the quality of the food, I have no problem with small portions but they should be outstanding and we were served under seasoned crab and overcooked chicken/flatbreads. Overall very disappointing food for the price point
The hostess was the rudest person I have EVER encountered in my life. Will never go here again.
The manager assisted very well in this very unorganized restaurant. Some items came out wrong... service was mediocre at best. Bloody Mary’s were unimaginative, untarnished and salty. They were clearly bottled mix and not was we expected. VERY DISAPOINTED!!
On the pricier side but the food is good. Some of the spicy dishes weren’t and the dishes not marked as spicy had a kick. So a little roulette-y but overall a great experience. Our waitress was super nice and we were spaced out in a way that was comfortable in terms of covid safety. I would love some more cocktail options. I felt like a lot had bitters in them.
The rooftop bar was equally nice. Very comfortable couches and a bit different in terms of cocktail menu. Server and host were kind. My one thing here is that I noticed the handicap accessible bar top didn’t have a light. I’d imagine they may need one like everyone else.
Thanks!
Very nice and trendy. Food was awesome
Amazing! Our server Brian was awesome
Fine food was sadly not good at all. Great environment, service and drinks but disappointing food
What a wonderful experience to have dinner in the private igloo!
We had a wonderful server. The food was delightful. The experience was five star. Highly recommend!
It’s clear the restaurant is under new direction with a new chef. The food is subpar now 😦
Overcooked killed Brussels, under ripe avocado in the salad, under browned crispy appetizers. It seemed like every cooking method was improperly applied and produce choice was linked more to cost saving than ripeness.
A shame. I loved this place - please consider taking more pride in what comes out of your kitchen.
Great food and great service. Staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable.
Love the ambiance. The service was great. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. All the food was pretty good, but they served the pasta basically uncooked. It was hard. And I’m Italian I can appreciate a good al dente pasta. Frankly, pasta is so hard to mess up that and somerset is not cheap.
Very nice, but since wine pours are small, should offer less expensive options. 5 ounce wine pour for $14 is ridiculous!
Loved the outside ambiance, service was very good.
What used to be a very good restaurant seems to have deteriorated a lot in terms of food quality. Disappointed.
Food was excellent, drinks were very yummy. Just a little overpriced
Fantastic meal and fantastic service. Really enjoyed eating in the greenhouse. Will definitely be back. Ps try the cheesecake it’s amazing!!!
Many items in the menu online weren’t on the menu
Great brunch, just an okay bloody mary
Pre-covid this used to be my favorite place for brunch and I would always bring people from out of town because the service and food quality was always great. However, we went back now that they reopened and the food quality is not as good as it was before. The short rib hash meat was hard to chew. Nobody brought water for a while, our server didn't come to take our order for a while, the food took a long time as well. It appeared the servers were doing everything, they need bussers at this place now - I didn't see any.
Enjoyed a great anniversary-weekend brunch at Somerset. Food was very good, drinks (incl. coffee) were great.
Food was delicious, played beautifully and the vibe of the whole place was perfect.
