Somerset is a great Rush St dining experience. The restaurant offer a great vibe, tasty cocktails and awesome food. We have been there many times and it never disappoints. There are a lot of good restaurants in the area, but Somerset tops them all.
Food was only fair. Not worth it at all. I had the steak and it was overdone. Others in the group weren’t thrilled either. Go across the street to Tavern on Rush.
Loved the interior with the blue and gold tones and neat chandeliers. Overall the food was good however, the appetizers were better than the actual entrees. Absolutely loved the cheesecake brûlée for dessert. Service was excellent!
Dinner at Somerset was amazing. They were very accommodating of the dietary restrictions at the table and offered solutions for how to make their dishes vegan. We will definitely be returning!
Found Somerset on OpenTable while waiting in a traffic backup. The menu looked fantastic. We booked and were not disappointed! The Cickpea Panisse, Parmesan encrusted chicken & Halibut were simply amazing. Dessert was Cheesecake Brûlée-outstanding- not to sweet, just perfect. Our waiter David was excellent. He was very direct with his answers and helpful with the wine pairing. He knew the menu very well, his descriptions were spot on!
Definitely will be back when we return to Chicago.
Food was great; atmosphere outside was quaint, minus occasional street noise (motorists) which can’t be helped
The four of us were pleasantly surprised with the food. Almost everything was delicious. The only imperfections were the underbaked cookies on the cookie plate. We loved the spicy (not too) crab on rice, the pork chop on terrific vegetables and the pasta. Our friends went mad for the warm mushroom salad and the flatbread. The spritzes were just right. Will be back.
Food wasn’t good, steak over cooked. So disappointed.
The fish came out uncooked. The server asked the kitchen for a new piece of fish which came out. But this interrupted the flow of the meal. Service by the wait staff and atmosphere were excellent
I want to keep loving Somerset but the latest brunch experience was leaving me wanting for more, food wise. Their menu looks good but the execution fell short. Maybe I'll just lower my expectations or just stick to dinner service from now on.
loved all the brunch options and a solid value. i like how you keep changing the menu up
Really nice ambience but horrible food. Very disapointed.
Love this chef. Some nice creative additions to the menu. Service was very attentive yet, relaxed & unobtrusive.
Great food and service
Great atmosphere in the Gold Coast! Food was fantastic!
Amazing atmosphere & amazing food!
We have not dined out in Chicago in a year. We chose to walk to Somerset for dinner. The atmosphere was wonderful and the food was delicious. Our server, McKenzie, was outstanding. It was almost if she magically appeared when we needed something. All in all a great dining experience!
We are so happy Somerset has reopened in our neighborhood.
Our birthday celebration was very nice and our server did light a candle onto our dessert, even though dessert was not complimentary. We were disappointed that the beet tartare is no longer on the menu- that was always our go to appetizer! Our fish dishes were very clean and both the salmon and halibut were excellent quality pieces of fish. We really loved the endive salad - delicious dressing! It just seemed our dining experience was a little less than what we had remembered but we will return. Best patio on the triangle!
Absolutely fabulous! The restaurant is beautiful, the food was delicious and the service was impeccable.
Very cute! The food and drinks were pretty good too
Booked this spot for a special birthday brunch, traveling in from out of state. Made a special request for champagne and a dessert. Spoke with the staff AT LENGTH and even picked out the champagne. Received two follow up calla prior to the visit confirming these details. Got there on Sunday...nothing. Snuck away to the check in station to confirm dessert....check comes and no dessert. Service was slow and no amiability, though they looked well staffed. Radish salad is Instagram worthy, but impossible to eat. The space itself is beautiful, but the whole experience fell so flat and really ruined the day.
Greeting staff was friendly. Table was nice. Had to wait about 20 minutes before the first server showed up. Then we had 2 different servers because there was some confusion about who was assigned to out table Food was ver good and presented beautifully, but the server never came back to see whether we needed anything or check on us other than to ask whether we wanted more cocktails at the very end. Then we had to flag down somebody else to find our server for the bill. All in all: Food was very good, drinks are over priced, server was not good at all. Ambience was decent and noise level was not too loud either .
There were 3 of us and the semi circle booths upstairs were perfect for our group.
Our waitress was not very warm, didn’t seem to know the menu and far from accommodating.
The food took at least an hour to come out and the wait time for a drink was conservatively 25 minutes.
We had great expectations after walking by so many times, but our experience was a disappointment. There was no acknowledgement for the wait as we sat and stare at a bare table for most of the night.
The only saving grace was the friendly gentlemen filling our waters. He gets a 5/5.
With the high prices charged comes high expectations and this was just a total let down.
Great setting and attentive staff. My drink was all ice, the flat bread was thin and overcooked, the chicken parmesan was overcooked and very dry. The worst meal I have had in many years!!
We had a horrible experience. The service was terrible, my chicken was not cooked all the way through.
really good food, not a brunch party - quiet and reserved.
Brunch was great. The patio was beautiful, the food was fantastic and the staff were attentive.
Boka left. New menu isn’t great. No standouts. Would not be back for dinner
Extremely beautiful space with delicious, light fare, perfect for a date. But better make it the third or fourth date because there are some long waiting times between service.
Very expensive and tiny portions. Not worth it at all
The food was over cooked. The cocktail I ordered was literally a glass filled to the top with crushed ice and 3 sips of a drink. It’s such a beautiful restaurant so I hope that the foods gets better.
I was really hoping to like this place. Met a friend, we were seated promptly, and it took about 10 minutes for the server to ask us about drinks. We ordered, and I ordered an appetizer- pretty standard. He then said ‘So, do you know what you want for the rest of your food? The chef needs to know now’. It was 7 pm, and we were told upfront we had the table for 90 minutes. Seemed like we were being rushed. The food was average. The drinks were average.
We sat outside with plenty of heaters. Service was very slow, 20 minutes before we had a drink.
What a wonderful experience. Sitting outside and facing the Lake and watching the people go by is just such a unique experience. Then, you add friendly service, good drinks, and even better food and you realize the beauty of Somerset. You feel like you are in your own world with the comforting music. We brought the dog and they did everything to keep her pleased. Go to Somerset, sit outside, and take a breath of the great atmosphere. You won't regret it.
The spicy crab with rice appetizer is an awesome dish. Great texture and taste. The food is quite good, but the location and setting is an oasis. Let yourself go.
Not impressed with the food by any means. It’s just not like the old Somerset.
Food was exceptional and service was very good. Will def go back again.
Caitlyn was amazing. Very attentive. Will always go back and see her!
The overall experience was very nice. The food and drink were exceptional, but we did let them know we were celebrating an anniversary and it wasn’t acknowledged. Our drinks also were forgotten.
Good service, pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed meal. Very nice bar areas, both inside & outside terrace.
Celebrating good friends belated birthday. Duck Congit was really good and reasonably priced
