Karen was passionate about her job and we loved having her as our server. Great experience !
It’s a very nice open and sunny place What’s good service to have breakfast or brunch with a good friend.
The atmosphere and food were great. The $20 martini was a bit pricey. Our waiter was a bit too efficient. He spoke so fast we had no idea what he said. He moved so quickly and lacked personality but was attentive.
I ordered three Old Fashions at $15 per with a throw in from the waiter of Woodford Reserve Bourbon. It was not explained to me that the Woodford Reserve Bourbon would cause a $12 up charge resulting in a $27 per drink. I complained and the manager haggled and only took off two of the three up charges. Anyway a real lousy experience as they should have fully explained this.
Good food and excellent cocktails in a spiffy setting. More than just a neighborhood gem, Somerset is destination worthy.
Excellent entrees and pasta dishes and consistent and delicious. The chicken for two is a must try.
Excellent brunch with a beyond yummy pastry selection. Old fashioned donuts will dekight.
Great food and atmosphere! Squid ink pasta is a must have
One of the best all-around restaurants in Chicago that harmonizes the balance between eclectic and approachable. The food is phenomenal especially for brunch and the staff are attentive and management really made us feel special. If there's an occasion you're celebrating, be sure to let them know in advance and you will not be disappointed!
The decor is Gatsby-gorgeous and perfect for date night or drinks and a catch-up. Planning another visit ASAP!
Great venue and service. Food was good but menu could have a better selection
First time in Chicago and it was a great time. We will be back!
Dinner for two on NYE! The food was great but the service was a little slow, however its understandable as it was new years eve and very busy. The staff was friendly! Beautiful restaurant!
The manager, Jessica, was very attentive and helpful.
Reserved an early NYE dinner and it didn't disappoint at all. Our server was extremely attentive all night, food was delicious and the overall experience top notch.
1st time at this restaurant was a very nice experience enjoyed the flat iron steak but the sea scallops had too much sauce. Not sure why chefs bury their delicious protein in heavy sauces no need to do that.
Went for brunch and everyone was pleased with their orders. Food was excellent. The pastry board was phenomenal. Service was excellent, as well.
Everything we ordered was delicious. Service and atmosphere were top notch
Food was excellent, service outstanding, 10/10 reccomend.
Fantastic restaurant. Great food. I was with a party of 6 and everyone loved their meals. Our waitress, Emily was helpful and knowledgeable. The environment was conducive to conversation-a real change and very welcome. Can't wait to go back
While the food was delicious, the service would prevent me from returning. Wine and ordering our dinner took way too long. I had to ask for our waiter since he never welcomed us to the table. He even seemed annoyed by us asking to order dinner (I wanted to take advantage of him being at our table since I was unsure when we'd see him again). It is a real shame since the food was very, very good. The duck was perhaps the most tender I have ever had, gnochiette was outstanding, and the beet tartare never disappoints.
Great restaurant and great atmosphere! The chicken is amazing.
This was my second time here and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the scallops, kale salad and brussel sprouts side. Had a delicious martini and maybe it was because of the gin I ordered but it was $20, but I enjoyed that my blue cheese olives came over ice. I was disappointed that I couldn't sit upstairs since there was a private party so I would recommend sitting up there if you can for a more intimate experience.
This was our first time at the restaurant and our experience was very positive. The service was high energy and very friendly. The execution on our appetizers and entrees was top-notch. We'll be back!
It was very noisy and very busy. That said, our service was attentive and thorough. My friend had the kale and brussels sprout salad with chicken. She loved it! The chicken was moist and the dressing for the salad was terrific.
I had the baked eggs, which is just another name for shakshuka. It was tremendous. The portion was served in a small skillet and it was perfectly cooked. We were both very happy to eat there. We would both recommend it to anyone dining in the Chicago area.
And the coffee was superb, too.
Fantastic all around - came with two kids and the staff and service was great!
The service was excellent. As a younger group, I often feel a little put out by the service as there is an expectation that we will not tip well. Our waitress was excellent; above and beyond. I only wish I could remember her name. Somerset has a very nice atmosphere and their food is delicious. We very much enjoyed having brunch there and are planning to go in the future.
We had a reservation at 8:30 PM and were not seated until 9:30 PM. We continued to work with the hostess for the majority of the evening to try and resolve as there were numerous tables that were done with dinner but just sitting there. I think the restaurant could have done a much better job at managing the reservations and tables. Waiting 1 hour at that hour made us have to change our plans for the remainder of the evening as we sat down much later than expected. I enjoy Somerset very much, but this situation was handled very poorly and made me question coming back again.
Overpriced for average food offering.
Bad service, the restaurant is always late on reservations, had to wait 35 minutes to be seated
Would not recommend going here , way too many better restaurants in Chicago
The short ribs were amazing!
The noise was so loud from the private party upstairs and the music playing that I couldn’t hear my guest talking and she felt like she was yelling! Too-too noisy for everybody in the restaurant! Another table asked to be moved because of the noise. No place to go! Management needed to ask the party upstairs to stop shouting! Poor management!! I’ll come back in the summer when we can eat outside with traffic noise and sirens blowing ( at least that is on and off)! Or Never go back! There are too many really good restaurants in in the immediate area without obnoxious noise levels that go unchecked by management! Who needs it?
Went to Somerset for Sunday brunch. The service, the food and the ambience were all outstanding! Ordered the short rib burrito and fried chicken and brioche French toast. The brioche French toast is absolutely amazing and the fried chicken was so delicious. Highly recommend that dish! Also had a bloody Mary which was excellent.
Incredible pastry selections. Brunch was delicious with many items we could have easily chosen. Service was delightful...Isabella was our knowledgeable server and never failed with her recommendations. This was our first visit but we enjoyed it so much that we cancelled our reservation at another well rated restaurant to come back to Somerset for dinner...something we NEVER do. Excellent location as well. 20/10 stars!
Such a fun brunch with friends. The ambiance was relaxing and fun, and the food was delicious (especially that cinnamon roll!). Had an excellent table that made it easy to hear everyone and service was fantastic! Would love to visit again soon
Food was good but it came out cold and this is the second time I have experienced that.
Toward the end of our dinner, it felt like we were being kicked out. While we had half a bottle of wine left at 9:15, they packed it up for us and told us they closed in 45 minutes. It was bizarre.
Visiting my son who lives in the city and he recommended your restaurant. It was our first time there and brunch was fantastic. Our server, Summer, did a wonderful job and was very attentive.
We will definitely return for brunch and try dinner in the future.
Great service and food! Came here with some out of town friends and we were so pleased with our choice.
My daughter and her friend had a great time celebrating his birthday. Thanks again to Somerset for another great dinner.
we were seated in the back room which we did not care for. this was not our first time here and the food was good as always but we did not care for the back room.
Delicious food but a special shout out to our server Ben!!!! So attentive, great recommendations and great conversations. So nice to be so well treated!
Although the food was good, the appetizer was a little off and the service was lacking. If a restaurant shuts down the kitchen for a couple of hours, let the people with a reservation just before that time know in advance. Make it a not on OpenTable. Since the restaurant wasn’t
Karen always offers the best service and really elevates the Somerset brunch experience- our absolute favorite!!
