Chef-owner Jinda is a specialist in Som Tum dishes. She first plied her trade back in 1974 in the local university before moving downtown Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand. The Isan-style spicy fish maw with bamboo shoot salad has a nice balance of herbs and its powerful aroma is punctuated by the intensity of the Tiliacora juice. The signature, Som Tum with crispy catfish, dispenses an impressive tang. Som Tum Jinda is also famous over the border in Laos where they have another branch, and new location in downtown Toronto Canada.

The atmosphere is so pleasant and the food is incredible. The staff is super friendly.

Excellent food, but it came out at very different times, with the only vegetarian in our party of six waiting for 55 minutes for her veggie pad see ew (and being the only vegetarian, she couldn't share in any of the other dishes that had already arrived). Because we waited so long without any updates from staff on a delay, we all picked at our food, which was cold by the time hers came. Staff was kind when we complained, and removed the 18% gratuity from the bill for the party of six (we still tipped, just not as much), but expectations could've been managed much better, or many dishes could've been held back so everything came at once and at the same temperature, rather than getting cold at our table while we waited for our friend's food to arrive. I was very disappointed, especially because I'd ordered takeout before and loved the food, and recommended Som Tum Jinda to my friends to go to in person, so felt responsible for their less than great experience. Hoping that orders coming to tables are more consistent for others.

The only criticism I have at all is the music could be a little more quiet so you can hear your fellow diners.

Phenomenal food, great service. Chilli sauce was so good my husband is buying it for himself! Pork jowl was unbelievably good. I'm dreaming of this food.

We were seated in the back corner of the restaurant and it was hard to get the waiter’s attention. Our food was not served at the same time. Some of us had to ask when our food will be ready. By the time all the food was brought to us, one of us already finished their food. Otherwise, the food was good and worth the value.

A budget place with top-tier taste. Simply delicious and left you craving for more when the dish was emptied. Appreciate that they had vegan items on the menu. Decent portion size with mid-range prices. Staff was very friendly. Place had about ten tables (most were for 2). Ambience was a bit noisy for any decent conversation but heck, just surprised the noise wasn’t dominated by slurping sound from the delicious food!

Very imaginative food. Different from any other Thai food that I’ve had. I will definitely come back and spread the word among friends.

Food was awesome. I meant to celebrate a friend’s bday discreetly however staff didn’t seem to be aware of the note that was on the reservation. This made me wonder why open table asks this info if it needs to be repeated at the restaurant.
