I reserved a table for brunch last Sunday and when I arrived the place was locked down. If the business wasn't open it would have been nice to receive a message from someone stating that it was closed.
We loved the atmosphere. The food was very tasty & a great value. The cons are the music was a little loud & the waiting staff was short staffed. Overall, I recommend this place
They had music issues that day, hence why I only took away one star and it was a nice vibe but pretty empty. Could be because I came later in the day for brunch on a Sunday. But the food was fire 🔥🔥. Def would come again.
I came to NY from Boston for a weekend, and because of my West Indian background, I, and my family, were looking for something tasteful around the area. This place happened to pop up on Google, so we decided to go for brunch on Saturday.
When we arrived, the person in front asked if we had a reservation, which we that was fairly odd, because there was literally (I kid not) about 12 people in the ENTIRE establishment. The music was LOUD, and boy do I mean loud. We couldn’t hear a word anyone was saying. The decor is nice, but it’s definitely misleading. I didn’t mind though.
The issue we had mainly stemmed from the service: the waiter came to our table once, and that was only when she was taking our order. We waited entirely too long for our food. No one asked if we needed anything. It was a little ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong: if it was a Fri night and I was looking for club vibes with my friends, this would be my first choice, but other than that, I wouldn’t come here. If you’re from Boston, this is extremely similar (in ambiance) to Darryl’s or 2Twenty2. Its been 3 hours since we left, and I am STILL wondering why they had a whole DJ blasting music to a room with 12-15 people in it LOL!
Great Brunch spot, music, food and service was on point!!
Go for the food and drinks ! Appetizers, entrees and drinks were all delicious. My mom is a picky eater especially since she’s a seasoned Caribbean cook and literally nothing disappointed her ! She even fell in love with the sorrel cocktail and she’s not a drinker by any means. We visited on a Sunday evening for dinner and the food did take a bit longer than I’m accustomed to waiting but it was worth it! Everything was freshly prepared plus the presentation was everything!
I have been here a few times and the food is always amazing. Food a bit of a Caribbean flare with really good flavors. The cocktails are everything a drink should be and more. Staff is very accommodating and always friendly. The vibe is very upbeat while still allowing for a conversation with friends.
This place is A+ all the way
Very disappointed that on a Friday evening at 6PM, there was no meat options. Not goat, no oxtail. We had to settle for seafood.
Took long to serve us , or refill water but is an ice place
Everything about Solomon & Kuff is great from the service, food, and drinks. The only problem I had was I waited 20 minutes to be seated with a reservation and I waited an hour for my food.
Excellent food and cocktails in a cool industrial setting
Ackee is my favorite dish From here!
I just find two little crab cakes $14 expensive. The drinks were great
The food did not have seasoning
As routine guests at this restaurant we know how the food normally tastes on this visit the food just was not good. Apparently sundays alot of food has run out. A dish that is normally served on coco bread was served on hamburger buns! Unacceptable... please fix this especially for Sunday night dinner . I am Caribbean an the food was not to my standard
Amazing food and great drinks in a lively at
Great music and nice scenery, including the venue if you get what I mean 😉! Overall a satisfied customer here and now I'm gonna bring my friends through!!!
Always has great food and drinks. Nice atmosphere and a good place for a quiet dinner.
We had a 6pm reservation however we did not get seated until 7:30 and we had to wait outside for them to finish with brunch. We were told that the party went on longer than expected.
The music was loud we asked if the could lower the volume the hostess told us that it was up to the DJ.
Food was great but it took 45 minutes. At the end of dinner we were charged for drinks we did not order $68 worth.
Not my type of restaurant.
I called several times to say I would be late for the brunch on 5/26. When I knew it was past the 15 minute grace period, I called again and said that a member of my party was there so they could hold the table for us (we had a party of four). At no point was I told that they could not seat one person, so I was expecting that they would hold the table. They did not and we waited quite a long time when we got there, although it did not seem overly crowded.
They also ran out of Ackee, one of the main items we were expecting to get. The food was disappointing and did not meet our overall expectations for authentic Caribbean food. I was very underwhelmed. The music was the only thing I enjoyed.
The dj is very good he played a little bit of everything (Afro beats, reggae, hip-hop). I had the jerk chicken but I initially wanted oxtail but they didn’t have any available but the jerk chicken was seasoned well and spicy. I think they need a bigger menu and a desert section but other than that it’s a great Caribbean restaurant
Extremely loud , poor service , food was just ok. Def not a place for date night or anyone over 30 or mature . Too much money for such poor quality dining . Won’t be back
I was expecting a bit more than what I got, food was ok not great, music was good, atmosphere was ok, checked the website before I went but it wasn’t what I was expecting maybe it was the fact that the menu was on a clipboard instead of an actual menu but like I said wasn’t what I expected and I don’t think I would recommend it! Wasn’t anything great! Sorry that’s just my opinion
Nice place on street parking available. Only negative takes long time for food to be served after you order your drinks.
I enjoy the food very much, the restaurant is beautiful... However the music was too loud, had a date and we could not hear each other..we had to almost yell to have a conversation... You need to hire more waiting staff. I went on a Sat and there was only one person in the front waiting tables. We received our food over an hour after we placed our order..
Food, service, music, Great
All that I could ask for
An awesome time Sam amazing. The bartenders amazing. The food and dj amazing
I would recommend them for the food & drinks. The chicken and waffles was delicious, lemon spritzer pretty good. Drawback was the wait which was crazy. Sat down at the table around 12:45. Got food after 2:15. the stove broke down or paper printer broke down, according to manager. Should’ve served snack until the food came. I will go back but they must be a little bit faster
Ive been to Solomon.... about 5 times and I dont know if there is a new chef in the kitchen but the food didnt taste too appealing, it was very bland. I was on a date and he was disappointed as well, being that I recommended this place i was a little embarrassed. The food is normally flavorful and delicious. Probably was a off night. Overall, the service is amazing my waitress made accommodations , the atmosphere and vibes are too dope and positive, I'll go back.
The food and atmosphere was great. They have an experienced waitress that made the experience better. They have to work on customer service when running behind. Despite that I will go again in the future.
I would recommend for the food only. The service was horrible. Our waitress spilled our drinks on the table and she wasn’t attentive at all. We had to summon her when we needed things. ( extra napkins etc)
The food was poor. The service was worse. We went for brunch and were surprised to learn they don't serve coffee (or any hot beverages). We ordered beers. After almost ten minutes our server returned to tell us the bar was out of beer. The chicken and waffles brings what one expects when ordering chicken wings, and the waffles were bland. The fried fish was sad to look at and the accompanying yucca was somehow both greasy and dry. Our server acted as if our presence were a hinderance to her day. Never again.
The service was terrible. The original waitress seemed to be high and the manager did very little to address our concerns or offer a true accommodation. The food was amazing, drinks were blah. We won't return and the table next to us said the same thing.
First, the food and drinks were great and I’d definitely come back. Just not after Sunday brunch. I had a 6:30 pm reservation on a Sunday. When we arrived, we had to find a bartender who said she’d go find a manager to seat us. Once someone came for us (about 10 minutes after arrival) we were told that the kitchen was turning over and they needed a few minutes, so we should sit at the bar until the kitchen was ready. He also said that he’d come to get us when our table was ready. After about an hour and fifteen minutes of chatting at the bar, we looked around to realize that orders had started to come out for tables that had been seated since we were at the bar. We completely enjoyed our time at the bar getting lost in conversation but we had to find someone to ask them to seat us. Once we were seated, an overwhelmed server (she mentioned that she had been working since the morning), took our order and brought our food.
Came all the way from Boston to have Sunday Brunch with my boyfriend. Tried it last year on my birthday and HAD to come back! It was our favorite part of our weekend trip. From the music, the food, and the boozy brunch mimosas! The staff, the DJ, the vibes and setting, just PERFECT.
The food was great as always I went during brunch hours 12 noon/1pm. I just wish they'd find a comfortable level to play the music. There's a difference between creating atmosphere and just adding noise. While the songs were classics I couldnt carry a conversation with the ppl at my table.
I’m sorry but food was horrible and drinks were sent back. Waitress even tasted the drinks and agreed. I heard great things so came to try, was definitely disappointing. Will not be coming back.
When we got there we were greeted, seated and given a menu. The music was great. We were given a glass of water and waited 15 mins until a waitress came to our table. When we placed the order for drinks and food we waited another 15-20 min until we left. No drinks or food. When we looked over at the bar the employees were on their phone not making any drinks and waitress no where to be found. There wasn’t that many people waiting- probably was 3 groups in the dining area. People before us still didn’t get their food and they were there at an hour before us. Will not be going back there. Worst experience ever!!!
Best overall brunch. Banana bread pancakes were to die for!!!
