Solea Restaurant and Tapas Bar Ratings and Reviews
The food was good, as was the atmosphere, etc. We have dined here often before and will return again. It's an authentic place and in general a very good experience. I would say that it feels like there are a few things they could do and should do to elevate themselves from 4-star to 5-star and really become an excellent place. Some of the layout is awkward, and the place is a little to bright light-wise for evening diners. One small nit, the paella is a little overcrowded and not true to the type one gets in Spain...don't get me wrong, it's tasty, but not the same as what you'd see in paella in Spain. Perhaps this is just adjusting for American expectations though.
We are repeat visitors and always happy with food & service. We went for my husband's birthday this time and the food was excellent! Our server gave us A+ service, she was attentive, friendly and prompt.
We couldn't have asked for better romantic / birthday evening! We will be back.
Authentic and delicious food, as always. Mussels, garlic shrimp, ham, and artichoke tapas were outstanding. This restaurant has grown over the years. We asked for and were seated in a quiet and more secluded booth near the front of the restaurant where the four of us could hear each other perfectly. The drinks were great. Service was tops. Solea never disappoints!
Solea is a very reliable, comfortable, no fuss sort of place that serves a broad variety of well prepared, even if not overly imaginative, food. If your tastes go more in the direction of simpler, uncomplicated food I think you will be very happy here. The service has always attentive and efficient without being over the top. An easy place to eat, and a reliable and well liked go-to for comfortable unfussy meals for my extended family and friends.
Nice selection of tapas. Plenty to share. The best was the short ribs. Red wine sangria was excellent. Service was relaxed and nicely paced for a friends' get-together where the focus was talking and catching up, not the food or drink. Some good music in the background that did not impede conversation. Just a little surprised that there were not more 'taste treats' ( phenomenal, mouth-watering combos thT you just can't get enough of).
It was a beautiful, warm night and having open air tables was a definite plus.
Tasty food, very good service.
Our server was extremely helpful and considerate. Upon finding out that one member of our party was allergic to shrimp, she checked on every tapas to see, not just if shrimp might be in it, but if there could be any cross-contamination.
Every dish was at least good, and some were excellent. Each member of our party had their own favorite, but the broccoli fritters , the salmon ( and the churros for dessert) got everybody's high rating.
Caution: One review said there is parking behind the building. NO! We asked when we made reservations; parking there is for condo owners, and they do tow. We parked in a lot (free after 6 pm) and walked.
Paealla (sp?) sounded good, but opted for lots of tapas instead. Gazpacho was excellent as were Du Jour tapas. Good variety of tapas were offered on the menu, and we enjoyed every one we ordered. Portions were small, as expected. Bill was a little high because of the number of plates ordered, but we were very full.
Service was good, not intrusive, but efficient. Noisy, but no different than most restaurants these days. Place was roomy and could accommodate large group.
All in all, very good, but not fabulous.
We were seated in a middle room that lacked the charm and ambiance that has always kept me coming back to Solea. In management's attempt to update the restaurant, they need to be careful they don't loose that truly unique identity.
The experience we had was absolutely horrible. We waited good ten minutes before placing order, then waited nearly thirty minutes for the first two tapas to arrive, when finally got our last order it was missing lamb meat balls. Nearly an hour of total wait before getting our full order delivered. For somebody with Type 1 Diabetes, insulin dependent, this is absolutely the worst place to dine in.
Celebrated a graduation with family and friends. Our waitress was wonderful. The suggestions for tapas she suggested were as good as they sounded. Valencia Paella was delicious, but I would have liked a deeper layer of rice. Tapas makes it hard to gauge how much you are eating so be careful. We had a few dishes come after we really were full.
Solea Tapas never dissapoints. We have been trying otherTapas placescloser to home, but Solea remains our favorite.
You must try the Goat cheese in tomato sauce and the sizzling shrimp and garlic.
If you are trying a new wine, the waitress offers a "taste" pour to help with the decision.
The food was excellent. We had an array of meat and vegetable dishes. This was not our first time and we have consistently found the food to be very tasty with intense, vibrant flavors. It is a fun, festive environment great for group dinners with friends or family.
Definitely not to have a quiet conversation. Noise level is really high!
Food was good as it was the Sangria. However, if you pretend to compare it to a Sangria or a paella in Barcelona or anywhere in Spain, it comes out a little short on the comparison. It's good, very good to eat here, but if your standards are up there, to the level of the country of origin of these meals (even Empanadas, comparing to those in Argentina), you'll enjoy your meal, but will not fulfill ALL your expectations...
Service was excellent!!! The waitress went above and beyond her job to make sure everything was great!
I had a good experience at Solea. The crostini with goat cheese, mushrooms, and artichokes was my favorite dish. We also got the lamb meatballs, which were pretty good, the shortrib, which was good, and the salmon, which was ok. The salmon seemed like it could have been a bit fresher, but it was seasoned and cooked well. The sangria was pretty good, too. Overall, a great place to chat and catch up with a friend--for a drink and 4 tapas we each paid about 30 bucks, which I thought was really fair.
It's always fun to share food of all kinds with family and friends which is one reason this place is great. No complaints on the drinks or the food and the atmosphere is always really nice. Our only negative experience with was with our waitress. From the very beginning she seemed bothered to be there, was short with us, and generally had a negative attitude. I am not sure if she was having a bad day or if that's how she usually operates, but it was disappointing to choose this restaurant for a special occasion and feel as though we were bothering her. I would definitely return but request that I not be seated at any of her tables.
