We visited during restaurant week. We each ordered 3 tapas. Sauteed artichokes were fantastic as was the ceviche. Drinks were very pricey for Waltham.
Table was ready, diverse and delicious menu with something for everyone in the group. An excellent waitress who knew the emu well.
Terrific food & drinks & our waitress was really helpful!
The food was poor overall including the paella Valenciana. Unfortunately we would not recommend nor would we return.
We went to Solea to celebrate my birthday, we had not been in a while and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious, I don't eat meat and my husband does, there was a good mix of meat and non-meat dishes. The service was great, the people were friendly. There was a nice ambiance, some music, lowered lights but not dark, and not too loud, so that we could talk and hear each other. I also love the colorful decor. I want to go back again, and will refer Solea to friends.
Only issue was dessert was delayed for half of our table.
Churros tasted a bit fatty and didn’t seem to have any cinnamon.
We shared some tapas: The Lomo de Buey a las Frutas and the Cevice were our favorites as were the Churros with chocolate sauce for desert. The Tostadas de Alcachofas were a bit bland. While the pitcher of white sangria was good, too much of it was ice.
Missing the sister restaurant Tapeo that recently closed we tried Solea and were pleasantly surprised that the food was just as good.
I’m Spanish and I stoped going to Spanish restaurants outside Spain a while ago. Solea was just the same not very good/real Spanish tapas and way overpriced
We were there to thank a friend for helping me out when I really needed some help and we had a very nice dinner together (the 3 of us)
Mario took care of us quite well. He was attentive but not disruptive, a talent of a good server.
Dish choices were plentiful and all good.
Solea is one of the best restaurants in downtown Waltham, Mass.! My wife and I go for special occasions, including anniversaries, birthdays, and Valentine's Day. Our friends and family know where to get us gift certificates, and we always enjoy the ambiance, tasty dishes, and service.
Went here for my boyfriends birthday and could not be happier! The food was absolutely incredible. The waitress was kind and funny while also giving us appropriate space, and the service was fast.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We go here for dates and I had a large birthday dinner here. Food is amazing. Eacpecially the sauces. We love the SANGRIA royal!
Food is average to below average. Gambas, the quintessential tapas dish, was flavorless, and the shrimp did not taste fresh. Overall it was an underwhelming meal, and the service was cordial, but not warm and friendly.
Nice atmosphere; waiter very good (helpful, but not pushy). All the food was good ( we ordered several tapas - 5 for four people) and the chicken and sausage paellla), but nothing was exceptional. Nothing stood out and made me think, I want to come back and get this again soon. Portion size on the tapas seemed a bit small for the price (I get it that they are just tapas), but the paella portion was generous.
Food and service was very good. The short rib and the special steak with a creamy apricot sauce were phenomenal! The mussels, cauliflower & broccoli croquets were also very good. Not so good were the calamari...kind of fishy and garlicky and not in a good way. Those were pretty much left untouched. But overall, it was a fun environment with cool decor...sort of Spanish medieval. The tapas style is more family oriented so people enjoy it more..I think. It can get expensive since most of the dishes are small with less expensive price tags. HOwever, we ordered two of most things so it did add up. For 5 people and only 4 drinking, cost $300 with tip. We ordered churros for dessert and they were ordinary. They tasted just like the ones at Costco for $1.00 each. Overall, I would recommend this place and I would go again.
Solea’s is always an excellent restaurant. Great service. food and sangria always impeccable on any occasion. My favorite restaurant in Waltham for many years.
Amazing time with my bf
Fantastic meal, service, ambiance. Make sure to try the red sangria (honest!) and as many tapas as possible! A terrific addition to our list of favorites.
Delicious fresh food. Try the lamb meatballs. Best I've ever tasted.
It was a great experience.
Food and service are always terrific! We LOVE coming here for dinner and sangria!
Solea is one of our local choices. Always delicious, no matter the tapas choices we make. Don’t miss it!
Solea is one of those rare restaurants you can count on time after time after time. Whether for a birthday, date, casual late night dinner, reunion with family, introducing friends to Boston, it never disappoints. The cocktails, service and food ... and atmosphere are outstanding.
My husband and I have dined here a few times when in Waltham. The food has always been excellent, with good service and atmosphere. The tapas are perfect for sharing between a couple (5-6 plates).
Good food, small plates so you can share & taste a variety of different foods. Very comfortable restaurant, attentive but they don’t rush you.
Ww waited 30 minutes with no one approaching our table. After numerous attempts to catch the eye of a waiter, I finally had to go search out the manager to request some service. After I complained we did get a waiter assigned to us, but he wasn’t very helpful and disappeared for long periods of time. The restaurant was mostly empty on a Friday night and the decor was pretty tired. The food was fine, but nothing special. Many of the dishes arrived cold. I hadn’t been here in years, but had remembered it fondly and thought it would be a fun place to bring a few friends. I was embarrassed by the poor service and mediocre food. I won’t be returning.
I love this restaurant. I miss some of the old favorite on their new menu but overall year and year this is one of the best places to go for good wine, company and food.
Solea in downtown Waltham, Mass., is our go-to spot on Moody Street for special occasions. All the tapas menu items are tasty, the service is attentive, and the ambiance is fun. We'll be back!
Outstanding menu, service, cocktails. We love this place.
We had a good dinner, the tapas were all good other than the potatoes bravas being way undercooked (very crunchy). Sent them back and the second round was better. The lamb meatballs were really tasty! I would go back again.
Good neighborhood restaurant. I wish they had some easy parking though.
Been several times - always good food and service. Definitely a nice place for dinner.
All the dishes were very good although probably won’t have the potato omelette again. But everything else was fantastic. Great for vegetarians.
Everything was so delicious - the paella was great and I could eat a pound of the broccoli cauliflower fritters. Will definitely be back to try more things on the menu - they clearly do everything well.
Excellent, food, and service. It’s a restaurant that we will return.
The tapas was only fair. Some dishes meant to be served hot were only tepid. Spicing was bland in most cases. It was okay but of 6 dishes ordered, none were special or worth returning for. Too bad.
The food was good, as was the atmosphere, etc. We have dined here often before and will return again. It's an authentic place and in general a very good experience. I would say that it feels like there are a few things they could do and should do to elevate themselves from 4-star to 5-star and really become an excellent place. Some of the layout is awkward, and the place is a little to bright light-wise for evening diners. One small nit, the paella is a little overcrowded and not true to the type one gets in Spain...don't get me wrong, it's tasty, but not the same as what you'd see in paella in Spain. Perhaps this is just adjusting for American expectations though.
Enjoyed the Tapas and Paella. The place is spacious and not too loud so one can enjoy conversations. I have been to Solea several times and will continue to go there.
