Food was just okay; we tried lamb, duck, chicken liver. Service was not good at all. I asked for lemon in my water. Girl brought one peace without plate.
Excellent service and attentive service. Food was delicious, fresh and creative.
Food was awesome, easy relaxed space , service was great. Overall great experience!
We love tapas and I had great expectations for this restaurant. The ambiance and descriptions of the food far outclassed the quality and taste of the food. I would absolutely defer people away from this restaurant. The waitress was lovely, however she made no effort to explain the various dishes as she floated by the table and dropped them off. Just an overall POOR.
Our favorite restaurant in Waltham. Very consistent and delicious menu. The special salad was arugula and very good. Mussels are always great with a spicy sauce. There is something for everyone here.
All in all great place for family and friends. Service was just a little slow and never really can back to check in with us. Food was great! Drinks were great!
One of my favorite places!
We have dined at Solea many times and have always had a wonderful dining experience - the other night was no exception! Fabulous!
Great tapas bar, very good cocktails and food choice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Great food with cool atmosphere! However, service was not the best.
Food was okay. Short rib was delivered very cold. Sent it back, but still got charged for 2. The manager made a very bad attempt at trying to explain. But we still in the end we're charged for one.... even though it came well after we were done. We were given the bill without even asking if we wanted coffee or dessert. When we told the manager this she again didn't handle well. Btw we were charged for the coffee and dessert that we had to ask for. I remember this place being amazing. It was so disappointing and we will not be going back.,
Longtime favorite with family and friends. Some nice adds to the menu, like the mushroom crostini. Old favorites are always delicious. You really can't go wrong. The wait staff was not as well trained as previous visits, disappearing for long periods particularly when we wanted our check. She didn't have the same balance of not rushing us (which we love) and actually being helpful when the meal was obviously over and we were looking to leave...
Second time at Solea. Service was good (not exceptional), food was tasty, sangria was delicious. If you like authentic Spanish Tapas this place is perfect. Not outrageously pricey, good food for the value.
Solea is one of my favorite restaurants- it's always delicious and fun!
The waiter had an attitude the entire meal. It was my birthday so my fiancé brought a cake. When we asked the waiter to refridgerate the cake, he rolled his eyes at us but accepted it. He never brought me a menu when I wanted to order more tapas mid-meal. I had to ask a table beside us after waiting for 15 minutes for a menu. When we were finished the waiter didn't clear the table and I had to ask another waiter to clear our table. Our waiter came back over and asked if we wanted anything else and I told him...my birthday cake. He said we couldn't have the cake because it was a "health code violation." I proceeded to speak with the manager who said the same thing and then told us they could charge us $4 per person to give us a plate and fork to eat our cake with. We weren't going to pay for this but my dad wanted my birthday to be special so he said he would. Only 3 out of the 6 guests had cake (and the other 3 weren't given plates) yet we were charged $24, for everyone, which would mean that 6 people should've had cake but only 3 did. The manager left us the check and snottily remarked, "here is the check, and the cake plating fee." After the way we were treated that night, on a $500 bill, I will NEVER return to this restaurant. It is such a shame because the food is really good. Unfortunately they don't understand you need to treat your patrons with respect or they won't come support your business!
Solea is a restaurant with great tasting food, offering a wonderful variety of flavors, as well as an accommodating gluten-free menu. Our dinner was delicious!
Overall, was very pleased with the experience. We ordered 7 small plates and with the exception of the Calamari, which was a bit too chewy for my liking, found the food to be quite good. That coupled with the very solid pitcher of red sangria made for a very enjoyable night out. One suggestion....if you make a reservation, leave yourself PLENTY of time to find parking .
First time to Solea. Group of 5. We ordered a ton of food and it was all yummy. Three pitchers of sangria...2 white and 1 berry. Forget the berry, the white is fabulous! We didn't realize that the lamb meatballs never came, but we had plenty of food. Too bad we are leaving Boston, we may not get a chance to try the lamb.
Love the food. Wish it wasn't so noisy. Great sangria.
Two of us shared six tapas, and they were all good. The ceviche was grand; salmon and bass in a sauce that was not overly citrusy--just the right amount. The calamari was good, quite tender, not rubbery at all. The steamed mussels were very good, in a nice sauce which was great for dipping bread into. The beef tenderloin was rare and tender. The tortilla (an egg, potato and onion dish) was quite good. And the scallops in a creamy saffron sauce were just divine. Dessert was flan and churros--we shared each dish. I thought the flan was just okay, but my wife really liked it. The churros were really good. The service was a bit slow--apparently a busy night (Mother's Day. We were not in a rush at all, so it was fine for us. Dinner took about two hours. I look forward to going back for more.
Super good food, really excellent and after all, isn't that what it's all about? Also, great selection, reasonable but not cheap, great decor, service fine. No complaints.
Everything was great. We had never been before, so the waitress explained everything in detail and told us we were ordering too much as they were very large servings Food and drinks were excellent. We were late because of the local traffic and they held the table for us
was taken for Mother's Day - it was a lot of fun. Great food.
Fun atmosphere a very good food. Interesting change from standard restaurant entrees.
Nice ambience, bad food. Seafood was over cooked except for scallops that were squishy (if they even were real scallops).
I haven't tried anything outside of the Tapas but I'm sure its all good and the Sangria is amazing.
We had a great time. Most of the tapas we ordered were very good. One, however, seemed to be odd because it was cold. Something like mushrooms and artichokes and cheese on toast. We expected that one to be hot and thought it would be more tasty hot. Service was pretty good, average, but uninspiring.
Food was cold which is disappointing for Tapas which are normally served immediately after they are ready. Drinks were pretty good. We had fun despite but I probably would not return.
We love Solea, it's our favorite Tapas restaurant. Especially love the garlicky shrimp. So many tapas options to choose from. Great sangria as well!
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal selections of tapas We had two different shrimp dishes, artichokes, tenderloin, calamari, potatoes and soup. We ended with two desserts, carmelized bananas with pistachio's.
The tuna/shrimp ceviche was amazing and so were the short ribs.
Excellent food and always consistent.
Food was mediocre at best. When we asked waitress to please have two tepid empanadas reheated, her reply was "we don't usually take food from the table back into the kitchen". By the way--although the empanadas were somewhat warmer the second time around, they were not very good.
The food is very good but it was quite noisy. In addition to the other diners the music is quite loud although they did turn it down towards the end. Service was fine but not outstanding. Food came out ok but they were slow to ask about dessert/coffee at the end of the evening. Also, when our server took the food back to the kitchen which we wanted boxed to take home, she stacked other plates on top of the food we were taking home. That seemed odd.
I hadn't been to Solea in a while, and was pleased to see that the restaurant had expanded since my last visit. Food and wine were excellent, in particular the shrimp in garlic oil, the baked goat cheese in tomato sauce, and the grilled chicken breast in chile tomato sauce. Also, the tres leches cake was to die for. I was surprised that the restaurant has added a charge for each order of bread (about five small pieces), which the manager eventually waived. He explained that the cost was added to combat the restaurant's $20,000 annual loss due to wasted bread. I think a better option would be to add a bread charge to each check, and not refill bread until it is all consumed. Bread is essential to eating most tapas, so it was off-putting to see bread charged this way. My group also thought that service could have been more attentive.
Delicious as always! The Sangria was fantastic! Service great.
We really enjoyed the food. I started with the cerviche. It was good but I wish it was a little spicer. My husband started with the baked goat cheese in tomato basil sauce. It was delicious but not too heavy for an appetizer. I had the braised short rib and beef tenderloin with chimichurri sauce. Both meats were delicious and cooked perfect. My husband got the beef tendeloin and pork tenderloin with cabrales blue cheese and mushrooms. The pork tenderloin was so tender and delicious. We both got the tres leche cake. It was exceptional. Our server was Jerry and he was outstanding. We will definitely come back and try more dishes.
5 old friends love this place for variety of dishes to share. We took advantage of Dine Out Week for our dinner which was an even better value than usual. We shared collard greens, yummy Brazilian cheese balls, meatballs, rice and beans and porkloin and various seafood dishes with delicious sauces, and the pitcher of sangria, always a good choice. Tres leches cake is to die for, somehow we made room for several bites, along with the churros and chocolate sauce...and one person always get the flan. We will be back!
I forgot how much I love Solea! The food is fantastic, and the funky Mediterranean decor is cool. Our party of 5 people ordered 3 tapas each and shared -- it was more than enough food. It's a little pricey, as most tapas restaurants are, but worth it occasionally.
We were craving tapas, but it was 7:30 on a Saturday and our favorite spot was booked of course. We decided to try somewhere new, so we went to Solea. Parking was easy, it is much bigger inside than out, and we got a nice seat against the window. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria, which was delicious and noticed it happened to be Dine Out Boston and they had a special menu where we'd also save 8 dollars on our pitcher. We went for it, why not. We got 6 tapas between the two of us and a dessert. Half the tapas were good, half were inedible, luke warm or completely cold. You'd think our waiter would notice that we barely ate anything, but he was quick to run in and out (not faulting him I'm sure he was very busy). Not worth the money, won't be back.
