Over marathon weekend we ate at Solas twice! Food was delicious, loved the beer selection and waitstaff was very good! We did enjoy upstairs better as the music downstairs was so loud we weren't able to have a comfortable conversation. Upstairs the music was still energetic yet gave us the opportunity to have talk and hear each other. One of my favorite spots! I will be back and will highly recommend Solas to friends who will be in the Boston area!
Great meeting place downtown. Good food, great service, up eat and comfortable. Definitely a great memory for my family.
Love the Guinness onion soup. I enjoy this little Irish spot and it has a fun ambience. Small so make a reservation if you’re a group! But it’s also super fun to pack in at the bar!
Reliable comfort food. Great taste. The fish and chips was fresh and flavorful. Definitely would come back.
Entree salads and BLAT were delicious. Service was attentive.
Solas was a very welcome stop following a harrowing trip through the Nor'easter that pounded the East Coast. The pub has traditional ambiance that made us feel right at home. Our server, Mallory, was incredible!!! Friendly and cheerful, she made us feel very comfortable and welcome. Our meal was great. The clam chowder was especially delicious. There's a lot of competition in Boston for the best clam chowder, and I've had a chance to sample a lot of them. Solas' chowder is among the best. The short rib is tender and the crema delicious. The chicken pot pie was perfect for a stormy night . . . very homey and warm. The fish and chips are flaky, tasty and not greasy. We look forward to our next stop in Boston and Solas.
Attentive staff—Great food—-perfect Guinness!
We have always had great food & outstanding service at Solas. We visit Silas a few times a year but try to make annual visit New Years before the family fireworks on the Boston Common. Great place for families or adult night out. Highly recommend trying Silas!
Mid-week dining @ 6:45pm found the downstairs bar area buzzing with patrons. The upstairs dining area is quieter and more suitable for dining with friends since conversation is easier. The menu has some wonderful "comfort foods" such as short ribs, mac and cheese, and a superlative chicken pot pie with a couple inches of puff pastry stacked on top( my favorite). Great location on Boylston Street a block from the Public Library and similarly close to the Prudential Center shops.
Chicken BLAT is the go-to here
Best chicken fingers in Boston
Love the fish tacos and salmon dish also. Highly recommend if your shopping at Lord and Taylor’s to grab lunch there.
We were looking for a last minute spot on a Friday night and Solas popped up on Open Table. We had walk by this dozens of times and were happy to give it a try. It was a great experience. The bar is cozy and the service and the food were both great. As a gluten-free diner, I was thrilled with the choices too. Great little find--will definitely eat here again soon!
Excellent food. Try the beef ribs and clam chowder. Our waitress knew what she was doing. It’s not an environment for an intimate conversation though because of how loud the music is.
Fish and chips all tasted the same, as if cooked in the same oil simultaneously. Fish batter had NO flavor at all. The French onion soup was okay.
Remarkable clam chowder in a highly competitive environment, and the “blat,” though essentially a sandwich, needs a much more elevated classification. Tender, moist grilled chicken on a toasted but soft ciabatta wth lettuce, bacon, chipotle mayonnaise. Exquisite. Service by Kevin was outstanding and wonderfully personable.
Fun and good food.
This was my second time to Solas. The first time had been with family members, so when I was in Boston on business, I thought this would be a good place for a casual meal with business teammates. I was not disappointed. The food was great as was the atmosphere. I was glad I had reserved a table for a Sat evening as the place was "hopping" when we got there. Would definitely go back again.
Nothing too fancy or special, food was decent and service was good. Good selection of beers.
Went to the Lenox hotel "city table" restaurant the day before for brunch and returned but it was closed for weekday lunchtime. Solas offered the same lovely service, high chair and coloring book for toddler. Grilled fish was good. Satisfied lunch cravings.
Great spot for quick good meal. Great beers too! Came here last year and came back again during the Head of the Charles for their Clam Chowder!
Attentive server, a lot of food, food very good!
We are from Australia and were looking for a nice local spot. This was it. Great food. Good service and great staff. Would go here again if our stay was longer.
The fries with curry sauce were delish. Good chicken pot pie and shepherd's pie too. Bathroom is inconvenient, all the way in hotel next door.
Value for money, service excellent, highly recommend to my friends
Four of us stopped at Solas, which is part of the Lenox Hotel, before a Red Sox game. It was an unusually warm September evening and we were able to nab a table outdoors. Aside from the noise coming from Boylston Street, we were able to have a decent conversation without yelling.
The food was actually delicious. Two of us got the BLAT, (grilled chicken breast, bacon, lettuce, smashed avocado, tomato & chipotle mayo on parmesan focaccia), minus the bacon. The chicken was cooked perfectly and not at all dry like chicken breast can get. The combination of the chipotle mayo and smashed avocado was so tasty, as was the focaccia roll. One person got the turkey burger which he deemed very good, and the other got chicken tenders and fries.
Service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and pleasant without being overbearing. Restrooms are in the lobby of the hotel and are spotless. This is a good stop before the baseball game, and far enough away so that it's not packed and loud like some of the places closer to Fenway Park. There is noise from traffic on Boylston Street (trucks, sirens, etc.) and lots of people walking by, and one young man with a skateboard asked if we were done with our fries, but it didn't really take away from our enjoyable experience. Next time I will check out dining inside. I definitely recommend.
Fantastic evening with great Irish fare.
Service was attentive.
I would suggest beer and appetizers instead of entrées. The shepherds pie was watery, lacking vegetables, and did not have enough mashed potatoes. The Mac and cheese was lacking flavor.
Food was better than I remembered, always love the classy Irish feel here.
We sat at a street side table and enjoyed a fabulous meal. Our waitress was attentive without hovering. She made great recommendations. The Irish Meatloaf was absolutely amazing - so flavorful and delicious. Brussels sprouts combined with great mashed potatoes rounded out the meal. Can't wait to go back to Solas!
Came to this place for the gluten free options on the menu, but was very disappointed in the food. This place is nothing more than just another irish bar in a hotel that charges too much for what you are getting.
We has great service and good food. I was glad we got there early. It got very noisy after 9pm.

Good food, good service, nice atmosphere. Be prepared for it to be a bit noisy!
Great food for the price and awesome bar area with tvs for sports events. Amazing service!
The food was amazing even though the space upstairs is ok.
Our waitress Gopi was phenomenal.
Good food, fun atmosphere . Would definitely recommend it!
The pretzel app was awesome, great lobster mac and cheese! Nice warm comfort food for a cold rainy night!
I'm a repeat customer. I love the location and atmosphere and recently they have given the restaurant a fresh update with lighter wall and ceiling paint and refinish lighter hardwood floors.
We never got our appetizer, they completely forgot our order. Broccoli was burned, so was the salmon. Kids were hungry so they ate it anyway. So disappointed, we had been here before--probably won't go back.
Overall atmosphere was above average and food was exceptional however the service was sub par
