The food was tasty although the items we wanted to order were sold out for the night so we had to go with out second choice.
Ambiance could have been a little bit better. Service was okay. Our waiter checked on us constantly to see if we needed anything else. The pumpkin spice cream brûlée was amazing! We’ll be back soon.
Given the high ratings for this restaurant at OpenTable and the appealing Restaurant Week menu, we decided to try them. We’re always looking for a nice restaurant close to home.
We didn’t realize this restaurant was located just off the lobby of a large upscale hotel. The lobby is vacuous. The ceiling is very high so the open dining area was brightly lit, a little echoing and completely the opposite of cozy. The food, however, was very good, especially the main courses we chose ( flat iron steak with a rich Demi-glacé like sauce and jumbo shrimp curry). The appetizers were good, not exceptional (seafood chowder, pork spring rolls). All portions were generous. The desserts were okay ( chocolate cake, White chocolate mouse, pumpkin spice creme brûlée).
Service was very good, friendly but I wish the server didn’t come around quite so often. Maybe it was because we ate early and there weren’t many other patrons there.
Overall, we had a pleasant and surprisingly tasty meal. If the ambience was better, I would have rated this restaurant higher.
Open floor plan, the hotel lobby bleeds into the restaurant. Feels like a cafeteria which is fitting to the ambiance of the quality of food served. No clear "enterance" and feels ackward trying to figure out how to get seated.
Dinner was outstanding and would definitely go back. The wait person Sue double charged us and we didn’t notice until looking at credit card statement. After a few calls, Kamin, the manager straightened everything out.
I was surprised how good meal was! Staff are very friendly and attentive. Shining five star of course!
Food was excellent. Very impressed. I was very surprised.
Service was pretty good, but it was empty. The cocktail bar tender was “not available”, so I was told to get a different drink. Salmon was not very good, but the seafood chowder was wonderful. Probably won’t come back, but glad we tried it.
Restaurant is part of the Bellevue Hilton hotel. Open dining area with very impressive glass ceiling ... an atrium like feel.
We arrived at 7 PM and the place was deserted, although our wait staff told us it was very busy an hour ago. Location is somewhat out of the way from central Bellevue, so diners maybe limited to travelers and activity attendees. (Few other couples/group arrived a bit later.).
Service started kind of slow, as if we were there at an unusual time and why are you here? After a while, she did warm up a bit. Food, mmmm, not so much. My NY steak was very gristly and difficult to chew. My wife enjoyed her steak salad.
We may try Solarium again for lunch or dinner in the summer time to see what glass ceiling looks like under the sun light.
The season chowder was excellent but I didn't care for the Dungeness crab cakes
The food is fresh and not overdone or over seasoned, allowing appreciation of each ingredient. The service is attentive. The elegant atrium provides a relaxing ambience.
We have always had the most friendly servers at this restaurant. We typically go for brunch on Sundays or dinner during the week. The food is good and they change up the menu occasionally.
The restaurant is in the lobby of a hotel which is misleading on OpenTable. We were not aware of this until we got there and when we asked about our reservation, they had not set up any tables or even seemed aware that we made a reservation. The service was very slow even though we were one of the only tables in the "restaurant". Our server took about twenty minutes to get our drink order and another 20-30 mins to get our drinks to our table. We received our food about 5 minutes after we got our drinks. It was my birthday dinner and nothing special was offered, no dessert or anything like that. The food was good but everything else was disappointing.
This is a lightly staffed hotel lobby restaurant. At 1 on a Saturday we were one of 3 tables occupied. It took staff a couple of minutes to notice that they had new customers. Not bad, but not what we expected. Should’ve looked at a map and seen that it is in a Hilton.
What an experience. I had to find a server so we could be seated. Steaks were mis matched as my wife’s was grisly and mine perfect. Food was very good but we waited about 35 minutes to receive our meal and they were not that busy.
During breakfast there is open seating so my reservation want checked in. also the bar isn’t open so no bloody Mary’s
Windows of the hotel looked dirty and understaffed
Irina was great
Wished we had a better table instead of behind the half wall
Good value and food. Felt that buffet could be kept tidier. Lots of spills everywhere.
Overpriced for a hotel lobby that needs major updating. Food was pretty good for a buffet breakfast.
Food was good, but a $6 local wine costed us $40. Almost 700 percent markup is a bit much.
Very spendy but the quality and selection of food even the display was fantastic
Has always created a special Mother's Day experience for the whole family. We had 21 family members age 3 to 76 this year. Everyone felt special, found food they loved and enjoyed the warm friendly atmosphere.
This is the lobby of the Hilton Hotel. Nothing about it was good. I will not go back.
Terrible service - I went for the Easter buffet, and the staff treated me like it was a hassle to (a) order a glass of wine, (b) get new flatware when they took away my used flatware, (c) get the check. Also, the food, while fine, was nothing special for the price. I would not go again.
Ok for brunch but not great service. No one checked on us for beverages or anything else.
For such an event you'd think there would be signage for first timers directing you on how to get the Solarium - there were none. We had to ask members from a church on how to get to the restaurant. However when going up to the floor with the restaurant my first impression was "wow"! The view was lovely and I had high hopes for enjoying a nice Easter meal, until the hostess walked us into a conference room that was set up nice but was so secluded in a back corner. We felt some what out of place and neglected as there were no windows and no view. The waitress we has was nice and checked on us, but no one wanted to sit so far away. For the amount of money folks are paying at this restaurant you'd expect a little more, the food was just okay, but the service was nice.
Website directions and description do not clarify that this us a Hilton Hotel lobby restautant. We drove in circles looking for the restaurant and saw no exterior signage. The seating is in open space in the lobby. But the food quality was excellent! Salmon was done oerfectly.
Surprised to find it in a hotel with no outside signage. So much better food than I ever expect at a hotel! We both enjoyed our courses and felt it was a good value.
Really good food, great service, and nice quiet atmosphere perfect for an intimate date.
Server named Kelly K. charged my card incorrectly 3 times (2 checks that did not belong to me). She did not voluntarily admit the error...I receive an alert each time my American Express card is charged, thankfully, and knew the error had been made before she came back to my table. When she came to present me with my check, she said nothing until I raised the concern. I told her mistakes happen but also told her the right thing to do would have been to let me know she made the error. I asked for her to bring me proof that erroneous charges had been cancelled. When she returned to the table she handed me not one but two slips stapled together that were unrelated to my dinner or my american express which simply displayed a zero $0.00 total. No table number, no check number, no indication of a charge reversal, no connection to my american express, hoping that I again wouldn’t notice? I again called her out and said this was not acceptable. Several minutes later another server came to my table to apologize on behalf of our server, which was nice but didn’t solve the issue. Meanwhile our server never came back and instead began to serve the table right next to us. She was clearly embarrassed I assume and did not know how to handle this situation. Obviously this problem could have easily been avoided had she taken more care when swiping someones credit card, or at the very least admitted to her mistake instead of hoping I would not notice. I left her an 18% tip in cash this time, since I didn’t want to risk her using my card again. Considering the situation I just described, someone else probably wouldn’t have left her anything. The way some families travel these days, some using their debit cards, an over authorization could really put a hamper on their plans. Thankfully this was not the case for me. I’m very disappointed, especially considering I was sitting in a @hilton hotel, a leader in hospitality. I will have to find somewhere else to dine this evening.
Great Sunday brunch. The staff is very friendly and efficient.
Lunch was fantastic! The Kung Pao Cauliflower was amazing. Compliments to the chef! Service was fast and food was great.
Great place to come for after church brunch. The staff are always helpful and friendly.
We were not acknowledged when we arrived and had to find someone and ask to be seated. We were a table of 5 with reservations ahead of time. The staff were nice, but slow, maybe they were short-staffed. It didn't seem like it as there were only a couple of tables to serve. We asked for a dessert menu at the beginning of our meal but did not receive one and had to ask again near the end of our meal. The salad greens were fresh and the dressing was light and didn't drown the greens. There were crab shells in the crab cakes, which they did apologize for and offered to bring something else. The ravioli filling was flavorful but the pasta was overcooked to the point of being hard to chew. The fillet mignon was cooked perfectly though, and my mom loved the sauce. We has to get up and find someone to clear our table and bring the desserts ordered. Overall, the experience was disappointing.
They need to work on quality control, we first got a cup with hot water for tea with lipstick so super-dirty! After that, our sale had plastic wrapping right on top of it. We were expecting an apology and a discount due to the dirtiness and plastic in the food but they gave us the full price check. I won’t be returning regardless if they change the name of the place from Basil’s to Solarium or whatever.
Reservation was for Basil Bistro but upon entering the Hilton Hotel, we were informed that the name changed and the menu offerings were new. We decided to stay and sample the new menu. We were not disappointed. All of the ingredients are local and fresh. We had the Claim chowder which is right up with the top 10 we have tasted. I had the Chinook Salmon and my wife had the clams. Paired it with a local beer and wine and this was a very nice dining experience. There is audible noise from the Hilton itself with the foot traffic but not enough to spoil our experience.
Thanksgiving Buffet was perfect!
We were looking for a straight up, straight on Turkey dinner for Thanksgiving. No herb crusted fancy, flair food - yet flavorful. At Basil's Bistro we found it.
Carved turkey, ham + roast beef with flavorful gravy + au jus that was clearly made from the drippings (vs processed goo.) Then there was salmon, a selection of salads and vegetables and delicious vegatarian ravioli with mushrooms.
And the dessert buffet tables... Lots of chocolate as well as an assortment of pies + cheesecakes. Heaven!
All at a very reasonable price with sparkling service. We will be back again!
We were six adults over 60. This was the perfect venue for a Thanksgiving dinner-- we were in a quiet side room with several other tables, but they didn't pack all the tables, so movement about and noise were both very manageable. The range of food on the buffet was amazing, and all very tasty. The dessert buffet was too much... one loses one's appetite with that many sweets, all in various conditions after guests have attacked them. It was the biggest downside to the meal.
The staff were all very accommodating, but they seemed so tired... one wonders if they are remunerated adequately for their work
Granted this was a buffet, but the ham was dry, there was no gravy for the turkey and the pecan pie was very runny. We were seated in a bright ballroom down a long hallway. the food wasn't bad, but not worth a return visit.
