Really good food, great service, and nice quiet atmosphere perfect for an intimate date.
Server named Kelly K. charged my card incorrectly 3 times (2 checks that did not belong to me). She did not voluntarily admit the error...I receive an alert each time my American Express card is charged, thankfully, and knew the error had been made before she came back to my table. When she came to present me with my check, she said nothing until I raised the concern. I told her mistakes happen but also told her the right thing to do would have been to let me know she made the error. I asked for her to bring me proof that erroneous charges had been cancelled. When she returned to the table she handed me not one but two slips stapled together that were unrelated to my dinner or my american express which simply displayed a zero $0.00 total. No table number, no check number, no indication of a charge reversal, no connection to my american express, hoping that I again wouldn’t notice? I again called her out and said this was not acceptable. Several minutes later another server came to my table to apologize on behalf of our server, which was nice but didn’t solve the issue. Meanwhile our server never came back and instead began to serve the table right next to us. She was clearly embarrassed I assume and did not know how to handle this situation. Obviously this problem could have easily been avoided had she taken more care when swiping someones credit card, or at the very least admitted to her mistake instead of hoping I would not notice. I left her an 18% tip in cash this time, since I didn’t want to risk her using my card again. Considering the situation I just described, someone else probably wouldn’t have left her anything. The way some families travel these days, some using their debit cards, an over authorization could really put a hamper on their plans. Thankfully this was not the case for me. I’m very disappointed, especially considering I was sitting in a @hilton hotel, a leader in hospitality. I will have to find somewhere else to dine this evening.

We were not acknowledged when we arrived and had to find someone and ask to be seated. We were a table of 5 with reservations ahead of time. The staff were nice, but slow, maybe they were short-staffed. It didn't seem like it as there were only a couple of tables to serve. We asked for a dessert menu at the beginning of our meal but did not receive one and had to ask again near the end of our meal. The salad greens were fresh and the dressing was light and didn't drown the greens. There were crab shells in the crab cakes, which they did apologize for and offered to bring something else. The ravioli filling was flavorful but the pasta was overcooked to the point of being hard to chew. The fillet mignon was cooked perfectly though, and my mom loved the sauce. We has to get up and find someone to clear our table and bring the desserts ordered. Overall, the experience was disappointing.
They need to work on quality control, we first got a cup with hot water for tea with lipstick so super-dirty! After that, our sale had plastic wrapping right on top of it. We were expecting an apology and a discount due to the dirtiness and plastic in the food but they gave us the full price check. I won’t be returning regardless if they change the name of the place from Basil’s to Solarium or whatever.
Reservation was for Basil Bistro but upon entering the Hilton Hotel, we were informed that the name changed and the menu offerings were new. We decided to stay and sample the new menu. We were not disappointed. All of the ingredients are local and fresh. We had the Claim chowder which is right up with the top 10 we have tasted. I had the Chinook Salmon and my wife had the clams. Paired it with a local beer and wine and this was a very nice dining experience. There is audible noise from the Hilton itself with the foot traffic but not enough to spoil our experience.
Thanksgiving Buffet was perfect!
We were looking for a straight up, straight on Turkey dinner for Thanksgiving. No herb crusted fancy, flair food - yet flavorful. At Basil's Bistro we found it.
Carved turkey, ham + roast beef with flavorful gravy + au jus that was clearly made from the drippings (vs processed goo.) Then there was salmon, a selection of salads and vegetables and delicious vegatarian ravioli with mushrooms.
And the dessert buffet tables... Lots of chocolate as well as an assortment of pies + cheesecakes. Heaven!
All at a very reasonable price with sparkling service. We will be back again!
We were six adults over 60. This was the perfect venue for a Thanksgiving dinner-- we were in a quiet side room with several other tables, but they didn't pack all the tables, so movement about and noise were both very manageable. The range of food on the buffet was amazing, and all very tasty. The dessert buffet was too much... one loses one's appetite with that many sweets, all in various conditions after guests have attacked them. It was the biggest downside to the meal.
The staff were all very accommodating, but they seemed so tired... one wonders if they are remunerated adequately for their work
Granted this was a buffet, but the ham was dry, there was no gravy for the turkey and the pecan pie was very runny. We were seated in a bright ballroom down a long hallway. the food wasn't bad, but not worth a return visit.
Came here for thanksgiving buffet. Great atmosphere with live music on the piano. Linen Table cloths, cloth napkins, and very attentive servers.
We liked it so much we came back later during our stay in Seattle.

We were very satisfied and found this experience was the Better Alternative over buying groceries and preparing our Thanksgiving meal ourselves; we found the quality, variations, tastes, selections and overall price outstanding enough for a repeat performance and a standing ovation!!!
We ate here for the Thanksgiving buffet. There was an extremely wide choice of dishes. We appreciated that every offering was labeled with the food's name and if it was vegetarian, vegan, etc. For large quantity cooking, all of the food was well prepared and kept as hot or cold as possible. The kitchen and service staff kept the buffet well supplied i.e. no empty serving containers waiting to be refilled. The service staff was very professional, attentive and pleasant.
Basil's was very nice overall. My food was just okay in my estimation, but my boyfriend LOVED his food. The service was wonderful, but the atmosphere was just alright as you are essentially dining in the hotel lobby. It was great for people watching though.
Great food! We would come back again for sure! The server was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was VERY quiet, like we felt a little awkward talking above a whisper or even clinking silverware or anything. But the food was delicious, definitely worth a visit!

Went to Basil's Bistro during Seattle Restaurant Week. Absolutely delicious food and the waitress was delightful. The steak and salmon were superb!
The food was ok. The knife they gave me for the steak didn't cut and when I asked for a steak knife I was informed it was one. We were there for restaurant week and although the dessert was ordered at the same time as the entree it didn't come out until more then 20 min after we had finished our meal.
Pleasant enough, but nothing special. Ambiance is everything and the ambience was below average for us. Service was lovely though.
Came for Seattle restaurant week. We arrived & our table wasn't ready, the server said they don't do swr on a Sunday. What!!! I rsvp & it was confirmed for Sunday the 21/2018 for a party of 8. So we had to pull tables together. We sat down & they told us some food on the menu is limited. There was only 2 steaks left. Anyways we ordered our food. I got the second steak & I said medium rare, it came out cooked. The mash potatoes was so salty I didn't eat it. Sorry out of all Seattle restaurant week this one is my least likable. I see why it only has 2 stars. Usually I don't like giving bad reviews.
was surprised by the good reviews for Basil's. this is in the lobby of the hotel, and used to be really good. maybe it still is when busier, like brunch? Everything sounded great, but was just so-so. we were there at dinner time on a Saturday night and basically had the restaurant to ourselves. Our server was enthusiastic and attentive so we did tip well. Not her fault the food was mediocre.

Never too crowded
I had a grilled lamb and soup and salad for lunch. Lamb was so delicious! Waiter and waitress are excellent and friendly. Free parking is a plus at down town Bellevue. I’ll use this restaurant again.

We had to wait a long time to be seated and was told to sit wherever we like since the restaurant was quite empty. We were told that the restaurant is under new management and no longer accepts the discount voucher from open table. Food was okay.
new menu was a pleasant surprise. We didnt have high expectations based on earlier reviews but was surprised to see a new menu and food was quite good. It's a hotel lobby restaurant, so it's open space and lots people walking and in around the lobby. Wouldn't suggest for a romantic date
Came for Seattle Restaurant Week. Ahi Tuna was great, as were the crab cakes. Salmon was fairly mediocre for the price. Got the crème brulee for desert but it was more like a custard. Perhaps they forgot to fire the top? Was definitely NOT what I'd consider Crème Brulee.
Unfortunately the service was BEYOND SLOW. There were perhaps only 5-6 other tables seated, with multiple waiters so I would hate to see if when it was full! One person in our party could only stay for 20 min and was planning to get just a drink. After about 10 minutes of waiting, she had to cancel it. It should not take more than 10 minutes to make someone a drink. I had to take the check up to the counter to pay, after waiting for almost 10 minutes for someone to come collect the check. Due to service alone, I would not return in the future.
The crab cakes were so salty that caused me drinking two glasses of water in 5 minutes. After two bites, I was not able to finish the entree. When the waitress came and asked me how I liked the food, I told her it was very salty. Another waiter came and offered to give me something else in exchange. I really didn’t want anything else; I need to drink a lot of water! I would say, anyone who has hypertension needs to stay away from this restaurant. I know I would not go back. My health is more important. I drank more water afterwards. Good grief.
I chose Basil's for a lunch with my mother. We couldn't find anyone who appeared to work in the restaurant so we approached the hotel front desk. They said to take a seat anywhere and someone would be with us. The first three tables we tired to sit at were dirty, with leftover food spills, crumbs, hairs and trash, even though they were set for lunch service.
After waiting for 10 minutes at a different table, we still hadn't had anyone acknowledge us, let alone ask if we wanted to order, so we left. I will not be back.
Very disappointing, the atmosphere was poor, the restaurant was in the lobby of the hotel and was not well designed. The food was not very good and way overpriced.
Our server said that they did not have the system setup for open table reservations. Which was very strange since I made the reservation on my app for the location. Despite that, the food was rather expensive considering that it is a hotel bar among so many in the area. There ius no happy hour. Another bad point. So we ended up ordering a charcuterie plate. It seemed to be the best value for the money. It was not the largest that I've seen, but for the price it made the most sense. Other than that it was an okay place to meet someone in a pinch.

Hard not to conclude that either they are scamming Open Table,
Open Table using their members and marketing to try to regain the client despite knowing they were no longer honoring the OT reservations. (Or maybe Hilton since restaurant is in their Hotel.
Which is it? Not good to feel used
