Solare Ristorante Lounge Ratings and Reviews
One of our favorite restaurants, the food and service are always outstanding! Delighted to see they've made their lasagna with bolognese sauce a permanent listing on their menu. We celebrate our wedding anniversary there every year, as they did such a fabulous job hosting our wedding reception in their private dining room.
This is my second visit and I enjoyed the food and experience so much that I’m return next week! The smoked salmon fettuccine had a Smokey creamy balance that I just loved and my son enjoyed the classic sphagetti with meatballs. My husband had a different fish dish but ate it so fast I don’t recall what it was... but he loved it!
Have been to Solare many times and I have never been disappointed. This time we had a group of 12 and the service was superb. This is my go to restaurant for any occasion. The chefs menu is the best in San Diego, everything is fresh and you will not be disappointed.
Everything was excellent here from the atmosphere to the delicious salad, calamari and pasta dishes. Noise level is a little distracting. Loved our waiter, but can't remember his name. He has the best laugh! Reminded us of Robin Williams. Will definitely return and recommend.
quite possibly one of the most civilized lunches to be found in SD. thanx to chef Accursio Lota for training his kitchen staff to fill his shoes when he's not in house. swordfish special over lentils and artichokes was superb and perfectly prepared. Tommy would be proud. Kudos to excellent service by Taylor and much appreciation for allowing us to have an intimate family reunion in the private wine room.
The food was absolutely delicious, the service by Shana exemplary, and the atmosphere inviting. The lamb chop special of the day makes my mouth water just remembering it. The portion was generous. They were prepared to expertly. My husband’s bouillabaisse was equally well prepared. The other couple were pleased with their spinach raviolis. I can’t wait for the next visit.
We celebrated Christmas Eve at Solare . It was our first time and was a very enjoyable experience. We had a cocktail at the bar while waiting for our table. The team at the bar were great mixologists and made some tasty drinks neither of us had enjoyed before. Dinner was awesome from appetizer to desert. A wonderful experience. Looking forward to going back .
Let me start saying that at Solare I had the best "pasta" dish (it was gnocchi al pesto trapanese) since I moved to San Diego 7 years ago from Milano, Italy.
It was OUTSTANDING, the flavor the presentation, the size, really wow, congrats to chef Accursio.
The reason I don't give 5 stars is only because of the Pizza, which didn't make sense to me... if you do a great contemporary Italian restaurant (when it comes to food), why serving also pizza, especially if it's not done the right way? In Italy good restaurants used to serve pizza a decade ago, now they specialize in a type of cuisine and leave pizza to the good pizzerie.
Other than that, really amazing food, and perfect service!
Great wine list as well!
I'll be back for dinner and I recommend it to everyone
Went to Solaré to celebrate my husband’s birthday on a Tuesday night. They put the 5 of us at a table in the corner of the bar dining area, which did not have a very good atmosphere, even though there seemed to be plenty of other nice tables in the main dining room that were available. The waiter showed up, told us his name (Francois), and proceeded to disappear for quite a while, never having asked us if we’d like to order drinks. When he came back, he took out his pad and pen and said “are you ready to order?” We told him we wanted to order cocktails, and he almost seemed surprised by the idea. When he finally brought us our drinks, he once again asked “are you ready to order?” We said we wanted to start with appetizers, and once again, he seemed perplexed. He then AGAIN asked us to order dinner, as if he couldn’t wait for us to order, eat, and leave. All five of us ordered something different on the menu, and they were all VERY good, which was the only highlight of the evening. We spent almost $300 dollars for 5 of us to eat. Although the food was delicious, it was not worth the money for being stuck in the corner and having poor service and rudeness. A little bit of friendliness and personality goes a long way. We will NOT be returning to Solaré, nor will we recommend this restaurant.
Lots of potential that unfortunately didn’t deliver on this occasion. The service was ok but food delivery was slow. Waiting staff were ok if not a little erratic at times forgetting cutlery, drinks and bread orders My wife had the fish stew which was very good and I had the Special Raviolini that turned up cold and for $27 was not a good value main course. I would have normally complained but the restaurant seemed short staffed to cope with the number of covers and so saw little point as I tend to just vote with my feet. We were looking forward to our dinner date as there is a lot of hype around Solare but it didn’t meet the price tag that we paid.
Dinner was totally delightful. Tasty food, beautiful ambiance, good service. But we learned something VERY impressive...the chef competed with 14 others recently in Europe and won the title of best pasta chef (in the world!). I tried the traditional lasagna, and it was very good, but we both want to go back to try some more of his pasta. He was also just voted the best chef in San Diego in San Diego Magazine...A hidden gem here.
Another lovely meal. Great menu choices and the dishes we picked were delicious. This is a restaurant that we have visited many times in the past few years and they remain a favorite. Tonight we shared the Fritti Misti, the Eggplant Timbale and a weekly special house made macaroni with a four meat sauce. Excellent!
My borrowed and I came to Solare to celebrate our anniversary. After telling the hostess this, we were congratulated by the waiter, and he brought us a very delicious fruity drink to celebrate. The entire night was very enjoyable, good food, and very friendly service. The only think i would recommend would be some nice music to play while we ate. There could have been music playing while we were there but I don't remember hearing any. Either way, very good service and tasty food. Special thanks to Mark.
Been to Solare several times and am never disappointed. We both had the fish special - sea bass in a tomato sauce, encrusted with pistachios and olives on a bed of smashed potatos and spinach. Everything was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The waiter was professional and helpful. Definitely a great date-night venue.
Long story short, our party of 6 arrived on time but no food showed up at our table, not even bread, for nearly an hour, and only then because I kicked up a big fuss. We were told they were unexpectedly busy but there were many empty tables. They apologized and comped some appetizers, but overall it was a poor experience with Solare Ristorante Lounge. Why bother going out to a restaurant if you have to fight to be served.
Solare was a great Open Table find. It was also further confirmation that a restaurant where the owner is hands-on is usually a great experience...clearly there's care for the patrons, food and experience. The wine list is extensive, the food was excellent as was the service.
