Solare Ristorante Lounge
Loved this restaurant!! We sat at the patio area. Lovely inside and outside. Good menu choices and appreciate the explanations when we had questions. Great service (Joseph) and the Owner was also visiting and ck'g in on customers. Our meal was timely, perfect and delicious! Wine could have been a bit more on the pour, but was a nice selection recommended. We'll definitely consider returning whenever we are in town!
I came here with a group of 9 friends to celebrate my birthday. Dinner started well with our waiter going over the menu with us. The food was good but not great. I had Risotto with Prawns. It was ok. The pizza was delicious. The service was poor because of how slow it was. After dinner, we had to wait longer that we’d like for the waiter to take our dessert orders. Several in our group ordered espresso and that took about 15 minutes. Then we waited another 15 minutes for our check. Then we waited another 15 minutes to give the waiter our cards to pay. Often we were just sitting and waiting for the waiter.
Needs a little redo to interior. It is dark dreary and outdated. But food was great!
Great staff, great service. Perfect place for our lunch meeting. I highly recommend Solare!
There is such a thing as a water or waitress being “too attentive”. Ideally, they should discern the vi e at the table and act accordi gly. Sometimes the best idea is to “let ‘em talk”
Lunch here today was excellent - server Maria was great. The eggplant soup was really good; my friend's pasta was as well. I love this gem of a restaurant, so good and you can actually carry on a conversation. Highly recommend
Perfect service, perfect food. Absolutely coming here again.
We have dined here many times and always consistent food and service. One of my favorite restaurants in Liberty Station - in fact in all of Point Loma San Diego. The wine list is excellent and the specials are always outstanding.
The staff is the most friendly and accommodating that we have ever experienced..
My second time here with my husband. This is our new favorite date night spot. Amazing services, delicious food and very affordable and beautiful. It real is a jewel in Point Loma.
Loved it! Fantastic vibe and excellent food.
It was pretty mediocre. The waiters need to learn about timing when approaching a table to ask if everything is ok. The osso buco was tough and everything was too salty. Sorry to be so negative but that’s honestly what I thought
wonderful staff..backroom is great for hosting events very attentive staff
If you are led to try this restaurant based on their website touting many gluten free options like we were, then take note! Yes they have gf pizza crust, and naturally gf entrees like fish, chicken typical at most every restaurant. But when it comes to the gf pasta, they can’t serve it with any sauce...we were told this is because it isn’t made in-house so they can’t verify the ingredients! What Italian restaurant doesn't make their own marinara or bolognese...apparently this one. So the gf pasta was made with olive oil and garlic, very bland with no real fresh vegetables available...not good. Oh, and if you see on their website they serve “homemade gf bread”.... well this is basically hard, overly toasted pizza crust...$5 for two tiny pieces. To make matters worse, they are located directly under the flight path, and kept the doors wide open so any chance of ambiance or peaceful conversation was killed by jet noise. The only positive was our server...but we all wished we had just gone to Bencotto or North Italia.
Wonderful food, great twists on everyday dishes, great wine list and a pistachio brûlée that is to die for!!
Server was very attentive, additional servers almost too attentive. Food was good not spectacular, somewhat overpriced. Loved the Homemade Orange Cello - that was outstanding
Cosy restaurant with good ambience and good food. Great wine list
we hade a nice dinner in Solare!!
the little one liked her gluten-free Pizza very much!! Very good restaurant especially for celiac people!!
It was good, not great. Had high expectations since tried their tasting at the ‘Best of’ parties the last couple years and really good. But the overall experience didn’t meet those expectations unfortunately.
Went for Restaurant week, their menu was different and I couldn't wait to try. My husband went for the safe, comfortable items while I went for the more adventurous ones. While his choices were really good and as expected (lobster bisque and fettuccine pasta and white sauce) mine were too over the top and not great as I wished, the steak tar tar was too strong of pepper taste and the fish was completely over cooked and flavorless . The desert was a lavender panna cotta, which was very strong in taste, my husband did not like and while I did enjoy the taste, I did have a bit of an allergic reaction but I am unaware of what exactly it was which is kind of alarming. Next time I'll just stick to what I know I'll like. The service and ambiance were great. I would definitely try again, maybe their
We went to Solare for Restaurant Week. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a beautiful evening. The food was spectacular. The Octopus appetizer, and Lobster bisque were both wonderful. I had the fettuccine wrapped in cucumber. with Shrimp. So good. My wife had the ravioli. Excellent. Many restaurants skimp on the Restaurant week offerings, but not Solare. Portions were the regular size. And Solare's wines are first rate. They have the most knowledgeable staff, offering personal recommendations, and often knowing the vintners personally.
Great pasta and cocktails, 3 course SD Restaurant Week Menu offered great options. Fantastic wine selection.
Great venue at Liberty Station. Adequate parking nearby. Wonderful fresh food.
I was really hoping to like Solare after hearing great things. I wanted to like it, but alas the food I ordered, while beautiful just did not taste great to my palate. For the price I paid, it is hard for me to want to go back. My husband enjoyed his food, but felt the value was just not there. Also, our wine glasses sat empty a little too long when the main course arrived.
Very disappointing. We were there for restaurant week, but we will not do that again. The food was unremarkable and expensive for what we received, the beverages were expensive, the noise level was outrageous (one member of our party had to go outside and wait for us because of the noise) and, despite there being plenty of open tables when we arrived for our reservation at 5:30 pm, they sat us at a table that was next to their supply station, which added both to the noise and the distraction. We won't be back.
The restaurant wasn't busy, but dinner took forever to be served. We each had the seafood pesto risotto. It was light on seafood. I love pesto, but this was the dullest tasting pesto I have ever had. The price was very high for such a poor quality dish. This was one of the few times at a restaurant that we did not want to take a box of leftovers to go. I will recommend the calamari appetizer, it was tasty and a handsome serving. The final turnoff was seeing the manager eating with her fingers at the bar and then going directly to tables to help serve people.
We love that little wine room and the chef's table also. We are actually thinking of going on one of their trips to restaurants in Italy or Mexico. Fun Place.
Great Italian food
Great dinner and nice atmosphere. The owner came out and greeted our table. Nice touch.
To be honest, a little disappointed. Heard really good things. It took nearly 20 minutes to get my first beer. Food was ok, not great. Risotto was severely under seasoned. Pasta was a little too done. Calamari plate was very nice. Maybe an off night.
Excellent venue and dinners for my colleagues and me, although I wish they would not serve the main course while we were still enjoying our appetizers.
Loved the special salad. The lamb was cooked perfectly. We ate at bar and service was excellent and friendly. Great old fashioneds and craft cocktails. Nice ambiance. A great evening. We will be back.
Excellent food and great ambience. Definitely a wonderful place to visit for a sit down dinner!
Overall not a bad experience. The service was great , the ambiance and atmosphere were also great. The food however was not . We had the fish of the day and the gnocchi. The fish was over cooked and dry . The vegetables with the fish were sautéed beyond recognition. The gnocchi was good but nothing memorable. The portions were small and the prices were high . I would not recommend but maybe we had an off night or not the right items.
Hands down the best Italian food you will experience in San Diego. The Calamari is a must if you are from the east coast, and the Risotto with scallops and black truffles are heavenly!
Excellent food and service. Loved the ambiance as well. We will definitely be coming back to dine.
Yummy fresh pasta. Great menu and weekly special. Staff fantastic!
Great find for a above average Italian restaurant. Bread was amazing! Owner is affiliated with a tequila company, so there are several cocktails with it on the menu. Pasta is made fresh daily and is recommended.
Solare never fails, the Chef is amazing and we always make an effort to try his specials because we know they are truly special! Service is superb and a special nod to Petra, the Manager who has an excellent knowledge of Italian wines. Wonderful evening!
Lovely evening in a cozy warm feeling dining room.
