Tiny place with delicious food and pleasant atmosphere. Good area go-to
Lovely staff but really quiet (Friday lunch) - literally the only two people inside. Opted for the set lunch and it was nice enough, unfortunately it did take a while to get through the courses so I can’t recommend for a work lunch if you need to get back to the office. I’d come back if I had 90 min for a break instead of an hour.
We went to the Beekman Street location. It is great for an intimate date night without huge bit of fanfare. Food was good at a reasonable price. BYOB if you want any alcohol.
Fresh delicious pasta. The venue is small. It’s BYOB, so you actually save money drinking your own wine(s). Definitely recommend
This place was lovely. Our waitress was a sweetheart. There was a huge party of 10 that she had to manage while also serving our party of 3 and another table so the service was slow but it was not for lack of effort. I got the squid ink pasta and it was delicious and spicy. I loved it and would get it again! The restaurant is byob which we did not know but will certainly take advantage of that next time!
Birthday dinner for a close friend. Great food and service. They even brought out a birthday dessert:-)
Really enjoyed lunch for two. Smart and modern setup and the food was excellent and worth the money. Good choice for casual lunch weekdays.
I saw great reviews on this place and was hoping they were legitimate and not from the workers or owners like a lot of restaurants. Turns out, the reviews didn’t do it justice. The place is a gem. It’s small, probably only about 20 seats but it’s phenomenal. All the food we had (crostino, scallops, truffle pasta, cannoli) were all on point: delicious and cooked perfectly. The wait staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and made you feel at home. I will be coming back here many times in the future.
for your information, it’s BYOB.
I had a really great experience at Sola Lab with my coworkers. The ambiance was lovely, and the food was amazing! We each got different pastas and shared the burrata crostinis and meat/cheese plate. Pasta was cooked perfectly--I highly recommend and can't wait to return!
service: waitstaff friendly and accommodating, somewhat understaffed for the groups at the time but guests were patient.
ambience: very tiny room with one communal table and several 'bar' seats that face the wall or two at the window. contemporary decor. somewhat uncomfortable and felt dark / confined.
drink: currently BYOB with no corkage, which is fine.
- salad was good, but had commercially available (snyders) honey mustard pretzel bits in it as the 'crouton' component. inventive, but a weird shortcut.
- bread: no oil or butter offered.
- pastas: lobster gnocchi good, sauce a bit too creamy / heavy and overpowered delicate lobster, which was meat fragments from leg.
- squid ink vongole pasta was ok, a bit gummy but good flavor with clams and tomato.
- branzino (fish of day) was actually cooked perfectly and crisply. side of fresh veggies.
for a party of three, we spent about 115 with tip. (2 pasta, one salad, 1 main)
we are glad we tried it as a neighborhood spot, and wish them success, but not sure we would go out of our way to return.
Absolutely returning. It's a very small restaurant with limited table seating. We had a party of 6 and had to share a table with a party of 4, but it was not an issue. The food was phenomenal. The daily specials that day were 3 different risotto dishes. We ordered 2 of the 3 and they did not disappoint. The host/waitress was kind, knowledgeable of the menu, and even gave us some background on the restaurant. She was super nice and engaging. The restaurant is BYOB, so we bought a bottle of wine and she was paid attention to when a refill was needed. Overall, a wonderful experience!
small setting with a communal table and on point service
It was an amazing experience. Ruth was so nice and make our experience even better. The food Spectacular!
Great food and attentive service with good explanations of the various dishes. We'll be back!
It was probably one of the best dinners of my life! The mix of Italian and Spanish cuisine created by the chef Simone Tiligna was absolutely amazing. But it wasn’t just about the food, everything about this place is unique and one of a kind. It’s about the size of a living room and very cozy. The minute you walk in, you immersed in the friendly family-like atmosphere. The setting and decor make you feel right at home. Ruth, our waitress was smart and funny, not to mention very helpful, informative and provided impeccable service. Thank you, guys, for the wonderful evening! We will be definitely coming back!
Charming micro restaurant
Only community table and shelf:stool seating
Wonderful staff and excellent, modestly priced food
No liquor license/BYO
On a shabby street near Seaport, so mostly tourists wander in
When they get their first good review, it will be jammed
They should improve AC, we were all hot
Food was great. Service was attentive when available but with 1 person serving everyone, it hurt the overall experience
Love this spot! I feel that the food is better at the soho location but this follows closely which makes it one of my favorite spots in the area. Currently they’re BYOB so very well priced as well. Comfy intimate setting and I love the play list.
Food was really delicious, and the small space is warm and welcoming. Wait time for main courses was unreasonable - came about 2 hours after we sat at the table.
Food is amazing as always!!!
I had a great experience at Sola Lab. The food was amazing--we had the crostino to start, the Spaghetti Neri Vongole and Mafalde al Cinghiale Affumicato as entrees, and the tiramisu for dessert--and everything was delicious and unique. Our waiter was very attentive and warm. The interior is very trendy, but we were there on a rainy Friday night when there was only one other party at the restaurant, so it was very quiet. I would have preferred more of a crowd, but I had a great experience overall.
We attended a birthday party so we were all seated at the big table in the middle which has room for 10 people. The salads were excellent and the pastas very, very good. We'd been there a few other times before and also tried their chicken and fish dishes but pasta's the way to go in this place. Service is always excellent and we actually like that we can BYOB (there's a liquor store around the corner on Nassau). It's our new favorite spot in the neighborhood!
Although they sadly do not even have a beer or wine license they make amazing pasta. Its a rare thing to find an Italian restaurant where you do not walk away thinking "I could make that" - Delicious !
Love this place!
Incredible meal, a great find. All 9f 7s had different meals and each was as good as the next. Superb service. Its a BYOB but wine store is a block away that has a terrific selection
Incredible food. Wonderful service. Excellent night. We were a party of 14... Basically the whole place, and they took great care of us. Also a great value as it's BYOB. Can't wait to go back.
Traditional authentic intimate
We felt s though the meal were being prepared t a friend's home for us lone. A bit too slow, though, otherwise a great, great dining experience for us and our guests from France.
Best experience! Very good food! Fabio was awesome!
Delicious food and great service. BYOB for now and Fabio texted to let us know before our reservation.
No detail has been overlooked in the modern Italian decor. Fantastic cacio and pepe, fresh delicious bruschetta with imported mozzarella, all served on a beautifully appointed table settings.
Perfect! Loved it
Second time here. Food is great. Tiny place with nice service and quiet enough to have a conversation
Had a nice lunch. The food was outstanding.
Oh so yummy! And excellent price for Prix fixe lunch
Our overall experience at this spot is usually great! That being said, we went out for dinner at Valentines Day and it turned out to be extremely frustrating and very disappointing. My wife had a few food restrictions and we were never informed they were serving a limited prix-fix menu. We were quite limited to the menu and tried to go around by ordering things she could eat. The dishes she had were quite tasteless as well as we were completely forgotten by the service, having waited 40 minutes from appetizers to first court which she had a salad without any dressing and unappetizing. From first course to second course another 40 minutes wait and when that already I obviously canceled the dessert because I was not really planning on waiting for another 40 minutes. And we paid the full bill! It’s going to be hard to ever come back to this place! SAD!
This spot is just incredibly underrated! The food is better than so many Michelin star restaurants I’ve eaten at. The service is great and prices extremely fair. Almost don’t wanna talk too much about it because I fear it’s going to get too popular.
Excellent lunch special! Clean authentic food, we will be back
Second visit, is becoming our go-to for the financial district and seaport areas of manhattan. Our friends from UES were impressed and said well worth the trip downtown!
Only bad thing about this place is it’s BYOB. Other than that- the perfect dining experience. The pasta & appetizers were perfect!!
I loved this little place! I had a wonderful kale salad with toasted quinoa, spaghetti, and an outstanding Americano, while sharing my friend's cheesecake (to die for). It has a workshop feel to it, but the table settings etc. are very nice, and the waitstaff is welcoming and polite. Hidden gem.
