Sol y Sombra has been Dundee’s most popular tapas bar since it opened in 2011. Born out of a love for Spanish food and culture, we have created a menu of fresh, authentic and simple tapas. The aim is to recreate the feel of a typical Spanish family meal, so everyone has to share and enjoy the meal as one.

We loved it! The staff went out of their way to ensure our group (one vegan, one vegetarian and one no fish, plus 2 ordinary diets) were all catered for. The food was delicious and plentiful and excellently cooked and presented.

The food and its presentation were fabulous. The staff were all very nice, however the whole experience was too rushed. Tapas should be a slow process with time to enjoy it, instead it was literally served at speed without a break. Cold tapas was followed by hot and then fish without the chance of a rest in between. It wasn't our first visit and won't be our last but hopefully next time I'll ask them to take their time.

First time back after year or so and still a lovely atmosphere and service was pleasant. Food we thought was nice but did notice other tables with slightly different dishes which for a set menu we couldn’t quite understand. However food was ok but nothing exceptional if honest. Sangria used to be special as used to be a special recipe but quite disappointing to find a jug of what seemed like ready made which was pretty much out of tap mix for £25, all in all it still provides a lovely experience however do feel it’s a bit on the expensive side for what it is including the food. Might be a while before we go back mainly due to not being great value for money just in our opinion.

It was our first visit at Sol Y Sombre & it won’t be our last. Everything was excellent. The food & the service especially. Great value for money too.

Went for lunch and we chose the set menu between two, food was absolutely amazing, our server was very knowledgable about the menus which is always a good plus for me. Service was prompt and efficient and all completed with a lovely smile. Highly recommend Sol y Sombra Tapas to others.

Absolutely brilliant, staff were super lovely, atmosphere was great, food was excellent. We are both vegan and I have an allergy to peppers and it wasn't an issue at all. Really recommend.

First time at this restaurant was impressed with staff very attentive. Food was lovely just a little to much for us. The sangria was also lovely. Would highly recommend a visit and we are looking forward to the next time.
