SOL Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar
SOL blends bold flavors of the Southwest with our own Southern culinary influences. We like to keep things fresh. With a focus on dishes that let seasonal ingredients and select spices shine. The real star of our kitchen is our wood fire grill, and all menu items—from sauces to salsas to handcrafted cocktails—start from scratch and are made to order. All tequilas are 100% agave, citrus fruits are juiced daily, and avocados aren’t cut until you order guacamole.
Had a party of 8 .... got stuffed into a large booth or was given another option that would have been tighter. Food was okay, not outstanding. The server was very nice, but there were a few times when she failed to come around to check on us.
Although the restaurant did not appear to be busy the service level was poor. After our entrees were delivered (the last entree approximately 3-5 minutes after the other 9) we did not see wait staff to follow up, refill drinks... Will not be in the rotation for dining options in Charleston.
Had a large party and our server was fantastic and accommodating. The food was also delicious!
Basically empty on a Saturday night. Ordered
Food was delicious! Staff very friendly and accommodating.
Over all not bad, but for for the money it could have been better.
Nice patio for a big group of 11 of us, quiet and we could talk. Food was excellent as were drinks!
Had lunch during restaurant week. Great value. Appetizers were delicious. Enchilada and grilled romaine salad outstanding as was steak quesadilla for me and grilled salman for my wife. Good service and very nice atmosphere.
Overall a good dining experience. Restaurant was nearly empty on a Tuesday evening at 6:45. We chose to sit outside with the good weather. Hostess took drink order quickly and informed of us specials.
We received our soda and ordered chips and salsa. The habanero salsa was excellent, while the tomatillo and House red salsa were decent. My colleague ordered the carnitas, which he really enjoyed, and I ordered the bison enchiladas. Unfortunately, I was brought chicken enchiladas first, which was quickly remedied, and I was able to take home the mistake plate for later. The bison enchiladas are definitely the way to go.
Overall, good meal. Was a solid choice for a change of pace if you want a respite before hammering more classic Charleston fare the rest of the week.
The experience was one of the worst that I have ever had. We went for lunch at 1:15. There were four tables active and two servers...one would think that this should be adequate.
However, these servers could only have been selected on the basis of their total indifference. It’s too bad because the room is very pretty and the food is alright. However, the service ruined the meal. Also, it seems odd that when businesspeople are eating lunch in the middle of the day, the management would choose to play dance party music at an ear splitting decibel level that made conversation difficult.
All in all, a truly horrendous experience.
Great food and experience! Our server was odd and kept saying she was tired and needed a break. Everything else was perfect!
I can’t believe we left the dog in the hotel for this. We had a reservation for 6pm. Apparently we didn’t need one, since there were only 4 other parties in the restaurant. We arrived a few minutes early and were shown to our table. We ordered. The Pinot Grigio they brought me tasted like it had been opened two days ago. We ordered entrees. And we waited. And waited. And waited. We watched others who came in after us receive their food before us. No one came to check on us. After an hour, our faux earnest waitress came by and made some lame and unbelievable excuses about low staffing being to blame for the inexcusable delay in our service. Our food came another 15 minutes later. And my gosh, the mediocrity. The beans and rice accompanying our entrees tasted like it had been under a heat lamp for more than the 75 minutes it took us to get our food. But the sangria was good. Bottom line: no. Just no.
The occasion was an end of summer social among co-workers to recap the interns’ experience as well as check in on how things are going with new hires. Everyone really enjoyed their food and experience at SOL.
Food was excellent and so was the atmosphere. Our service was slow, but the manager was apologetic and did what he could to make it right. Definitely will go back!
The food was not good at all. The chips were stale/not fresh. The beans were undercooked. The salt was too much on everything.
Food was frankly horrible- lacked taste and was cold. Would not have thought Mexican was a tough cooking assignment but I was wrong.
Stopped here for lunch on our way into Charleston and I’m happy we did. Food was plentiful and tasty, drinks were thirst quenching and just as tasty. Only drawback was a customer issue (irresponsible dog owner allowed her dog to bite someone).
Waiter totally uninterested of taking our order(we however got water pretty fast) . We were waiting for 15-20 min, then we went to another restaurant.
We were seated quickly because no one was in the restaurant. Our server came over after 10’minutes with water. I ordered a margarita that was awful because the bottom of the glass had nothing but salt in it. It took our food 40 minutes to come out. By this time we were just ready to go. The only reason we got our food when we did is because another server walked by and asked if something was wrong. Our server didn’t return until she brought the check. Then we had to go to the bar to pay because she never returned to take our money. It was a waste of money. For a first time I was VERY disappointed
I made a reservation for 7:30pm for a group of 8 on the outdoor patio on a Friday night. We were not seated until 30 minutes later at 8pm. The service was VERY slow. We waited 30 minutes for drinks and two orders of chips and dips for the table to share. Entrees took about 50 minutes as well and we didn’t leave the restaurant until after 10pm. Food was okay, definitely not worth the wait. Everyone was upset that our evening was cut short. Very disappointing and the staff never addressed what the problem was and why our food was taking so long.
Best chicken quesadilla I’ve ever had!! Cheese dip was also excellent!
We went for my bachelorette
We had good service, but the food wasn't that great.
Our group of 8 chose Sol for dinner on a Friday night. We loved sitting outside on the covered patio. Drinks, food and service were all great. I recommend the steak salad and sea bass for dinner and a paloma or a mezcal mule.
Great mimosas, awesome food, highly recommend for Brunch! Great patio bar as well!
Mallory our server was the best!! A great experience from beginning to end!
SOL was a fun place, we were a large group and there was only 1 server for the section. Beer list was great, food was good.
We had 11:30am reservations for Sunday brunch and were seated right away with a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The restaurant was moderately busy and picked up quickly after noon. The brunch menu and lunch menu had many options to choose from and the $10 bottomless mimosas were a hit at our table. You have to try the gouda grits for sure, another big hit. A nice option for Brunch if you are downtown on a Sunday looking to have a relaxed atmosphere with tasty food options
Food and drinks were very good. The outdoor area was great for our group of 7.
Good service good price good atmosphere. Took out of towner there they liked it
Our server, Jillian was very good!! She checked on us often to make sure we had everything we needed.
They had our table set for 8 when we requested 12. Took a long time to get drinks, our waters were cleared way too earlier while we were still there, and one busser spilled water all over me.
Great Mother’s Day dining
Best Shrimp and grits ever.
I’ve gone to both locations (Mt P and Downtown) for a few years now and it is always great. The food is awesome, the service is outstanding, and I love the ambience. It’s also a very good value considering other locations in the area. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes great food at a decent price.
Always good service and food!
Always had good experience at SOL in Mt. Pleasant and this was our first time at the Charleston location. Service was excellent but food was like warm and none of the seven of us thought it tasted very good.
This place was phenomenal! We are definitely eating here again on our next visit. I highly recommend the lobster quesadilla and the bison enchiladas! The Mexican Street corn was amazing too.
Great service, food, ambiance. Margaritas are outstanding!
Brunch was amazing! Great food, great atmosphere, great service.
