SOL Mexican Cocina - Newport Beach
inlcuding antojitos, street tacos, cocktels de mariscos and main dishes made with fresh seafood, wood grilled meats, local produce and salsas that are all made fresh daily.
Loved it. Table service was fantastic but the hostess at the door is horrible to deal with.
The waitress just took orders and did not supervise delivery of our food order. My wife’s food order was delivered cold. They can’t coordinate simultaneous and hot delivery of multiple orders from diners at a single table.
Our server took the order, vanished and then showed up again to hand us the bill.
The owners seem to be absent from their restaurant.
My Chile Verde was quite good, but service is poor.
It was a little loud, but not annoying. The food and beverages were excellent so that made up for it. It was a little bit too dark at the table, too, but not bad. Definitely coming back.
Beautiful view. Good service. Good food. Would visit again.
Convivial location for date night, rendezvous with friends
Huevos rancheros were great for brunch. Pretty good mimosas for being $3!
Overall, we loved this restaurant ... we made an early reservation at the last minute and were able to get a table for two at 5:45pm on Saturday night. The service was excellent as was the food. The server was very helpful in helping us decide what we might like, and he knew exactly what I meant by a "smokey marguerite." It was the best!! The prices were very reasonable, and we will definitely go back!
We were celebrating my birthday and our experience was wonderful! Food was amazing and service was fast. Server was very friendly and attentive. Absolutely great spot! We will come back for sure!
Great spot. Waiter was fun, personable.
Food was food. Although a bit over priced. Service was terrible. Never even checked in after our food arrived.
Music was very loud from the bar area.
Slow drink service otherwise, good food.
The flavors of the tacos were great. Truly enjoyed. The drinks are very pricey; a lot of ice in the margaritas and not much “drink.” Felt like server was trying too hard to get us to order “another drink.”
Chorizo con queso was good. Decor, nice. We had a very rude waiter that scoffed at my husband’s question regarding the calories in the skinny margarita. He never once refilled the water, which was my only drink. Finally, we ordered the shrimp fajitas. Only 4 shrimp for $28??? No, thank you. We won’t be going back. Also, the guy performing was way too loud for the space. You couldn’t talk over it.
We have come to Sol a handful of times since moving to Newport Beach last year, and never left hungry or disappointed! The cocktails are spot on & we love the fact that there are many different & unusual choices. The guacamole with strawberries & fennel is amazing we love the rellanos & street tacos! We will be back
Great food and drinks! The service was amazing!
We had fantastic service, a caring general manager and great authentic food. It was a great experience.
We had a great experience. The food was excellent our server was amazing and the food and drinks we’re delicious. Definitely will come again
Christian is awesome always! I will be glad when they empty that Casa Azul black bottle for me. I e only asked every weekend for the last 5 months. Lol
Our server Kendra was sweet and created a great experience. The host put us in an available booth by the window. We both enjoyed the salmon salad 🥗. It really was the perfect date night.
Upon arriving valet is an option for $4. There was no issue with our seating. We were seated at a nice booth near the window. The service was great. Jr., Our server was polite and knowledgeable of both the menu and the restaurant. The only thing that kept this review from receiving a full set of stars was that the white sauce on my wife's fish tacos didn't have any flavor. The manager also came by to ensure we were having a good evening.
Good quality food and friendly people. Over the top noise ruined it for our group.
The patio was beautiful and quiet. Although we apparently overstayed our welcome and manager asked us to leave after we paid our bill, we ordered more drinks and he later apologized.
Service was really poor. Food wasn’t great either. Tacos were cold and extremely dry. The Chile Rellano tasted bitter. Overall disappointing specially if you go to celebrate an occasion like birthday.
Amazing meal.
Great experience great atmosphere great food
Great food!
We have been here several times and are never disappointed. The food is always excellent! Their specialty drinks are also amazing. Will be going back again and again.
My husband and I have been going here forever and love the restaurant. Amazing food and great drinks. We brought our family and friends from out of town this past weekend and they were blown away by the service and food. They said why can't we have this great of a restaurant by us (they live in the East Bay Area). Everything was spot on and made us look like rockstars taking them to this fabulous restaurant. We've always known it was fantastic, but it's always great when you bring others and they have the same experience.
Food - ok
Service - for what you are paying, terrible service!!!
Even with a reservation via open table, they did not have a table ready for us. We waited about 15 minutes — I wasn’t impressed since it was my first time there and I had invited out of town guests.
Food was good but I feel the prices are high given.
Service at the table was very good.
Come for happy hour or taco Tuesday. Otherwise overpriced. Fun ambiance. Drink service can be slow.
My favorite in Newport Beach! Great place to bring clients or date.
The unique food pairings offered here are a taste treat.
First ... thank you Sarah for a another great dining experience!! You were super good to us - thank you
The food is delicious - has the corn appetizer, gober... fish and flank steak taco’s ! Happy hour Margaritas not bad either !!!
This has been one of the best restaurants I have been to... food was amazing the service was spectacular and I felt very well taken care of
This is my favorite go-to spot. Amazing good, even better margaritas and a very cool atmosphere.
Food overall was really Good. For desert you have to try ‘seven deadly sins’
Food was not good. Patio not covered from sun
My Wife and I enjoyed our first time very much it was a great for our 38th wedding anniversary,
Spectacular upscale takes on Mexican food. Waterview location. Staff are the best!
