Unique fancy Mexican food that is always good. Yummy cocktails. Slightly pricey. I really appreciated that they went out of their way to give us a good waterfront table and said happy birthday to my boyfriend when mentioned in my open table reservation. Thank you for making it special for him! :)
Sol Cocina was a very nice restaurant. The server's, bussers, and hostesses very extremely friendly and diligent. The waitress (Natalie) showed great patience; my date and I took a while to order anything because we were talking. Lol However, it was overall an amazing evening at Sol Cocina.
We arrived 10 mins before the restaurant opened on a Sunday. We had a reservation. Once the doors opened, we were immediately seated by a window and provided large chips, salsa, and water. We had a beautiful view of the boats. We each ordered the Souffle Carlotta. It was so good. It's not simply extraordinary French toast. It's divine. No syrup needed.
The drinks were tasty, the service was outstanding, and the food was the best Mexican food I've ever had!! The flavors were rich and satisfying, and our served (Her name was Techni) was so helpful and engaging - really loved her!! Thanks for a terrific meal!
It was restaurant week and maybe that affected kitchen because I ordered something off the regular menu and my spouse ordered from the special menu and the meals came out about 20 min apart! Food was not as good as usual but our server was very nice and apologetic!
Horrible experience. Bad service. We came to SOL for daughters birthday. The waiter brought 1 basket of chips for five people. Needless to say, they were devoured in 5 minutes. Not once did anyone ask if we wanted more. Bottle of water on table to serve ourselves, which is fine. However, the bottle was empty halfway through our meal and never replenished. We had a round of margaritas, again no one ever asked us if we wanted another. I actually pulled a bottle of water from my purse to fill my glass. We couldn't get a servers attention to ask for anything as they were nowhere to be found. The carneasada and chicken were cold in three of our meals and so were the beans! Yuck! Thankfully the fish tacos were warm. I honestly would have sent it back but I kid you not we could not get a hold of anyone! The bill was dropped on our table as soon as our plates were removed with the half eaten cold tacos. They never even asked us if we wanted dessert which would have been nice given the fact we were celebrating a birthday! I put my credit card inside and again waited for at least 10 minutes. Finally we all pulled our cash together and left the cash so we didn't have to wait any longer. As soon as we pulled in our driveway at home my son and daughter hopped in his truck and went to In N Out because they were starving. Pathetic excuse for a Mexican restaurant. We will never return nor recommend this place to ANYONE.
Your greeter was awesome and super friendly. Your waiter seemed to forget about us and we had to ask around for service. Your downstairs is too warm and uncomfortable. The party that joined were loud and obnoxious. it made us and the group next to us leave. Foos was delicious as always. Thanks
I took my friend there for his birthday celebration. Made reservations & expected a great experience. Unfortunately, it was less than desirable. We were seated in this little place below the restaurant I called, 'dungeon-like' area. It was so small, it was about the size of a restroom & closed up & full of smoke, I could hardly breath! I tried to tolerate it but was disgusted that I was seated there in the first place. I went upstairs to request for another place & saw guests that came later were seated in a more desirable location. I was upset, spoke to the manager & was told that something was wrong w/their ventilation system or fan which was not working properly & was filling the restaurant w/smoke & stated that if they couldn't fix that, they were going to close up for the evening. We were told that they weren't going to seat anyone else. I was ready to drop some serious cash there but w/that experience, I'll spend it elsewhere. For certain, I will never return. The funny thing is that I know 3/4 of people in Orange County who have status & money, I'll make sure to spread the word.
I was greatly disappointed and a little embarrassed after raving to my family about this place so we decided to take them here for new years first I booked a reservation and was confirmed through open table a few family members arrived before us and gave the reservation name and was told there were no reservations for that name mind you we all just drove over an hour to get here ....I arrived and showed my confirmation and they put a make shift table in a corner near the kitchen wow ...then was ignored for 25 min I had to ask for chips and salsa...the waiter was terrific but unfortunately it's a group effort I advised the manager on duty he said he would make things right which was a free dessert! I was offended...sad.
