One of our favorite local restaurants. Always good.
Great food, friendly service in a quaint atmosphere. We'll come back for sure!
Always a great experience at Sol Azteca! Such a low-key place with delicious food and tasty drinks. It's the perfect place to grab a bite after work with friends and/or co-workers. The enchiladas with mole are a staple for me, and the complimentary salsa is delightful, especially paired with an order of fresh guacamole.
I’ve been a loyal customer of Sol Azteca since they opened 45 years ago! The food is the best tasting, most authentic Mexican food I’ve eaten anywhere in the US! The menu is varied and I’ve had the opportunity to try just about everything. The sangria is absolutely the BEST. The salsa and chips are better than anywhere. The queso is delicious. The veracruzano sauce is my favorite. The banana and caramel dessert is unique, light and perfectly SUPERB.
Back in the 1970s I lived around to he corner. Now I make the hour trip when i want to make sure I get a great meal.
Everything was completely amazing. Delicious food, great service, and the best frozen margarita!!
My party was courteously greeted when we arrived. The host dismissed, with a gentle and non-fake smile, my apology for being 10 minutes late. Our waitress's timing between asking what we wanted to drink, to eat, whether we were pleased, etc., was just right. I ordered the molé poblano. The chicken was moist and falling apart, the molé sauce was well balanced and thickened by reduction just so, the other parts of the dish were tasty and comforting. The management runs a tight ship while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
The queso asado (fundido) was a fabulous appetizer with the homemade chips. The enchiladas were equally delicious. The fajitas were somewhat disappointing in their presentation (not "sizzling"), but was tasty. The fajita tortillas were seemingly "old" or overcooked in that they did not roll up well (hardened). Friendly staff and fun ambiance. We'll be back!
We have never been disappointed at Sol Azteca over the many years that we have been going there.
Nice environment, our waiter Miguel was awesome make us have a great time there, the food it's good, fair price. Original Mexican flavor and Mexican people that's the Best.
A nice place for authentic Mexican fare. Go early and it's kid-friendly, go later and it's a nice romantic setting with good drinks. My only suggestion would be more consistent lighting throughout the restaurant.
they used to serve the best drinks. the last time they were barely drinkable
Nice place; nice people; tasty food. It has a neighborhood feel to it. Varied menu.
I went here with my two girlfriends after our first day of classes. We had great food and great drinks. Our waiter was awesome. Overall we had a really wonderful experience, and we will definitely be back.
Wide variety of traditional Mexican food. We like the enchiladas
I’ve dined here and at the Newton location every so often for the last 20 years. The food has always been solidly good not great but this past experience, I really wasn’t satisfied with the quality of the food or drinks. It’s a shame because I have such fond memories of the restaurant. I can’t justify $50/pp for a mediocre meal when so much better exists in Boston. The sangria tasted exclusively like cinnamon, the combo plates were lacking in flavor, the flan tasted like it had come out of the freezer 30 mins before. On top of that, the meal took 2 hours even though we ordered at the first opportunity. Without prompting, the hostess apologized for the slow service but they didn’t go out of their way to show they cared.
We had a great experience at Sol Azteca. The food was absolutely delicious!!
Wonderful place--delicious authentic food, drinks, et al. and the service and staff are terrific - Recommend!
Our annual Faculty & Staff holiday dinner was held here, and even with an increase in the RSVP number, the host was very accommodating. The food was delicious and brought out quickly, and our drinks were never empty. White we were a large group of 18, they catered to us very well.
Got reservation for 7 on a Friday night. Great service- really pleasant staff even though they were busy. Loved the food and selection on menu. Reasonably priced.
We had a lovely dinner. The food was delicious, as always, and we were seated in a quiet area of the restaurant, away from the large Saturday night parties. My margaritas (2!) were great. We’ve been coming back for over 40 years, and will continue to do so!
Margaritas were pretty weak, especially the frozen one. Nachos were a great deal if you split them with a friend!
Always love a family get-together at Sol Azteca -- great kids' menu and every entrée has great sides. Very warm and friendly service. Delicious chips and salsa, plus super margaritas -- enjoy!
Great food warm and friendly staff! In a congested popular area, this was a true oasis ;-)
Sol Azteca is always a good choice for authentic Mexican, attentive and considerate service and the best margaritas in Boston.
I'm Mexican American and I thought the food was pretty good. I had the Chile relleno with cheese and enjoyed it. It definitely doesn't compare to Mexican food in LA but for Boston it was pretty good.
We were visiting Boston and staying in the Brookline neighborhood. This restaurant was on the suggested listing from our AirBnB hosts, so we tired it. Both my wife and i enjoyed our meals, and appreciated the opportunity to eat outdoors in September. Large restaurant, lots of seating, but eating outside was a bonus.
My wife had the veggie burrito and I had a pork burrito, both were excellent. Good quality, and reasonable prices. I would recommend this restaurant for those craving Mexican food in Beantown.
i love this place. Great guacamole, sangria, lovely summer patio!
Have gone to Sol Azteca since it opened! Our family loves it. Best true Mexican food
Sol Azteca has delicious food at reasonable prices. it is an easy walk to Fenway, Boston University and Kenmore Square. The staff was very accommodating as we had a large party and ended up being a bit late due to traffic. Music was a tad loud but we could hear everyone at the table so not bad. Nice evening before the ball game!!
This was our second time at Sol Azteca and I guarantee there will be a third.
The salsa was fresh and delicious. I appreciated the older woman who worked there offering me extra sauce to add to it to make it more spicy. I like spicy:) My husband ordered the queso dip and very was disappointed. It was oily and greasy and not what he expected. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were delicious. I would go back if I lived closer.
Sol Azteca is always fun!
We love Sol Azteca. We've been going since 1985 and it has never disappointed. If you want high quality, authentic Mexican food and, by the way, the best Sangria anywhere, this is the place for you.
Good Mexican food, great margaritas, excellent service -and, if weather allows, wonderful outdoor seating
Excellent service and great food! Knowledgeable waiter.
Excellent old guard Boston Mexican. Great menu options including traditional and gourmet. Salsa, sangria, guacamole, chicken mole, fish in cilantro sauce are stand outs. Pleasant environment and staff also a plus.
My wife, sister and I had not been to Sol Azteca in over thirty years! We lived in Brookline for most of the 10 years we lived in the Boston area and Sol Azteca was one of our "regular" spots for dining. We were visiting Boston (from New York) to see our daughter and her fiance and to see our other daughter, a singer/songwriter, who was performing in Cambridge. After the show, we all headed over to Sol Azteca for a wonderful dinner of fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas. The chips and salsa were as good as the last time we dined there!! Amazing!! The decor, the tables, the plates and the warm ambiance and terrific service were as if we had hit a time warp. Nothing had changed!! And why should it have? Sol Azteca is prima facie evidence of the maxim, "if it is not broken, don't fix it."!!! A great time had by all. Thank you Sol Azteca for making our return visit to Brookline so special!!
The seven of us needed to have dinner close to Fenway Park for a concert. Everyone likes Mexican cuisine, so we gave it a whirl. The Cadillac was consumed by many, a margarita off their menu. I had the mixed grill, most excellent. Chips and salsa were also excellent. They have outside seating as well. Would definitely do this again. Oh, and we asked for the hot sauce. It was very spicy. Most excellent if you like that.
The ambiance and the friendliness of the wait staff were appreciated. It was hard to get and keep the waiter's attention. But we wanted to linger because we were there to celebrate the recent receipt of green cards of friends who seeking asylum in the USA. It was such a special occasion, and so important in this current political atmosphere, that we didn't mind his inattention.
Great atmosphere, food was delicious, excellent service, generous portions.
