Chips and salsa are complimentary with each entree. Great food, friendly staff!
Best Sangria I’ve ever had, not too sweet! The server was delightful and the ambiance is cozy. Good sized portions
It may have been chilly outside but the staff was warm and welcoming. Great guacamole and nice flavors. True Mexican food.
I’ve been going to Sol Azteca since the 80’s and it never fails! The cilantro chicken is so amazing! One of my favorite restaurants.
The manager (?) that night was very gracious and kindly opened a section of the restaurant that was normally closed on Sundays to accommodate our party’s disability needs. The waitress we had was also very attentive and considerate.
Saturday is Date Night for this long-time married couple, and we have often celebrated at Sol Azteca over the last hundred years or so! We love it.
Very nice meal. A little pricey. Good, attentive service.
Our service and food were excellent - we loved our server! His recommendations were on point!
Our server was knowledgeable and steered us in the right direction. The food was prepared perfectly and the flavors were unique and delicious! Fun to eat innovative Italian in the historic North End!
Great food, hard to get the waiter’s attention but food came quickly when we did order. Not cheap, but definitely worth it in a city that has limited options for Mexican food.
Sol Azteca never disappoints. Awesome people, great service, and delicious food and drinks.
They were super accomodating to us as vegans and to my allergy stuff. The wait staff and the food was fabulous. However, I was super disappointed that the rice was made with chicken broth. They made that very clear on the menu, however, which I appreciated.
This had been one of our favorite restaurants for over 20 years. The food is always wonderful and it’s a great atmosphere. Their mole sauce is the best I’ve ever had anywhere! (If you like that) and every other dish we’ve ever had has been just as good
Go here only if you have low standards for food and service. We were a party of four, and came at 6:30. the restaurant was not crowded. Two of us ordered fajitas, one ordered a shrimp dish, and one ordered fish and pork tacos. We also ordered guacamole for the table. The guacamole came on time, but the main courses didn't come for almost an hour! I had to ask the manager to fix the problem. He explained they were serving a large group in another room. The fajitas arrived shortly thereafter, and the other two dishes arrived about 10 minutes later. The meat in the fajitas was lukewarm, and the rice and refried bean were cool to room temperature. They had obviously been ready long before and had sat under a heat lamp. Fajitas are supposed to come hot and sizzling, which this was not. And the refried beans had congealed into a glutinous brown slab. I complained to the waiter, and asked that the plates be reheated. He said he couldn't do that. The other dishes were also lukewarm. We were happy to get our check and leave. The meal cost about $100, including three glasses of wine. I tipped the waiter $20 because waiters in the US are underpaid.
I hadn't been to this Sol Azteca for years, and only came because an out of town guest wanted to. Now I remember why I have avoided it. By the way, I had a similar experience at their branch in Newton Center, because another friend insisted we go. The service there was ok, but the food was horrible.
I lived in the Southwest for many years, and was spoiled to have an abundance of great Mexican food.
This place was just like being back in Tucson, Sonora Mexico. Food was out of this world, wait staff was efficient, friendly and definitely not in your face. Service time was fast and the food was incredible, very authentic. If it hadn't been snowing, could have sworn I was in Mexico. We are going again next time we're in Boston.
The food was delicious and wonderful; the server seemed to be scattered and a lacking in service. We had a wonderful time, but there were moments in which it was clear we hadn’t decided what we wanted and we needed space. Our server asked us 5+ times over a course of a few minutes what we wanted even after we said we needed time to figure it out. It made us uncomfortable because we had stated our boundaries, and they weren’t respected, and it made both of us want to leave.
Amazing dinner as always! Still the best sangria and salsa in town!
It was excellent. The food was really good.
It had been years since I'd been to Sol Azteca...and it's still one of the best Mexican Restaurants I've enjoyed. Pama-Rita is delicious...as is the black bean soup, carnitas and guacamole! Check it out!
Birthday dinner! Made a notation on the reservation, and yet service staff forgot to acknowledge it at dessert.
Best enchiladas verdes I’ve ever had!
My nephews 21st birthday
Very accommodating for a last minute reservation. Host was pleasant. Margaritas were not very good with a lot of ice. Fajitas were very good with a large serving although there could have been more tortillas. Chicken quesadilla was terrible. Deep fried with plain chicken inside. No flavoring or cheese. Rice seemed dry and old. Tab was reasonable.
Excellent food (the guacamole is tremendously good) and drinks. It's a great place to dine on the patio.
Food was a little bland and service was a bit slow.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner on Saturday of Labor Day weekend at Sol Azteca. Boston was crazy busy with BU student move-in but Sol Azteca did a fantastic job getting us seated and served efficiently. We enjoyed dining at an outside table and the food was delicious. The owner made sure we were seated promptly and checked on us during our meal. We felt very welcomed and appreciated. Thanks to the entire staff for an enjoyable dinner. We will definitely return when we are back in Boston to visit our daughter. :)
The service was very very slow but the food was good.
Was great our waitress Dilly was fanatic . Food was great and a lot for the money . Drinks are also great . I’d recommend it . Everyone works there was super. nice.
We will be back soon.
Surprisingly, other than shrimp, no seafood on the menu. Otherwise, good Mexican staples. But menu could be updated
I grew up in So Cal and I love authentic Mexican food. We live in NJ now and don't have any really good Mexican restaurants near us. We do seek them out in NYC and when we're in other big cities. I had read many of the great reviews and we were super excited to check this place out. The restaurant was in a good location, beautiful authentic decor. Friendly, but slow service. Food was fresh but not very flavorful...the four of us had a mix of menu items, including a special...they were all just okay. Margaritas were watered down, weak. All in all, it was just "meh." Bummer...
We have been going to Sol Azteca since it opened in 1973. It has always been one of our favorite restaurants. We always considered the chips and salsa the best in the city, but we did not enjoy the new chips and salsa. The rest of the food was good, but not quite as good as in the past. The banana / caramel dessert was excellent as always.
We are regulars here. The service is great and outdoor patio just the thing in the summer.
Great food, great waiter, great atmosphere , delicious pork tostadas
I've been eating here forever. They are one of the longest running Mexican restaurants in town and it is because their food service and menu choices are spectacular. Outdoor seating in the summer is really nice. Inside in the winter is warm and cozy. Always a great dinner.
I love Sol Azteca. The food is always wonderful and super yummy margs.
Wonderful as always. Have been going there since they opened in 1974. Always fantastic. Best salsa I have ever had. Absolutely my favorite for Mexican food.
Amazing food, drinks and service. A bit pricy for the area
My wife and I had a lovely meal. I had a great Flor de Cana run and Mexican coke for my cocktail. I had the tasty chicken and rice as well as the savory Fish Veracruzana. My wife enjoyed the Mango chicken. Great service, outside seating and flavorful food. Prices were fair; portions were large. This was a great meal.
The menu at the restaurant was different that what was online which was a little disappointing, as I couldn’t order what I originally wanted. The food came out really fast, but took a bit for a server to initially come over. Food was good overall.
Sol Azteca is always a favorite stop for us. Great food and amazing sangria! Relaxed atmosphere and terrific staff.
