SOHO - Atlanta Ratings and Reviews
My initial impression was not a good one as we were 15min early checking in with reservations. We were told they were seating closer to the reservation's time and to come back and check in. That was fine, except how it was presented to us. Maybe a better way to handle it is to say, "Thank you for the reservation,
your table is not quite ready, please have seat at the bar if you'd like and we'll have you seated soon." Now, I understand it was Valentine's Day and restaurants are trying to pack in the patrons, but we were placed at a table in a small space that did not seat five couples comfortably. The waiter and other patrons had to worry about bumping one another and/or knocking over something on the table. In addition, the food was disappointing considering the ratings for this restaurant. The appetizer, the oyster special we had didn't sit well with us, but decided to continue with the main course anyways. My husband had the snapper special and he thought it was just okay. I had the ribeye special. It had sounded wonderful when the waiter was describing it, but it was pretty bland. A good note, the ribeye was cooked a perfect medium rare. The spinach side was okay, but thought it was oversalted. The mac-n-cheese was just okay. Overall, we were disappointed with the food considering the ratings of this restaurant. On a good note, the one glass of wine & one cocktail and the waiter was great.
I expected the food to be better based on the review. For the price, not worth it. I was excited to get the elk tenderloin, but the one at Rathbun's is so much better that I was pretty disappointed. Also disappointed with the bread pudding. The server was nice, but he fumbled on the check pretty badly. I know this is the South, and I know nicer restaurants tend to do this traditionally, but I was paying for dinner (I'm a female) and he handed the check folder to my date WIDE OPEN and made it really awkward for everyone involved. I had left the card on the table, hoping that would be enough of a sign just to take it and go. Womp womp. So I had to listen to my date put up a stink about how expensive it was (it wasn't, but kind of screwed it up being a Valentine's Day gift).
Overall, just kind of meh on this place. Poor acoustics, a request to sit on the same side of the table was ignored in my request section on OpenTable (even though there were 4-person tables available the entire time we were there), food was delivered in a very flat and abrupt way by a food runner, and kind of weird "pop-in" from the manager who stuck his head in over my shoulder unexpectedly to check on us. They (the restaurant as a whole) were trying, but missed the mark over and over on a lot of little things. (Disclaimer: I worked in restaurants for a long time so I get that not everything can go perfectly, but this was too many flubs from all side.)
I won't be going back-- partly because I don't really frequent that area of town, but also I just was not impressed for the cost of the meal.
Soho is a nice local restaurant. The bar is nicely laid out and the menu interesting. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The food choice was excellent and tasted good. I had the crab cakes, excellent and my wife the mussels. Overall very good and recommended.
Nice evening, we were seated in the quiet section as the bar area and entry were very active. Food was quite good, but served a bit too quickly. Salad came out before we had a chance to enjoy cocktails, and entree came out before salads were finished. Nice evening overall!
I have eaten lunch here many times for business and pleasure- food is always good and the prices are fair - nothing outrageously priced. You can eat healthy and have a great salad (vinaigrette salad dressing is the best!) or something more substantial like salmon or hamburger and fries. I like the atmosphere; it is small and cozy, and seems to be a neighborhood "go to".
I like the little shopping area it is in. great to walk around -either before or after you eat depending on time of day.
Food was excellent (sea bass and chef special which was trout)/chicken tortilla soup)! Service was VERY off...took a while to be served, then waiter forgot water which we asked for immediately. We had cocktails and appetizers beforehand. Our dinner came before we finished our cocktails yet we asked and emphasized to the waiter to not bring these "on top of one another". Therefore, we only ordered a glass of wine w/dinner vs. the bottle we had planned on.....Maybe this was just an "off" night as we would dine here again because the food was delicious. We felt rushed.
Chapelle made our night fantastic. She was an exceptional server who added so much to the evening at SOHO. We had a wonderful meal and highly recommend the Apple Sausage ravioli. The manager greeted us a few times and made sure all was going well. Clearly a restaurant that cares about their diners' experience. Highly recommended.
This is a tried and true dining spot for any occasion. Food is always reliably delicious. And the ambiance and service are also great. When I want to be sure on a restaurant pick... that the food, service, ambiance, etc will all be a good experience... this is one of my GO TO spots👍
I am a SOHo long time customer. In fact I had a wonderful meal on the Thursday of this week in addition to Saturday. I took friends on Thursday and the night was great due to the server.
I can't say that about Saturday. Hostess was cold and removed from her job coming in and especially going out. Couldn't muster a thank you and goodbye. The hostess was young the other one was nice. The one who checked us in was brown hair and about 19.
The waiter was all about biz. short answers and quick service. I felt rushed but maybe its just me. All in all I did not enjoy the night.
I have been going to SOHO since it opened, but disappointed with the last few meals. I suggest an 86 on the Thai chicken lettuce wrap appetizer. It was too sloppy and messy to eat with either fingers or a knife and fork. I had to go wash my hands after that. The Short Ribs were grossly oversalted, and excessively fatty. I should have sent it back, but didn't want my guest to have to wait on me to order another entree. I think the menu is old and needs an updated infusion of more hip entrees. For example, the Sea Bass at $32 has been on the menu forever. How about grilled red snapper served with wheatberries and charred bok choy for a change. The desserts continue to disappoint for this caliber of restaurant. A dessert cart wheeled around with mini desserts: Napolean, fresh fruit tarts, beignets would be fun. Please offer something more exciting than creme brulee and bread pudding. I can make that at home. On the plus side, Jesse was exceptional in service, personality and professionalism.
New years dinner with friends and family. Waited 1 hour past reservation time to be seated. After dinner was rushed to leave as they wanted to close restaurant. Food was cold when served and not as good as previous visits to restaurant. Highly dissapointed!
Overall our experience was great. We had a reservation for 8:00 and weren't seated until about 8:45. We were told when we arrived that they were running behind on seating, but weren't given an estimated wait time. I understand that it was New Year's Eve, and you want to provide as many reservations as possible, but please be aware of this next year and don't overbook. Jeff, the manager, was extremely apologetic and gave us a glass of Prosecco on the house. I would go back but not on a holiday.
