Went with friends who had never been there for dinner. We all enjoyed it. It is a good, reliable spot that has a wide variety on their menu. So everyone can usually find something they like.

Great location and good ambiance. The food was excellent. The only shortfall was the service we received from our waitress. She didn't come by often enough and we had to ask several times to have our water and drinks refilled. The manager, however, did come by our table to check on us, which helped make up for our service.

Several people in our party said that they had been to SOHO before, and that the unattentive service we received was not typical for this restaurant. With that in mind, I would definitely return and give it another chance.

My initial impression was not a good one as we were 15min early checking in with reservations. We were told they were seating closer to the reservation's time and to come back and check in. That was fine, except how it was presented to us. Maybe a better way to handle it is to say, "Thank you for the reservation,
your table is not quite ready, please have seat at the bar if you'd like and we'll have you seated soon." Now, I understand it was Valentine's Day and restaurants are trying to pack in the patrons, but we were placed at a table in a small space that did not seat five couples comfortably. The waiter and other patrons had to worry about bumping one another and/or knocking over something on the table. In addition, the food was disappointing considering the ratings for this restaurant. The appetizer, the oyster special we had didn't sit well with us, but decided to continue with the main course anyways. My husband had the snapper special and he thought it was just okay. I had the ribeye special. It had sounded wonderful when the waiter was describing it, but it was pretty bland. A good note, the ribeye was cooked a perfect medium rare. The spinach side was okay, but thought it was oversalted. The mac-n-cheese was just okay. Overall, we were disappointed with the food considering the ratings of this restaurant. On a good note, the one glass of wine & one cocktail and the waiter was great.

I expected the food to be better based on the review. For the price, not worth it. I was excited to get the elk tenderloin, but the one at Rathbun's is so much better that I was pretty disappointed. Also disappointed with the bread pudding. The server was nice, but he fumbled on the check pretty badly. I know this is the South, and I know nicer restaurants tend to do this traditionally, but I was paying for dinner (I'm a female) and he handed the check folder to my date WIDE OPEN and made it really awkward for everyone involved. I had left the card on the table, hoping that would be enough of a sign just to take it and go. Womp womp. So I had to listen to my date put up a stink about how expensive it was (it wasn't, but kind of screwed it up being a Valentine's Day gift).

Overall, just kind of meh on this place. Poor acoustics, a request to sit on the same side of the table was ignored in my request section on OpenTable (even though there were 4-person tables available the entire time we were there), food was delivered in a very flat and abrupt way by a food runner, and kind of weird "pop-in" from the manager who stuck his head in over my shoulder unexpectedly to check on us. They (the restaurant as a whole) were trying, but missed the mark over and over on a lot of little things. (Disclaimer: I worked in restaurants for a long time so I get that not everything can go perfectly, but this was too many flubs from all side.)

I won't be going back-- partly because I don't really frequent that area of town, but also I just was not impressed for the cost of the meal.
