Brooklyn restaurant featuring authentic Persian home cooking made with love.
Traditionally, Persian families gathered around the sofreh, an iconic fabric spread that served as the backdrop for beautiful displays of food during New Year, weddings, and other celebrations.
More than a decorative tablecloth, sofreh represents the warmth and hospitality that Persian people are known for. We embody this ethos at Sofreh, with traditional Persian dishes that represent/speak to the rich heritage and diversity of the region that is modern-day Iran. We want Sofreh to feel like a second home - a place where you can experience comforting food, made with love, in an inviting atmosphere.
Our philosophy is simple - food should be authentic, well crafted, and delicious. We capture this essence in everything we create, from our homemade yogurts to our fresh-baked breads. We even make our own pickles and marmalades.
The food is beautiful, flavorful, fresh and all around very excellent. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. We had the pleasure to meet the chef while we were dining and I was a bit star struck. I can’t think of a better place to have dinner with friends to share several plates.
What an amazing experience. Thank you for the delicious food, care for detail, and generous hospitality.
Oh this place is such a gem. The food was unique and delicious and was a joy to experience. Also the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the owner was even there to great us! You can tell it is a place built with love and I'm definitely going to come back.
Cleaning up while we were there, strong smell of ammonia, and the back door left open with freezing air pouring in. Had to ask for the bill after a very long wait AFTER complaining about this ammonia/clean up inhospitable feeling. Good food, not amazing. Not worth a train ride. Went because of Pete Wells’ glowing review.
Everything you've heard is true. Cozy, welcoming restaurant with great food.
Excellent food, true to Persian origins. Best steak I've had in a while and the lamb was so tender. Shirin polo stood out as it is hard to find on menus and it hearkened back to my childhood. Will definitely be back.
Everything was incredibly flavorful and reasonably priced. I’m Iranian and this was the best Iranian food I’ve ever had in the states.
Our second visit within a month. Once again, excellent experience. Food, service, ambiance - everything was outstanding!!! The most memorable & endearing part of the experience was the way the chef & her family (some of whom work at the restaurant) personally pay attention to what is going on at the restaurant. It is truly a labor of love! We will be back many more times!
Had an absolutely delicious and beautiful dining experience at Sofreh. The manager and owner were extremely hospitable, the food was delicious, and we always had everything we needed before we even had to ask for it. One note (and this barely detracts from my experience) but I did find it to be a bit bright in there wasn’t any music playing, which I found a little weird. They did begin to put some music on as we left (we ate on the early side). I’m not asking for anything loud or remarkable, just some background music is nice while dining. But again, barely an issue just more of an observation. Overall awesome and can’t wait to go back.
Exquisitely prepared Persian food. Subtle spicing, with a palate different than more familiar European, Asian, or American foods. Multiple rice dishes, all delicious. Chicken, lamb, beef with prunes, and butterbeans all excellent. Inventive cocktails and a nice wine list.
Sofreh is absolutely incredible in every way and a gem in the neighborhood. Highly recommend!
Nice restaurant. We asked to be seated near the back to be away from the cold, but were told we had to sit right next to the door (presumably due to the size of our party of 4) even though there were still empty tables at the back and we had a reservation.
The food was good and the service was friendly. The prices were a little on the high side, but still within reason.
Great food, great attention to detail, and great environment!
We love Sofreh. The food is made with love and is amazing.
We had a lovely, decadent time! Everything wss delicious, though our seats were a bit uncomfortable (right across from the kitchen doors on very hard chairs). The duck was excellent ♡
My second time here and I tell everyone to go! It's a fabulous culinary experience, accessible and affordable with something for everyone.
Excellent food, good ambiance, great cocktails and excellent service. A wonderful evening.
Terrific dinner! Service was lovely, Naseem is lovely. The food is stupid good. I am Egyptian, I cook middle eastern food and come from a long line of excellent cooks. Many Iranian friends. This food was exceptional and transporting. I told Naseem (the chef) that it took me home in a way to my grandmother's kitchen. Try this out. You really will not regret it. Lamb, duck, eggplant, cauliflower, everything was phenomenal!
Despite having a reservation, we had to wait over 15 minutes to be seated. The food was fine, but not what we anticipated from Persian fare (had a modern twist that I was not expecting). Pretty much everything was overpriced. Glad we went as we had been wanting to check it out, but probably won’t stop in again.
There are restaurants and then there is Sofreh. I came thinking this was some simple restaurant but I was truly amazed. As the dinner progress my palate was transformed. Each dish was served with such flavor. The wait staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when it came to decided on what to get. The ambiance was very nice. Great place for everyone. Serves very authentic Iranian cuisine! 10/10
Excellent food, exceptional cocktails in a warm and welcoming setting
Exceptional food with welcoming atmosphere and a lots of great vibe.
This is one of my favorite restaurants and every time I visit it seems to be better. I regularly take friends because I know they will adore it.
One of the best meals I had in a long time. Outstanding flavors
Woderful food/ service and decor
Really great- I highly recommend
Owner made our experience extremely weird and uncomfortable.
Unbelievable. Perfect in every way.
Believe the hype. Everything we ordered was fantastic!
The food is FANTASTIC! And the people are SO WARM! Truly an all-round wonderful culinary experience!
Great food, beautiful space. Starters and small things are awesome, would skip entrees and double up on these!
The cauliflower appetizer was amazing. Almost ordered it for dessert. Would go back for that alone. The dessert I did have was terrific-ice cream sandwich. Excellent house wines. Looking forward to a return visit if I can get another reservation. Place is hard to get into.
Unbelievable Persian food.
Everything was wonderful...can't wait to go back
Food, service and ambiance all great
Lovely atmosphere, amazing food, very attentive staff. Loved it.
My friend recommended this restaurant in my neighborhood. The food was excellent, atmosphere great. I cannot wait to go back!!!
Amazing experience. Delicious food 🥘 highly recommend. The braised beef and spinach as excellent. Great drinks.
Every dinner at Sofreh is spectacular. Each dish is uniquely curated and is a feast not only for the palate but the eyes as well. Fantastic service and minimalist zen decor make the overall experience refreshing.
Modern, well-lit place with a decent sound level so you could carry a conversation without shouting, Great attentative service. Not all the dishes were wonderful though. Lamb was good, fish of the day less so. Date salad was fabulous. Carrot Halvah just ok.
Beautiful restaurant, great staff, excellent food, interesting menu. Highly reccommend
Delicious flavors very innovative
