Sofia New Orleans
I’ve been to plenty of Italian restaurants but this place set the bar extremely high. Came here for my birthday and was no disappointed!! The service was perfect. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and very helpful with any questions we had. The establishment itself was beautiful! The decor was so unique with beautiful photos of Sofia Loren everywhere and the lighting and noise level was just right. Now for the most important part: THE FOOD. The food was out of this world! The cacio a Pepe pasta I had was so overwhelmingly delicious that I literally came back the next two days just for that!!! Absolutely AMAZING. Will definitely be coming back and it’s now easily one of my favorite restaurants
Excellent pizza coming from a beautiful wood fired oven. Great heirloom tomato salad. Excellent service. Only negative is noise level.
One of the few Restaurants that checks all the boxes!
Excellent food, atmosphere, cocktails, and service.
We had a large group which this place seems to be built to accommodate. Salads were to die for - recommend the Kale and Tomato / Beet, meatballs were light, fluffy and full of flavor. We ordered the Cacio y Pepe - the when first it came out was lacking in seasoning. Our waitress sensed something was off, identified the culprit, and brought us out a new one. And we all agreed, it was phenomenal! The pizza Margarita was Transcendent, I’ll never eat another one and feel right about it again lol. The Bistecca or steak (not sure how you spell it) - belongs in the best steakhouses. Sofia is a must.
I really don't understand all of the hype regarding this place. I was really looking forward to it. Waited for my table for over 40 minutes, even though I had a reservation. I admit; I was picky and wanted a table; but this was mentioned in my reservation. The hostess was great; she was very helpful; waitress was great. The food was really average at best. The pictures online are really appealing and draw you in, but the food is average for New Orleans. My kale salad was the best thing I ate. I ordered two desserts, and really didn't like either. I was overall disappointed. I think I may give it one more try and possibly order pizza, but other than that, glad I tried it, but really don't agree with the hype.
Can’t wait to come back. This place is a force. Our server was also outstanding.
We are lovers of Italian food and Sofia's is "ottimo" from the pastas to the budino and torta.
Sofia is AMAZING!!! Food, service, and ambiance are out of this world
Loved the decor and the spritz drinks are phenomenal. Food was very good too. Noise level was almost unbearable though.
Wonderful food and service but we could hardly hear ourselves think.
Great everything, it is just a loud venue so it is hard to hear your party when trying to speak to each other. The food is very very good though.
First time at the restaurant, We brought our own bottle of wine to dinner and planned on ordering an additional one off of their list. Appetizers were ordered and all three were very good. Meatballs,Octopus and a Tomato Salad. As we were wrapping up the apps, we ordered the 2nd bottle of wine off the list. A Gaja blend that was one of the highest price bottles on the list. At that point the evening went sideways. We asked the server Alice to decant the wine. She was gone for 10 minutes and came back with the decanter full of wine and no wine bottle. That's a big no-no of course. We asked to see the bottle and it turned out that it was not the specific year that was on the list, and the wine we got was from an inferior year. The manager came over, a discussion started about the error, she went and checked and in fact the list which was printed internally had the wrong year on it. At that point the entrees arrived, 3 house made pasta dishes and the lamb shank. 2 of the three pasts dishes had meatballs that were ice cold. The pasta itself was very good as was the lamb shank. Our waitress basically disappeared after the wine snafu, finally the general manager came over, we had a lengthy (good) discussion with him and the cold meatballs were corrected and desert on the house was provided. We also received a small credit for the wine.
Not sure how long Sofia has been open, maybe its fairly new and they are working out the kinks, as every restaurant can have one-off issues in the kitchen. However to open an expensive bottle of wine in the back, decant it back there and then bring it to the table is like a first grade error. Had that not happened, would have probably scored the place 4 stars. Most likely will not return.
Delicious delicious food! Wonderful service and wine.
food was cold but still good
Best veggie pizza I’ve ever had! Sofia is so beautiful with color. Beauty and pizza can’t go wrong lol!
Food was very good. Only complaint was timing. We had a 6:45 reservation and since there was a Saints night game they decided to close early. Resulted in very much feeling rushed. A one time issue I would assume.
New brunch is wonderful, lots of choices, great sampling of Sofia's diverse menu. Plus high energy during football season! Got a chance to sample food I might have overlooked during regular dinners. Very friendly and helpful staff
This was our second time eating here. The first was quiet and later. This time it was intolerably loud. Food was awesome both times. Service better the first time.
Food was cold when it came to the table for 2 if the people in our party, forgot pasta, sent foo d back and it took so long that they didn’t want it anymore. We won’t be back.
Superb. Knowledgeable servers. I could tell she cared about the food and our experience. A genuine and warming experience.
Really enjoyed our meal. Noise level is high for me. But makes for a festive atmosphere if that is what your looking for.
Great evening with friends in NOLA
Food didn’t disappoint
Excellent food and service but we did wish portions were larger
Great service and knowledgable sommelier who knew a lot about amari. Group of 5 of us, we had a killer time.
New favorite spot in town! Get the rib eye. Wow!
Great food and gave us a delicious birthday cake for my friends birthday!
Delicious and fantastic service!
Wow ❤️❤️❤️ don’t miss this New Orleans hidden gem. Wouldn’t of known it was there had I not bumped into someone leaving. It’s a must try and a definite return.
We have to give any restaurant with a two-story tall pizza covered in mosaic 5 stars across the board. Pizza margarita and signore Bianco with the spicy oil they have was transcendent. Blue Crab Risotto is a must!
Energetic and fun. First class food and service.
Our waiter, Cohen, was amazing. He was very thorough in his knowledge of the food and drinks. Cohen's suggestions were also great. We ordered an appetizer that was newer and it was not what we expected and he comped i. Overall awesome atmosphere and great vibes. Can't wait to try a new dish next time.
High top and bar seating not conducive to conversation and a bit uncomfortable. A bit overpriced. Great cocktails. And different and tasty food
Best Italian Food in NOLA. I spent 6 years living in Italy from 2011-2017, and Sofia is the best representation of modern Italian Cuisine in the city. I wish they had more pastas, however.
There’s a conceptual problem
Even though I struggle with the American concept of Italian food where more ingredients is good, but in reality listen to Nona or even Batali where just a couple of things is good
Less is more
But here it just lacks that Italian comfort thing
Upbeat and hip environment. Classy, upscale yet not pretentious. Fantastic food and great service.
Spritzer cocktails a creative delight. Meatballs and broccoli salad were divine. Didn’t have time to eat anything else, will return if possible. Excellent.
Delicious, modern Italian, well-presented by knowledgeable waitstaff. Very fresh and quality ingredients. Can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic Ambiance and decor. Sophia Loren Art is prevalent and colorful. Fun space that’s comfy. Cacio y Pepe was al dente, perfect.
