Sofia Italian Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Server was ok. She was pleasant ~ but poor time management bringing out our drinks, salads before apps, had to wait for everyone's entree ( they came out at different times, then we had to wait for our desserts for over 20 minutes. Maybe it was the kitchen's fault. Food was terrible though, 3 pasta dishes were nasty ~ just not a good experience. Will not go back. Plus food was pricey!! 😖😖
My husband and I went to Sofia's to celebrate our anniversary. We had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and pleasing to the eye. I was happy that we made a reservation since it was busy. Our waitress was pretty timely as well. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion. It is on the pricey side, but worth it.
I go to Sophia's about 4 times a year. It is a 'special occasion' restaurant for me to celebrate either my son coming home from California or a friend visiting from another part of the country. I absolutely love the fillet mignon there and always order that because it is very hard to find any other restaurant locally that prepares steak as well as Sophia's does. The atmosphere is elegant yet comfortable and the lighting is 'just right' (not too dark or too bright). The tables are spaced nicely to be able to enjoy conversation without overhearing someone else's. Our server (Janessa ?) was very attentive. She was cordial and prompt in taking and delivering our order. A very nice dining experience.
This was our second visit in a month to Sofia's and we enjoyed both very much. The wait staff are very friendly and accommodating, and the server from our first visit stopped at our table to say hello and welcome back. They were attentive to every request. We enjoyed our meals thoroughly, and will be back in the future. It's not an inexpensive place, but we find that it offers real value for your dollar.
Our waiter Shawn was friendly, funny, and super nice. Me and 3 of my friends went for restaurant week. The food and drinks were delicious. He was very knowledgeable and recommended a dish that we all loved! The outside of the restaurant does NOT do it any justice. The ambiance on the inside, amazing. Date night worth with the hubby. I'll definitely visit again.
Only downside is the parking. It's open parking. But space is limited.
We wanted to be sited in a relatively quiet aria and thought a small room would be better then any place in the dining hall. That was a mistake! Huge! That small room in the back of the restaurant had 4 tables for 4 people and a round table for 6 in the middle. The sealing was somewhat lower then in the dining hall area. So as soon some people started to talk louder the rest of us had to increase volume of our voices just to be heard by our friends. The same i guess was happening with other people in the room. Pretty soon the noise level became unbearable. Do not take a table in the back room! But service prompt and food was good although on the higher end (Chicken Parm - $24 is a little to much). Will visit this place again.
Have been to Amelia's in Stoughton, heard that there was a "sister" restaurant named Sophia that was very good so we gave it try. Happy that we did, started with calamari and crab cakes, both were very good. Entrees were of good size and flavorful. Dessert of custard and fresh berries was outstanding, finished with a great cup of cappuccino. Service was just right relative to timing and clearing and our main server Jimmy F was terrific in both attention and suggestions.
We loved Sofias! My elderly mother lives in nearby West Roxbury and wanted to take me out for a birthday dinner. The menu was a surprise - way more than Steak - and everything we touched was delicious!
Mom went with the filet - sauce on the side - and loved it (she doesn't like much - "too spicy"). I enjoyed the lamb - succulent and grilled just right; my wife went with the chicken, as always. We also lingered over coffee and dessert. The coffee might have been around for awhile, but the cheesecake - worth the trip by itself!
The interior is a bit dark - maybe better for the winter than the summer evening we chose, and the sound level was a bit loud for quiet family conversation. This may be a bad trend in many restaurants, or I am aging (it was, after all, my birthday).
The service was top-notch - everyone we came into contact with - greeter, host, waiter, server(s) - were gracious, helpful, and highly professional. We were extremely pleased with the meal, all the more so because it is not a chain (Capital _____ comes to mind) and had a great menu, terrific wine list, and fabulous service. Did I mention it also was excellent value? It was! Will be back.
Was disappointed with my first time at Sophia's. Went there because of great reviews from friends but didn't find the same quality . Hopefully a bad night and it only comes around sparingly unfortunately I travelled quite a ways and wouldn't put that same effort in again.
