The entrees were tasty - whitebait with a beautiful sauce, scallops with outstanding spicy sauce, octopus skewer with cashew cream. Mains not so good - snapper pie ok but needed seasoning and some zesting up. Sand crab / prawn spaghetti disappointing - pedestrian fare with crab flavour lost in the sauce. Service was cheery (one host - not the others) and very slow - waited nearly 40 minutes for entrees and another 40 minutes for mains. No checking to make sure diners happy or taking more drinks orders.

We were greeted with warmth and a smile and welcomed in. We had the early reservation at 5pm because we had kids but the venue was well presented. We were shown to our table and we were served by britt who was amazing. We really enjoyed our night and we will definitely be back next time we are in Lakes Entrance.

So much potential here which unfortunately didn’t live up to my expectations. The restaurant is lively but they seated us in a small room off the main finding room which felt like a sunroom (cheap extension), we asked to go back into the restaurant as it was much nicer. We had scallops for entree, very small and overpriced at $6 each and not the best flavour. The main was spaghetti with crab and prawn, very small serving and could have had some more flavour/herbs etc. hubby had the Pink Ling, which was a tiny serving and all sides were extra. Service was lovely and definitely made up for an average meal. Won’t be returning though unfortunately.

This is the second time I have dinned at Soda Fish. Next time I'm at lakes I will dine at Soda Fish and have the sample menu.

The set menu was absolutely phenomenal and the wine paring made the experience. The venue is lovely and very family friendly by the looks of it. Strong recommendation for our family and friends

We really enjoyed the food and their home baked bread. We had two 2 courses dinner and one separate dish for our teenage daughter. Throughout the dinner, service was very attentive and good was delicious! We finished off with sticky date pudding which was so big and delicious ice cream. Highly recommended to try this restaurant when you visit Lakes Entrance.

I really wanted to love Sodafish and there was lots to love about it. The wait staff were excellent; attentive but not overbearing and their authentic personalities shone. Just delightful. The view is a killer and many hours could be spent gazing out onto the water with fishing boats moored in the foreground. Yet the food was a mixed bag. The mandarin fish ceviche was delightfully fresh and boned to perfection. The smoked fish croquettes were pleasant and had a delightful crunch and the brussels sprouts were beautifully cooked with a good bit of crispy burnt flavour. Then there was the fish pie. Sorry to say it was glug and tasted very much like the croquette filling. The pastry was great but basically the pie filling was just mush. At $40 per pie, I was hoping for so much more like some real chunks of snapper. This is a missed opportunity for Sodafish as a fish pie filling can be magnificent. We will give this restaurant another try but very warily, sadly.

We dines out of season at the end of May. The restaurant was quiet but the service and the food and the wine list was really good. We really enjoyes the experience and would recommend sodafish for those travelling through like us. If we lived closer we would be regulars!
