Food was delicious and great value (even if the eat out to help out discount had not been applied). Service was rather slow and we found if difficult to get the attention of staff when wanting to order drinks/recieve bill. Would return again for the beautiful, fresh, local produce.
Excellent service and food as always. Best place in town. They’ve worked really hard in providing a safe but still relaxing environment.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough, always a warm friendly welcome, excellent food and service, nothing to fault its why I keep going back.
Fantastic all around . Amazing food and lovely staff ! The outdoor eating area is just perfect !
Well thought out with Covid in mind. Heaters in the glass roof outside very effective. Staff extremely careful to maintain distance and not lean over you. QR code for menus excellent. Have been twice and very happy.
Food also great quality. Has steak the first time and then the lamb. All good. Lots of fish on the menu and vegetarian options looked good.
Local food made exceptionally well.
COVID 19 restrictions handled impeccably.
So you pay pay a bit more for fish ' chips than you would elsewhere...BUT! You have a beautiful setting, with outside seating; and you are very adequately protected from the elements should the weather change suddenly. You have lovely dinnerware, and the waiting staff are super focused, very profi and friendly. They inform you about the constraints imposed by Covid. The whole tenor of the place allows you and your company to catch up with each other in a relaxed, tasteful setting, and the food will definitely not disappoint.
Good food & well set up for social distancing. 😁
Superb food in a great setting. Highly recommended.
As always 5* Kim and her team are amazing nothing is ever too much trouble excellent Food too .Keep er local 👍
Fantastic food! Think I've found my favourite restaurant in Derry.
Went for lunch. Food and service both excellent. We ate outside. They have a solid structure to dine under which not only is surrounded on four sides with buildings but has built in heaters. With the fairy lights i think it would also be pleasant at night.
Would advise booking in advance as I seen people being turned away. A word of warning they are not using printed menus. Menus are accessible using a scan code or Online at their web site, so smart phones needed.
We spend a very pleasant few hours there. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and explained everything about their COVID arragnements. Food was tasty and plentiful and a good variety on offer.
Second night out under the current Covid conditions and it was a fabulous night out. Dining, service and all aspects of our meal was brilliant. Sitting under the heated canopy felt like we were on our holidays... 🤩
Superb atmosphere, excellent food and great service!
First night out since lockdown so felt quite apprehensive. Tables were very well spaced so felt very comfortable and thanks to gracious staff and excellent chefs we had a lovely meal. Quite expensive but that is understandable in the present circumstances and well worth it.
Outstanding food, gorgeous. The monkfish and lamb were amazing. The wine flowed well and the hostess was professional but great craic.
Really enjoyed my food.... it was delicious. The staff are really lovely and so helpful. At this time of pandemic I felt really safe with all the precautions the restaurant had put in place.... will definitely be back!
Amazing food, well laid out with good social distance measures in place
The service was great and beautiful food! Nice range of local beers too.
We sat outside and the heating was brilliant! Gorgeous place in the gorgeous Craft Village in Derry!
Coming out for the first time after lockdown? Then this is the place to go, well spaced tables, staff observing all the rules. Food all freshly prepared and cooked.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone especially if they have slight concerns in relation to eating out again.
Thanks to all the staff for an enjoyable experience 👍😁
The food was beautiful, friendly staff and a great setup for social distancing. It took a while for the food to come but it was absolutely worth the wait!
Great service and food was amazing, looking forward to getting back here v soon
Food was lovely.
It was great that we were able to eat outside but covered from the showers and with heaters included. The staff were very thorough in cleaning down the tables and benches which was reassuring. Will be back.
Food was very good, very good value, decent portions. Nice selection of fish on the menu. Venue is a courtyard, rustic, covered, dress for outdoors and you won’t be caught out. Booking online worked perfect, confirmation email, and when we brought it forward a bit, confirmed by email. Very professional.
Fantastic food and service. Had the sharing Cote de boeuf and it was cooked to perfection. Brilliant value
Had a lovely evening from start to finish. The food was amazing and the service impeccable. Can’t wait to go back! I would highly recommend
Great food and service. Would definitley recommend
Beautiful food, well presented. Felt safe as staff and customers mostly seemed to be following coronavirus guidelines.
Great service and food as usual! Favourite dinner spot in derry
We had a lovely lunch, excellent service (especially the new procedures put in place due to COVID) and exceptional value for money. ☺️
Soda and Starch is an exceptional restaurant. Pleasant and knowledgeable staff who always go that extra mile for their diners. Nothing is a bother to them. The food is spectacular with flavours that never disappoint. The restaurant offers high end food is the most relaxed of settings. If you haven’t tried it then you must and soon. Don’t forget to ask for the Guinness bread. It’s amazing!!!!!!
This was fining at its very finest in a delightful restaurant. The sharing mezza perfect. My ham hock terrine superb. The main course of rare venison roe just melt in the mouth decadence.
Delicious food, and I loved the cartoon pictures of local celebrities, very quirky!
Fabulous food served in a beautiful environment. I would recommend the venison which was amazing and the flavours of the chicken on the main menu was delicious.
Very good quality food served by very friendly staff. Tbey restaurant was a little cooler than it should have been, but not cold.
1st time in here and must say really enjoyed the food and the staff were so friendly
Excellent food and service. Very good value for money.
Online booking system very good. Table was ready when we arrived. Service was good. Only issue was we were served some stale bread with soup, but the staff were very apologetic. Nice restaurant and would go back again,
Derry’s hidden foodie gem. The food, restaurant, staff and overall experience was 2nd to none! The quality of the food was exceptional from start to finish. It was the perfect restaurant to help us celebrate my wife’s birthday. Went to Soda & Starch on the back of a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint!! The food was amazing. Cooked to perfection, and every element of each course oozed perfection! Kudos to the owner, chefs and waiting staff for a wonderful experience. We will be back and recommending this as the best place to eat when in Derry City !!
