   My husband and I visited Socu for the first time in 2022 and were blown away! This visit did not live up to that experience, but it won’t keep us away. The menu was extremely limited and prices were much higher. Hoping this was just a limited time situation and that they’re able to return to the full, delicious menu they had before.

   My first time being there I had a bad experience my food was cold and it took about 45 mins after I sat down for my food after I order, and it took 30 mins before my drink to come out. The restaurant didn’t have a lot of customers dining it. I drove a hour just to eat there and I regret it. I was so disappointed although the waiter Ms. Monica was great.

   I went in expecting amazing seafood, and received anything but. The dinner menu was pared down, which was not a great sign, and the only great seafood dishes were "Shrimp and Grits" and the catfish with two sides. The drinks were ok, if not a bit weak. The best advice I can give to this place is to 'find your focus.' If you want to be a 'seafood place' work on that harder and give me great seafood. If you want to be more "Southern Kitchen" then for the LOVE OF GOD, LOWER YOUR PRICES. Overall, evening was 6/10. If the meal was like $60 cheaper then the evening would have been 8/10. There is nothing that this place does that justifies the cost, and I'll be adding the receipt from this place to my 'charitable donations' on my taxes.

   Brunch was amazing for Mother's Day. The catfish and grits was spectacular and the shrimp and grits were delicious. That crawfish cream sauce makes those dishes. The chargrilled oysters were tasty and light.

    It’s sad that the restaurant and kitchen is not managed well! Our last experience was good. The restaurant was not busy and it took us 3 hours to eat…with reservations! Most of the appetizers were not available and after an hour of waiting; they came and told us they were out of oysters! The menu has a selection of three differently oyster recipes. I felt sorry for the wait staff! The restaurant had one seating the whole night.

    We have been multiple times for brunch and dinner with good food, but known slow service. They were out of half of their sides, including mashed potatoes and the seafood dressing as well as 2 entrees choices. The service was exceptionally slow last night. Very disappointed.

    Our group of 6 arrived to a full restaurant. We ordered drinks, an appetizer and shortly thereafter ordered our food. After 2 hours, still no appetizer. It was obvious they restaurant had a experienced a complete meltdown. Other patrons were complaining and walking out. We tried to remain patient and be understanding. We felt really bad for our waitress who was visibly upset about the delays. After 3 hours we finally gave up and asked for our check. We were told repeatedly that our food order had been put in and it was coming out soon. On our way out the kitchen staff were boxing up our orders. Apparently, they had completely ran out of food and just gave us what they had. Basically, we received some sides in each plate and chicken wings which none of us ordered. I can say that the cabbage we received was actually pretty good. The chicken wings were nothing special. I watched the kitchen staff from the upper level cooking. The chicken wings were just pre-breaded frozen wings. One of our orders was a ribeye which we did receive in our to go plates. It was just a thin ribeye thrown on the grill. For a $60 entry I would have expected a MUCH higher quality steak. Other than the hostess and our waitress who were very nice and equally frustrated...it was definitely not a good dining experience at all. For such a supposed high-end restaurant...I fail to imagine how the owners or kitchen staff could have missed the boat by the much. Probably will never go back. I seriously felt like I was on an episode of kitchen rescue.

    We were seated 45 min late for our reservation, which we did have to add a few to our party so I understood a delay. However, when we finally were seated service was very slow. We had a reservation for 7:30, seated by 8:30 and didn't leave until past 10:30. One of us wanted fried shrimp and mashed potatoes and the waitress would not let us order that. We tried to order the shrimp appetizer with no sauce and a side of potatoes and was forced to order a shrimp salad and a side of potatoes... Another wanted a salad as a side, and was told no. He had to order a large salad to accompany his steak. Another ordered a rare steak and it came out burnt. No pink at all. It was also the last steak of the night. We didn't bother ordering anything else because it was already 10:30 pm and the kitchen was closing Another ordered lamb chops and they were cold/room temp...although delicious, just cold. The waitress herself was very nice, just wouldn't make sense of the ordering to accommodate the customer which I would expect for a decently high price point.

    Quiet, relaxing and the music was low enough that we could carry on a conversation. The service was helpful, knowledgeable and willing to assist. I recommend SOCU to all that want a nice complete dinning experience.

    Waited over 2 hours for cold food once seated. Waitress was good. Some of us left with no food staff standing around instead of helping in the kitchen with at least plating. Was out of all dressing except ranch. If it was my establishment I would have went to the greers grocery.

    We were so looking forward to having a nice date night out without baby but unfortunately it ended up being a poor experience overall. Menu- for a high end restaurant with 60+ $ meals QR codes on the table feels off. There were no specials and a few of the items were not available early in the night. Wine menu was lack luster with nothing exciting to try with a gourmet meal. Service- mediocre at best. Again for such a high end establishment the service didn’t read that way. Our fried chicken was served raw and only the waiter apologized. For such a big mistake I would typically see a manager or the chef come to apologize. They did remove the item from the bill. Overall the vibe was off at SoCu I’m hoping this feedback allows them to step up their game and refine their dining experience. Best of luck.

    I hate it and won’t be back! Very unprofessional! We had reservations for 4 o’clock! We arrived at 3:53 and told the woman at the front we had reservations for 4, that’s when she stated that they didn’t open until 5! A lady in the back, yelled out”I know what time we open!” We went back to the car and waited until 5, made it back to the door at 4:56 they wouldn’t let us in and said we had to wait until 5pm on the dot! Very rude!! The food was not good and 1/2 of it wasn’t ready! The only thing made this experience pleasant was the waiter!! I won’t be back! Btw we were the only people in the restaurant!     They were out of half of their menu at 5pm when they opened. So we were forced to order something we didn’t necessarily want. It took them over an hour to bring out $35 fried chicken that was all dark meat with hardly any meat on the bone. The best part of the evening was they didn’t charge us for the food we didn’t eat after an hour and a half of waiting.

    The food, drinks and environment where excellent. I had fried chicken, collard greens and yams that were out of this world! My server was Mrs Sabrina and she was outstanding. She was descriptive about her suggestions and attentive with her service. She made me feel like I was getting a meal back home with a family that loves each other. You would be blessed to have her.     We had reservations and walked 20 minutes there in heels only to find out that they were closed that day. I have tried calling and emailing them about it with no response. Someone also marked that we were seated and dining there. This is a problem.

    We selected Socu to celebrate a birthday. The service was horrible. It took an hour just to get a mimosa carafe. Waffles were delivered cold. The music was loud. The Rockerfeller oysters were fresh and good though. All else did not meet the hype or our expectations.

    Menu was not what was advertised through open table. Very limited menu. Appetizers and entrees both took a long time even though it wasnt crowded. Primary comments from our group were that the deviled eggs appetizer was good.. most of the main entrees were very salty.. most of the sides were sweet like sugar was added.     It's been since the onset of COVID that we've been able to visit. Sadly, the menu has diminshed. While our shrimp and grits were still delicious, the 40 minute wait for our entree would have been more palatable with a bit of bread and butter. Our table was set with small plates which were removed as water was served. What were those for? We remembered large portions and the plates signaled bread or rolls, not anticipating the lengthy wait for our food, especially as ours was one of four opp It's disheartening to spend $30+ for an entree and have to order off our phones in a dimly-lit space. That's fine for the bar, but being seated should dictate an elevated experience. We came to start off a romantic weekend, pulling out phones lessened that intimacy right from the start. Our server, Monica, couldn't have been more sweet, which brought back some of the ambiance of how we remembered SOCU. The tables were full on our last visits (we ate at SOCU three times, it was sooo good) and all of your employees made us feel welcomed and special. The many empty tables at 8 PM should signal that the spark of what once was SOCU needs to be reignited.

    I really wanted to like this restaurant, I was so excited for it and had only heard good things. We were the only table in the restaurant and were seated directly seated under the dripping AC unit. Our drinks we’re somehow warm despite the ice in them. The food was not good, mine was unseasoned and a little like soap while my friends tasted like febreeze. I will try it again just to give it one more chance but my expectations are very low.
