AND THEY SAT US OUT SIDE IN THE CONER LIKE MY KIDS DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO ACT... ORDER MORE FOOD FOR SUNDAY'S BRUNCH
Really enjoyed the food, the ambience and the service, which was top notch!
Excellent service and was seated at the time of reservation.
Went on Sunday for brunch. Food took very long. Neighba complained about their food and waitress. Manager had to come by. Customer service could be better.
From the beginning the experience was unpleasant starting with the seating. The restaurant has booths on the back walls and hard wooden chairs on the outside of the tables. The wooden chairs are very uncomfortable and not meant to be seated for a substantial period of time. Initially the server was very irritated. She displayed a horrible attitude and her vibe wasn't welcoming. I could deal with that as long as the food was reasonable. Let's get to the menu-everything is a al carte. The restaurant charges $6.00 for a bottle of water- who knows if the bottle is filled with tap water and there is no way distinguish the purity of the water for the cost. Coffee isn't refillable and it's $3.00 per cup. Ihop and the Waffle house at least gives you refillable coffee. The menu items are set items and everything else is an upcharge. For instant- I ordered sweet potato pancakes and that didn't come with a side. A side of bacon was $6.00- which is the price for a whole pack of bacon in the grocery store. Why would I pay for a pack of bacon to only receive a side of 4 pieces? A little bowl of grits was $5.00. My mother ordered their signature dish- Chicken and Waffles-if you only want dark meat there is an additional $4.00 upcharge. I asked to the speak with the manager. The manager comes and I inform him that the coffee was cold and the restaurant opened a few minutes ago. The server is very unpleasant and there is an additional upcharge for chicken. He says that's the cost! I said I don't understand why I can't eliminate the white meat and only receive dark meat. He stated that would be a custom meal. How, when I want to eliminate one piece of chicken? He then decided that he wouldn't charge the additional $4.00. The napkins- when you are seated you receive one SOCO semi cloth napkin per person- after that it's paper napkins as if you are at a carry out. I spent $60.00 for two people and it wasn't worth the price. I wouldn't recommend anyone to waste their money here!
It’s a vibe! Funky in every good way. Good music, seating, crowd, patio, service & food.
I used to go to Soco all the time because it’s my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn. I made a reservation because I knew that on Friday night it would be popping in there! I bought my girlfriend there for her birthday and it was her first time. We order our drinks, which took around 25 minutes to come. We then ordered our appetizer and entree. The appetizer came out pretty fast, they actually came out before the drinks, however, the food took about 45 minutes to come out. When we finally received our food, it was COLD, and the collard greens were too sweet. At this point we didn’t even make a complaint because we were already annoyed. This place is usually awesome, but to show my friend a first time experience here, it wasn’t the best first impression.
My husband & I have been here before(of course we love the place) so we decided to take his family members who were visiting from Panama. It was a special night because it was my 1st time meeting them. I also invited my mother (her 1st time to). We noticed a change(a good one at that) live music!! What a welcome surprise. The family LOVED the ambiance, food, drinks, service, the energy of our waiter Lamont or Lamar (not sure..sorry) and how we were greeted upon arrival & departure. Soco is the BOMB DIGGITY!!
My fiancé, daughter and I drove from Washington, D.C. just to try out the red velvet waffles and fried chicken. We were all absolutely delighted with the quality of the food, the creativity of the chef, the service, etc. Everything was wonderful and we were so happy we made the drive from D.C. We can not wait to return!! Oh by the way, the macaroni & cheese was "worth it" and so were the chicken wings. Man, SO CO was Soooo Cool!
We opted for sparking water as opposed to tap it was nice to have the option. A bit more children than I anticipated. We had to wait about approximately 30 minutes even with a reservation
The food was great as always. The service still needs improvement - our waitress sucked but the hostess was extremely professional.
The OpenTable app worked great. The food took an hour to come unfortunately, but that's to be expected on a Saturday night. Great music, good vibes, and always a great bite.
The food was great, it just took a while to be prepared. And they were simple dishes. But it was peak time. They seated us very quickly.
The hostis greeted us a party of 4. Because we came 5 minuets late she said we have to eat fast before the next party comes we will need the table. I just said okay. We waited 45 to an 1 hour before our meal came. Me and my husband had the ribs which was very boney. The corn bread was cold and the ribs was cold too. The drink island special or something like that was hurribble. I told the waiter to change it for the strawberry sweet tea that was delicious. The Mac and cheese was hot and it tasted good but too milky. I’m a Cheif myself so I like to tast different restaurants all the time. There was a floor female manager who wore all white and she asked they other two tables if they where ok and never asked my table if we were ok if we enjoyed our meals so that’s why I’m writing about my experience with SOCO.
It was awesome. Food always pleases
Our server, Aaron, was fantastic!
Some parts of the food was so salty I couldn’t eat it
AMAZING!!! A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE , CELEBRATING LIFE LOVE AND LAUGHTER.
WE COULD NOT HAVE PICKED A BETTER PLACE !!! FOOD AND SERVICE WAS FIRST RATE!!
I went for my birthday dinner. I was told that SoCo had amazing food but it was beyond amazing. Everything down to the drinks was very very very good. Our waiter was very attentive and that made our visit great as well! I’m in love with the food quality, I will definitely be back!
The Food Is Delicious.. The Service Is Great It’s Just They Kept Getting My Order Wrong.. Otherwise I Definitely Would Go There Again...
Bday brunch. Great Mac and cheese. I love coming here
This is my second time coming to Soco and this time around I really felt as though the staff was being overly aggressive with the customer service. Now I’m a Sr. GM for a luxury retail company and I know how it feels when the customer is bombarded. I came out to celebrate my birthday and I completely understand it’s a busy venue where they need to put a limit on how long you occupy a table. However, I couldn’t really enjoy my time with my girlfriends because all I can think of was that I had to rush my meal due to the manager and staff clocking our time. It’s great to see the manager’s on duty be present and engage with the patrons but I also think they can be settle with their approach.
Don’t get me wrong, the food and ambience is a great place to come out to have dinner, celebrate or just chill at the bar but be prepared to be rushed. Don’t think your coming here to sit at a table no longer than 45 minutes before you start to get the eye glance that your time is up.
the lobster and shrimp fish was not good. it was bland. The lobster was very chewy. The mashed potatoes were not soft at all. I am disappointed in this dish
took my dad and hubby for a belated birthday dinner. Hostess and waiters/waitresses were very pleasant. Quick service. Yummy food. Lively crowd. Great music. Will continue to go back!
I’ve been to Soco plenty of time and every time I visit it’s always great! Great atmosphere and great food. Service was great!! It was great to not only have our waiter to check on us continuously, but all other staff members did the same. One staff member even provided us with some great knowledge regarding the “Mandela Effect”- loved it!! We had such a wonderful experience. Truly the best restaurant in Brooklyn.
Too pricey. Although I enjoyed my meal, it would have been nice if the restaurant allowed me to substitute the side dish that came with my meal for a different side. I'm lactose intolerant & couldn't have one of the sides that came with my meal. When I asked the server about substituting the side all he was able to offer me was another side with dairy which was pointless. I ordered another vegetable and paid extra for it.
Omg me and my husband loved this place, food was great, staff super polite and friendly. Food was fresh and didnt take too long to come out. We will definitely be back!!
Food was excellent as usual , however it was very crowded and there was an half hour wait for the table
Everything was great. The only thing I will note is that the waiters were a little bit too attentive. It felt like every 5 minutes they were asking us if we needed anything.
Had the salmon and sweet potatoes. It was delish!
Promptly seated. Great customer service and the food was good. Will return.
Our server Rob was the best! He was very attentive and accommodating to us and knew when to bring the drinks, food, etc.
The food was enticing to the eyes and to the stomach... delicious! Kudos to the Chef!
I Had too sit by the door it was cold I asked to move to back and was told no. Arrangements should be made if requested overall food and vibe and drinks were good. Customer service could be better
I was celebrating my Birthday with my Sister. We had a blast, the food was on point and the service was great. We'll definitely be back!
As my very first experience to Soco it was not what I thought it would be. Once I entered into the establishment the noise just kept raising. This is definitely not the place for someone who want to have an intimate and quiet lunch or brunch dinner. Typically I do not eat out in noisy places moderate noise is fine but it was super noisy. This I was told is common. Let's talk about the food I had the Clinton Hill omelette the eggs tasted like egg beaters and not fresh eggs. I could be totally wrong but that's what it taste like. I did not like it that I was served my food and it was not piping-hot. The potatoes were not hot the fried onions were not hot nothing on the plate was hot it was less than lukewarm. my potatoes should have been hot so I ckuld have enjoyed the Heat and the flavor. I also had macaroni and cheese which was serve in a skillet individual skillet and the skillet was not piping hot a little warm the flavor was good . I will re-visit once more and I hope they get it right. I also suggest you guys separate the indoors from the outdoor noise where if you come inside you'll have less noise versus outside. When it comes to Summertime I know that would probably be a problem but perhaps something can be done about that everyone doesn't want to eat in a noisy environment. As for my waiter, his name was Aaron he was professional he was comical and he did his job well. I will continue to rate this place as I try a different dish upon my next visit. The prices are a little high for what non-meat items they serve. As far as items that include meat for the type of meat such as chicken sausage I thought those prices were hi as well. A lot of hoopa, I don't see the reason but maybe because it's people between the ages of 25 + 40 who are excited about a establishment that could be considered trendy. I believe I would have enjoyed the potatoes more had they been hot.
The lady manager was a bit rude when she saw that we have a stroller. Our daughter was sleeping so
We can’t take her out of it. She told me
That I have to take her out of the stroller and carry her because they’d don’t have another table.
I wish I could give the service 10 stars. Our server, Aaron, was personable, appropriately attentive and informative. He made the dining experience enjoy more enjoyable. We will definitely be back!
The manager Sean made my experience there weird. He watched me the entire time and interrupted me while eating to tell me he needed the table for a party after my lovely server already let me know. Overall everything else was really good. I would’ve enjoyed it more if the manager wasn’t on me like a hawk.
Pros: tasty iced tea, catfish delicious, server and hostess were nice
Cons: online menu was outdated so I was very disappointed that the two items I went there for were NOT being served
The steak is a poor cut, low quality but disguised in good flavor.
Patio seating had a heater but was drafty due to high wind
Overall, it wasn’t a horrible experience I will try them again for brunch but I’m not rushing.
