Soco Ratings and Reviews
Food was great as usual i orded the blackend salmon with mac && cheese it was amazing the first time i was there i had the jambalaya and that was great as well the drinks are pricey and the size of the cup didnt match the price but other then that everything else was perfect
I have been here on several occasions and really like the food but the service seems to have gotten worse. After having our appetizers the busboy cleared the table along with utensils. My hands were dirty and sticky and there were no extra napkins around an no-one offered any. When the entree came, the waiter walked away without setting up the table with napkins or utensils. Not happy at all with the service but as I said earlier, I like the food.
I love SoCo. I don't know why I have not realized how loud the music is played. It was Sunday night at 8pm and the music was so loud, I had to write my order on a napkin! The food, as usual, was amazing but that noise level needs to come down a notch. It destroyed the lovely ambiance that the place carries. This is not a club; It is a restaurant...
I give this place an A+ it was incredible from the service, ambiance, and of course moat importantly the food!!! We came on a Sunday, and they do all day brunch which was great because we got to order a few extra things to try it out. All impeccable! You can't go wrong with anything!
I took my mom here for birthday brunch and she loved everything from the mussels we had, to the lobster, shrimp and grits. I despise the taste of grits but the grits from Soco were so delicious and creamy I almost ate all of mom's food. I had the red velvet chicken and waffles and it was delicious as well. Every dish was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We would definitely go again. I would love to try their dinner and lunch menu.
PS. The drinks were good too..My mom had to finish mine because I was driving.
Very disheartening to have an improper greeting, especially after traveling 2.5 hours, in a snowstorm to get here. I'd heard such great things about this place, but the initial encounter absolutely took the wind out of our sales. Arrived at 5:45 for a 6p reservation. At 5:50, I was told by the hostess that my wife and I would be seated promptly at 6p...awesome, I thought to myself! Unfortunately, 25 minutes later, we were still standing in the front of the restaurant, without even an update. Frustration started to mount as I literally counted 26 open tables, and still no word from the hostess, or countless members of the staff, who continuously walked past us without even acknowledging that we were standing there. I approached the hostess, and we were seated immediately. Why should I have to express frustration to be seated when there are 26 open tables?!?!
Now to the food...everything that we had was really good, but not good enough the make up for the horrible service.
Started with mussels & a side of cornbread. The andouille sausage & cream sauce took the mussels over the top.
Entrees were the lobster shrimp & grits, and the short rib. Both were delicious.
Please do better with your front of the house, Soco. Your food deserves to be served alongside a better overall dining experience.
Soco is a hidden surprise on Myrtle Ave. The interior Is sleek, the ambiance is relaxing and the food is delicious! A great place to meet up, drink and be merry. The wine selection reflects its ambience. I recommend Soco to all my friends as the perfect place to sit back and chill!!
Fun atmosphere- cool vibe- great southern comfort food- best Mac and cheese!
Variety of cocktails and good beers on tap.
Make a reservation for quick seating.
Need to better control temp, sound and lighting- keep changing over the course of time we were there.
Great neighborhood location- will return!
There was no wait when we arrived for our 1pm reservation, which was great. The waiter was awesome. The chicken and waffles was not what i expected; the chicken was undercooked (very pink inside), but the catfish was very fresh and good. The Creole seafood gumbo, macaroni and cheese and collard greens were amazing. I will definitely revisit and recommend Soca to friends and family.
Nice, friendly atmosphere service was a bit slow but it was packed. My red velvet waffle was no bueno. The chicken, lobster and macaroni my sisters had was great! Clean. Waitress was helpful, music could have been louder. Cool, chic, and love the Brooklyn mural!
