Society Cafe was a treat to eat at on a late Saturday morning. Even with the openness of the dining area, the noise level never got too loud and the ambience was even more improved with a live coffeehouse-esque guitarist. The natural light of the space was also refreshing. The food was great - ordered the Society Burger. Normally I'd balk at a 22 dollar burger, but the dish was certainly very close to meeting that value. Perhaps more surprising and worthwhile was the fresh orange juice! Especially speaking as a weekend visitor to the city, Society Cafe is a great spot to start a day, especially with other Meatpacking District POIs like Little Island and Chelsea Market a short walk away.
If I could give "service" a 10 I would. Food and drinks all delicious.
Beautiful place, great cocktails and excellent service. I just wish the menu wasn’t so limited.
Olive oil pancakes were delicious, and that bacon was about as thick but as I've seen. Very good!
It is a very pretty, comfortable restaurant. The maitre d and the waiter were very attentive and accommodating. The special large plate of scallops was superb. A favorite place only sorry it is not in our neighborhood.
This little gem is hidden inside the Walker Hotel in Greenwich Village. It offers well-priced brunch items in a relatively more quiet and spacious atmosphere, compared to many other places filled with hustle and bustle. The crispy sticky rice was phenomenal, and the truffle-egg filled pop-over amazing. Definitely a location to return to!
Finally, a New York restaurant where I have found food well-prepared and presented, not merely "cooked". It's not in my neighborhood, but I will definitely return. Very pleasant experience.
The was absolutely nothing we didn't like.
Everythig was top notch- from recommendations that proved to be correct to artful plating to sublime tasted dishes.
Thank you for making us feel special.
a very charming place inside of a Hotel basement. The servers are very attentive and friendly. However, my dish Shakshuka was underwhelmed. The tomato sauce tasted like Progresso Jar pasta sauce. Everything else was tasty.
A hotel bar / restaurant that the locals enjoy - and as a visitor I completely enjoyed - great service , food and Art Deco ambience at a respectable price - in a fine well located boutique hotel
This restaurant is in a lovely setting in the village. However, the food was quite disappointing. Burger was average, pizza below average. Drinks were weak.
The food was excellent— starting with burrata with grilled peaches and the watercress salad. The popover bread was delicious and hot. Our entrees were perfectly prepared— salmon and steak.
We skipped dessert because of the lackluster ambience. It’s essentially a hotel restaurant. The lobby is very cool but that vibe does not carry through. It was freezing, too.
Service was fair — just bare minimum. For the price, we expected so much more. We won’t come back and I doubt I’d recommend it—maybe as a hotel option but certainly not a date night.
They allowed me to book an 8:30 reservation and the moment we sat down we were approached by 2 different staff members that the “kitchen was closing and we had to order immediately.” We had no time to order cocktails, wine, or starters. We were the only people in the restaurant which felt awkward. The moment we signed the check they turned the lights all the way on and made it apparent that they wanted us to leave. Don’t allow late reservations if you won’t provide a full serviced dinner.
The food was mediocre at best.
Great dining experience all around, the place felt like a hidden gem. Will definitely return.
Eggs Benedict was spectacular! The bartender was an absolute pleasure.
Good atmosphere, food and service at a reasonable price for NYC. Ask not to be seated near the bar where it gets loud.
Great experience! Ambiance is welcoming & very charming! Great classic cocktails, food & service! Staff are extremely knowledgeable of all menus and made great recommendations! Food is delicious-mussels are 😋Hidden gem in Greenwich Village! ✨
Lovely place tucked away in a boutique hotel. The service was exceptional. The food , delicious.
Went with friends. We sampled each other’s meal.
The arancini and panzanelle salad were delish.
( almost as good as my nonna’s)
For entrees we had trout and salmon. Recommend both.
Will be going back !
Was a great atmosphere with lovely food, would come back!
Absolutely delicious food! Lovely surroundings but it was very crowded and noisy. Seemed understaffed so service was slow, but courteous.
My guest and I always feel welcomed at Society Cafe. The staff goes above and beyond with making certain that we are enjoying our meal and share the occasional levity - which is very much appreciated. Bravo !!! Society Cafe and Staff !
Delicious restaurant week menu, we (party of 5) were all very happy with our meals.
We went for restaurant week and were delighted with the food and the menu. We hope to return. Farm to table food was delicious.
Went for restaurant week 2021 - tasty choices, balanced tastes, perfect portion sizes. Great deal.
Food was tasty and the ambiance was nice, but they kept saying they were out of certain dishes when my friend (whose birthday it was) tried to order them. Disappointed in the service a bit.
Just discovered this gem because of Restaurant Week. All 3 courses were excellent, even the brioches. Good service. Will be wonderful when I risk eating indoors again -- sadly, their outdoor tables are completely open, which means all the busy street's loud traffic and exhaust fumes invade. Much better and quieter after/before rush hour. Indoor spaces are lovely, and there's an elevator. The only downside is the distance of restrooms: many stairs or 2 different elevators.
The other downside was that the menu was only accessible with a phone app. I'd left my phone home, and my friend's phone's battery was dead. There was no printed menu available, but the waiter kindly used his phone to pull it up.
Quite the treat to be able to enjoy great food and beverages while also having a conversation in which none of us had to raise our voices!
Slow service. Cocktails weren’t great. Food was amazing though.
We had a great time at Society Cafe. We sat in the dining area and the food and drinks were very good. They had fantastic live music by a guitarist who played our favorite songs. The atmosphere was really nice and i would definitely recommend this place :)
Excellent service. Delicious food. Lovely ambiance. Perfection!
Excellent service, great good, lovely old New York ambience.
Most amazing salmon. Great vibes
Great food and atmosphere!
Amazing people, amazing food. The chef is one of the best in the city. And the staff is the nicest and kindest. The live music wasn’t as great. I was told he starts at 5 but didn’t show up until 545. Other than that. I will always come back.
I went to Society Cafe with a friend and a former professor of mine. The meal was delicious (though a bit on the pricey side), the service was excellent, and the seating was comfortable. My only complaint was that the background music was too loud. Why do restaurants think we all need to be entertained 24/7? I didn't go there to listen to music but to talk to my friends.
Food was very good. Restaurant was beautiful and staff was great. We loved it and will eat here again. Sticky rice appetizer was fantastic😀
Really excellent dinner. Everything from the cocktails to the popovers with chive butter hit the spot. Great ambience. Highly recommend.
I had the Half Chicken Under A Brick" which did not seem to be cooked in the standard way that particular dish is cooked. As a result, the chicken was dry and bland, opposite of the way it is supposed to be with that cooking method. The service was poor even though they were not busy, it was slow and indifferent.
