Portions of food need to be adjusted - some too much others too little - slow evening when there but service was slower which should not be on a slow evening - otherwise service was very good and considerate
Love this place with fireplace, quiet style and excellent food. Also a nice lobby for drinks and snacks
OUTSTANDING food in an outstanding setting! Society Cafe was wonderful in every possible way. Every course was superb! The room is stunningly gorgeous and the staff was professional, polished and super friendly. We enjoyed every moment at Society Cafe. Will definitely return.
We booked this 30mins before we go! And the time is perfect 1:30 Friday! So quiet and love the interior design and the skylight ! Great lighting condition and food is great as well!
This place is so so beautiful. I love the ambience. I went there for a chill sunday afternoon brunch. I had olive oil pancake, croque madame pizza, breakfast potato and a glass of mimosa. My friend and I really enjoyed everything we ordered. It was very tasty, and the price is not expensive at all. Great service too. I really recommend this place.
The ambience is very well done - warm and inviting but chic, matched by excellent service and terrific food and cocktails!
Had a very pleasant and tasty breakfast with a friend... excellent food, good service, charming setting, not crowded or noisy.. we weren't rushed.. was just what we wanted for today..
Beautiful setting. Service could use more training, the food was not quality.
Booked this place at random, as we were a group of 9 and hungry on a struaday night. Service and food were both very good - ended up being a great choice.
Everything was perfect from our server to the ambience to our meal. We just love this restaurant.
All of the staff were very accommodating. Due to assorted schedule issues for our party of four, we occupied a table for almost three hours. Food and drink were high caliber, the room is charming. Definitely high on our list for any return trip to New York City.
bad food and restaurant was empty on a Saturday night
Went with my fiancée and a friend.
There were several glitches in communication (ie, some of them didn’t know I was inside and kept my fiancée outside, ugh)
Our waiter was extremely polite and professional.
The food was excellent, I particularly appreciated the relatively small portions.
The place has a very nice ambience and it’s very conducive to conversation.
Society cafe is very expensive, probably lower overall value compared to other places nearby, but we didn’t regret the night out.
Not a lot of options on the menu. Food was okay. I think this place is highly overrated. Not overpriced.., OVERATED. What saved the overall experience of the place was the ambiance. Nice 👍🏽 lighting, great open atmosphere. My waiter that night bored 😐 me as well. Ehh
Waited 45 minutes for a drink. Great place but very small menu.
Agréable endroit et non service
Beautiful dining space and ambiance but the food was a tad overpriced for what it was. A side of their homemade chicken sausage was $8 so I was expecting it to be an actual side. All they did was put two measly little sausage links the same size as my pinky on the same plate as my main item.. It seemed like an afterthought that the sausage wasn't even on its own dish (although, for that small of an amount that they gave, even a tea saucer would've looked like too large of a plate) ... I will say the sausage had good flavor, but one of the links had a tiny and sharp bone shard that I had to pick out from my mouth. Made me not want to even finish.
Since I notated in the OT reservation booking that was my friend's birthday, they sent a complimentary dessert plate of little cookies and chocolate fudge cubes. My friend has a nut allergy so she asked our server if the fudge contained nuts. He said he wasn't sure and went to check with the kitchen. That's fine. He came back and said the kitchen didn't know either. Rather odd for the people preparing the food to not know what's in the food. Even if they didn't make it in house, wouldn't the bakery or fudge maker they ordered from have included ingredient labeling? 🤔
Everything about the restaurant was great, from the host in the front, to the waitress and the servers. Everyone was cordial and the food was amazing, beautifully presented and seasoned. I always ask for salt and pepper and didn't have to use it. The ambiance is really cool, even though its a basement restaurant, the beautiful sky light in the middle made it very light and airy. The cocktails we had, a Belini and a couple of bloody Marys were well priced and tasty. I would 100% go back again.
uber elegant place. dimly lit and chic. food was amazing! fresh ingredients, attention to textures, flavors, presentation. thumbs up!
I enjoyed my experience very much. The food, staff and ambience was superb. I will definitely be returning in the very near future.
Lovely atmosphere and the food was great .... first time and we enjoyed it for restaurant week....I enjoyed the pasta, short ribs and apple dessert...
Cozy basement room with great service!
Went for NYC Restaurant Week brunch! Can't beat the value. Our server Leilana was so cheerful and attentive, and the place is adorable.
Really had a great time there. The service is exceptional. I’d highly recommend.
Lobster tator tots and burrata are delicious, but small portions so get them as starters. Tuna was cooked perfectly medium rare. Complimentary popover bread is incredible!
Went for restaurant week and everything we tried on the menu was delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was warm and cozy.
My husband and I went for restaurant week, it was wonderful food very good, service wonderful.
I went to there alone to have a lunch time. Interior is SO NICE !!! I enjoyed my lunch time.
Especially, their Service and Food were AWESOME!!! I will go there with my husband very soon!!
Wish we didnt have to wait more than 20 mins when we had reservations.
The food was fantastic. It was so hard to pick one thing to eat as my meal. It’s a must go back to try more options.
Beautiful deco. The food was all right. Though for Short rib I was expecting a beef, not a beef stew. The wine was bad, it tasted OK at the first sip, but then it went all the way down, like having water, diluted.
And we loved sitting in the booth, and Chef Chris’s dishes were also inventive and delicious.
Good experience! Great food, good service and the restaurant and hotel are beautiful!
Very friendly wait staff, amazing food with wine pairings and recommendations
Went for Brunch. It is a cute space from the outside, and the bar area is cute. the booths are roomy in the dining room. those are the positives. Service is intermittent, and non attentive. Ordered brunch beverages (mimosa, etc.). The orange juice and champagne in the drink was stale/flat old/borderline rancid. Same with our friends bellini.
It took a long time to get those basic drinks and restaurant was not very busy. Service disappeared for awhile. We got a bad feeling that if the drinks were bad the food would be also. AS such we paid bill and left prior to eating.
Rhe room is lovely and very comfortable. The food is good but unremarkable. I think the kitchen needs to be just a little more ambitious and thoughtful about menu choices and variety. The pizza was a standout.
It's rare when every element of your meal is delightful, but Society Cafe pulled it off. Except for not having the whiskey my husband wanted for his Old Fashioned, everything was perfect. We were seated right away in a cozy spot. Cocktails were nice and strong. Appetizer (lobster tater tots) portion was small but decadent. Entrees were rich and filling but not heavy. Brussels sprouts side was delightful, and the dulce de leche cheesecake was ridiculous. Our server was attentive but not intrusive, and the staff refilled our water regularly. Plates were cleared promptly but we weren't rushed. I would definitely go back and refer friends here.
Society Cafe always amazes me. This was a special event. New Year's Eve. Chef Chris's menu was off the chart. From the First- Amuse course of Beau Soleil Oyster en Gelee, Kaluga Caviar to the app of Cauliflower Panna Cotta, Pickled Raisins, Marcona Almonds, Vadouvan I could taste the local in every morsel. What knocked it out of the park was the third course of Maine Lobster, Chanterelles, Bisque, Scallion Hushpuppy, Belgian Endive. Keep in mind this was a 5 course tasting menu of the talents of Chef Zabita. What's more, is Chef made it personal by visiting tables. The overall ambiance was also amazing. Festive but in true Walker Hotel elegant and understated. During the course of the night, multiple people including the manager, Jessica who took personal interest in what appeared to be everyone's evening. I am always skeptical of NYE dinners in NYC- not anymore. Great Job Team Society Cafe- attached is a photo of Chef's Foie Gras Agnolotti, Parmesan Brodo, Black Truffle- I can die now..
The food was very good but wine far too expensive and the service was very poor
Lovely as always, thank you. Always enjoy Christmas Eve with you.
