Hidden inside the charming Walker Hotel Greenwich Village, Society Cafe is a new market-to-table American restaurant by rising-star chef, Christopher Zabita. Chef Zabita's training in award-winning restaurants such as Victoria and Alberts, Bar Boulud and Marc Forgione has prepared him for his new passion project at Society Cafe as he takes the helm of the kitchen as Executive Chef.

Relying on the purveyors at the nearby Union Square Farmers Market where he personally shops 4-days per week, Chef Zabita has created an evolving, seasonal menu that is sustainable and locally sourced. The beautiful new dining room features accents of walnut, leather and teal for a modern yet sophisticated surrounding.

Guests bask in natural light over breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch from the stunning skylight above. As the sun sets, the fireplace adds a soft, warm inviting glow while the downtown crowd comes alive in true New York City fashion.

Beautiful dining space and ambiance but the food was a tad overpriced for what it was. A side of their homemade chicken sausage was $8 so I was expecting it to be an actual side. All they did was put two measly little sausage links the same size as my pinky on the same plate as my main item.. It seemed like an afterthought that the sausage wasn't even on its own dish (although, for that small of an amount that they gave, even a tea saucer would've looked like too large of a plate) ... I will say the sausage had good flavor, but one of the links had a tiny and sharp bone shard that I had to pick out from my mouth. Made me not want to even finish.

Since I notated in the OT reservation booking that was my friend's birthday, they sent a complimentary dessert plate of little cookies and chocolate fudge cubes. My friend has a nut allergy so she asked our server if the fudge contained nuts. He said he wasn't sure and went to check with the kitchen. That's fine. He came back and said the kitchen didn't know either. Rather odd for the people preparing the food to not know what's in the food. Even if they didn't make it in house, wouldn't the bakery or fudge maker they ordered from have included ingredient labeling? 🤔

Everything about the restaurant was great, from the host in the front, to the waitress and the servers. Everyone was cordial and the food was amazing, beautifully presented and seasoned. I always ask for salt and pepper and didn't have to use it. The ambiance is really cool, even though its a basement restaurant, the beautiful sky light in the middle made it very light and airy. The cocktails we had, a Belini and a couple of bloody Marys were well priced and tasty. I would 100% go back again.

Lobster tator tots and burrata are delicious, but small portions so get them as starters. Tuna was cooked perfectly medium rare. Complimentary popover bread is incredible!

I went to there alone to have a lunch time. Interior is SO NICE !!! I enjoyed my lunch time.
