Fabulous food and ambiance, tucked away in the back away from the hustle of the NY streets. After dinner drinks by the fireplace in the lobby is a must.
Delicious, romantic, a gem. Shhh dont tell anyone.
Cool location and decor. Service and food were great. A nice find!
this place is an absolute gem. I've already been twice... and i'll definitely be going again soon...
New Year’s Eve
Located in the Walker Hotel's cellar, but worth a stop even if you're not staying at the property. We had early reservations so that we could make it to a show, so the place was not very crowded. Our server, Jesus, was gracious, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.
We started with cocktails and an appetizer of chick pea fries. The cocktails were on point (I loved the Black Manhattan -- kind of a combo of a manhattan and an old fashioned) and the chick pea fries were tasty.
Our main courses were the skirt steak for me and the short rib special for my wife. Everything from protein to sides was outstanding.
We didn't stay for dessert because we had to move on, but would revisit this place in an instant.
We decided to spend Christmas in New York and to have Christmas Eve dinner at Society Cafe. The ambience was wonderful for the holidays and we had a terrific, attentive and welcoming host that made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy the evening. The food was wonderful, and the staff were on point throughout our entire dinner. We’d love to come back.
Classy, cozy restaurant - great for girls night, date night, and birthdays. Both entrees that we ordered were good, the Alaskan salmon with coconut curry and the risotto. I will surely bring my husband to try their signature cocktails next time.
Food was incredible and the place is decorated for Christmas with live music.
Oh, you know… 😏😏😏
First time at Society Cafe did not disappoint! It would be great if there were a few more gluten free options, but I feel that way about everywhere I go so it's nothing abnormal! Would absolutely go back soon ... in fact I'm already making plans for a return when my family comes to visit from out of town! The beautiful, cozy ambiance is really unmatched.
Great place - loved the decorations and their bread is the best
Attentive staff, great food. Lovely dining area
Amazing experience at Society Cafe, service and food were top notch. We had sticky rice and a society pizza to start. We had the short ribs and chicken for dinner and a creme brulee for dessert. Everything was seasoned well and on point. Drinks were great and the server was attentive, will come back and highly recommend.
This is a charming space with a skylight--looks more Boston or Philadelphia than NYC. There's good space between tables, good service. The menu is an amalgam. My two courses were good, not great (but I'm a food writer and picky).
Chicken was great and so were the drinks. Reasonably priced for nyc
Great experience, the bartender was amazing. Loved the Ravioli and Short Ribs!
We had a fantastic time at Society Cafe. The food was excellent and we loved the ambiance. So beautifully decorated for the holidays.
You guys did it again, Amazing food and service ! Thank you
great space, great service -- would def come back
Service was absolutely top notch every step of the way. Never had a glass bottom out, food timely, adjusted our table without asking, cleared at just the right time. The level of freshness was apparent in all dishes- short ribs, special butternut squash ravioli and pizza. Will be back for sure.
Food mediocre, service excruciatingly slow, ambiance dreary.
Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful!
Really gorgeous spot for cocktails and pizza. The wheat croque Madame and margarita pizzas were amazing. Service was very good, would recommend!
Host very accommodating. Was early for our table and it was no problem. Beautiful, romantic setting. Music a bit too loud.
Server not very good. Buss-persons much more attentive and basically took care of us.
Food quite excellent and VERY tasty, but came from kitchen barely room temperature. Had to be sent back. I put that on the server, frankly. Once heated, was fine. Good strong drinks!
Would definitely go back.
Beautiful room. Good food. Our dishes were not as hot as we liked but they made up for it with a thank you dessert.
OMG! The short ribs dish is too die for! Have it with the Cabernet Sauvignon! Truly delicious. I might go back to NYC just for that!
Very good service from host and server. The french toast was amazing. Ambiance is romantic
We showed up 15 minutes before breakfast turned into lunch and they wouldn’t serve us menus from the brunch menu. Waiter was rude and slow.
Really enjoyed this place. The food and drinks were unique and had wonderful flavors. The staff is attentive and friendly. The dinning room is pretty and decor is perfect for a fall/winter dinner or drink. I will definitely return.
10/31/21. Charming, great service and best hollandaise sauce ever!
Great place for brunch. My friend I took for the first time loved it. The burger is amazing. Great place
Everyone loved the food and the cafe! I’ll be going back.
Delicious, creative food. Warm and attentive service. Beautiful space. We were surprised at how reasonable the prices were. Would definitely go back for brunch, and we are looking forward to trying dinner.
We were so charmed by the sophisticated and hidden away coziness and classiness of Society Cafe. It was a lucky find and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was equally good, as our many specific requests were noted and the execution of the meal delivery and accuracy was superb. Well done, Society Cafe and Thank you!
Great service. Way too loud. Hard to have conversation with guests who were sitting next to me. Good was above average. Apps were better than entrees.
So so dinner and the service was not good. Spilled water and did not clean it up. Please know that was not the issue it was the attitude that came along with it. It’s a decent spot and expected much better.
Society Cafe was a treat to eat at on a late Saturday morning. Even with the openness of the dining area, the noise level never got too loud and the ambience was even more improved with a live coffeehouse-esque guitarist. The natural light of the space was also refreshing. The food was great - ordered the Society Burger. Normally I'd balk at a 22 dollar burger, but the dish was certainly very close to meeting that value. Perhaps more surprising and worthwhile was the fresh orange juice! Especially speaking as a weekend visitor to the city, Society Cafe is a great spot to start a day, especially with other Meatpacking District POIs like Little Island and Chelsea Market a short walk away.
